After three years of hearing friends and coworkers talk about Rocko I finally had a chance to check it out. The excitement and the hype was a waste of time and eventually money. maybe it's my fault for ordering a braised item at an Italian steakhouse but it was awful. The pizza was good except for all the burned flower on the bottom ruining the flavor of all the good stuff on top. The not traditional Gnocci were tasty even if the sauce was broken and an oily mess. The braised pork broccoli Rabe and fried polenta was only a small step up from a pulled pork platter cornbread and collard greens at the dinosaur down the street for nine bucks and as police there I have a handy bottle of sauce to give the under season and ill prepared me flavor but not at Rocco. This mess on a plate turned out to Be 16 or 18. Upon seeing the simplicity of the dining room I figured the food must carry the high ticket price. I was wrong and still don't under stand how I made it out of there for over $100 yet feel so unhappy with my meal. I voiced no complaints but plan on never returning again and being quite vocal with my huge disappointment in the execution and technique of what is coming out of their kitchen. The Monday night kitchen staff should be ashamed at their lack of pride. Management needs to consider the term perception of value . The service was good.

Not all were bad. Nice cozy & friendly atmosphere, very good soup (cream of mushroom with dazzle of white truffle oil...almost perfect except I would sprinkle chives not scallion). So it was a nice start...but kinda went down hill after that. 1st, it was missing spoon for the soup, then it was missing scissor to cut my pizza (liked the dough, but the mushroom & scallions killed each others flavor, came out rather tasteless). Then so called "medium rare" pork chop came out, which was more like a solid rare pork chop which made it rather hard to cut...did I mention its a pork chop not a lamb chop. I like my meat rare but not that rare when it comes to pork. I can play with "medium" or "med. rare" even with pork (i have an iron stomach), but this one looked pretty dangerous. But that was not the worst part...the worst part for me was when I mentioned the "rareness" of the pork chop, the server/bartender assured us it meet the safety requirement without actually checking the meat...not even a glance. That concerned me more. Nobody seems to be doing quality check on food. Then we realized one of the beer we ordered had a expiration of yesterday. Maybe if it was just one thing, I would give it another try...but all combined...nah, not worth it.

We were excited about trying Roccos, but I would have to say we were pretty disappointed. A couple of things that bothered us was one the table were seated at. We were crammed into the small table next to the entrance of the room. So we had the server station three feet to my left a door were people waited to be seated one foot to my left. If this was the only table that was left when I made reservations I would have preferred them to tell me that nothing was available instead of having an expensive meal with the entire restaurant and staff on top of us. (This table should have been removed when the first person complained about it) As for the service it was great. I was impressed with the waitress she was very good. The atmosphere was not bad. If I was the owner I would be a little upset with the huge bright FedEx sign front and center in the window, but what can you do. The food I dont want to be critical, but the only thing we really enjoyed was the salad and I think that was because it did not require a flame to prepare it. All the other food was burnt pretty badly like "charred bad". It tasted like the food I make over the camp fire when we go up to the Adirondacks. After all of this I dont think we will go back.

Just dined at Rocco on Saturday night. I have never written a review of a resturant but felt that I had to after my visit. Bartender: 5 stars Food: 4 Stars Service: One star Hence the reason for this review. I have no idea what the deal was but our server had attititude plus. If you dont want to be a server, then find a different job. She was snotty, not friendly at all, and never asked us if we wanted another drink or coffee or anything besides taking our order. She stood about 5 feet away and watched us but never offered anything more than our intitial order. I am a very generous tipper and for the first time EVER, I was tempted to not leave a tip. I have noticed that servers seem to have this attitude in nicer resturants that they are doing you a favor by serving you. I am sure that the owners would be less than thrilled if they knew that people werent getting wonderful service to go along with the quality of the food. The man that brought the food out from the kitchen was super friendly and offered an,"enjoy" but our server had the personality of a doorstop... and it wasnt even that... it was just her attitude.. POOR service! :((

Good food, small place. A friend of mine is a chef here, so Id been looking forward to trying it out. Our party of six had an appointment for 8:00 on a Friday. We werent seated until 8:30 and the six of us had to stand in a pretty cramped area near the bar, which wasnt ideal. The staff seemed apologetic, and treated us to complimentary champagne since we had to wait, which was appreciated. The place was just packed and I guess they cant *force* diners to leave, but perhaps be cautious if youre planning a large party on a busy night. I had the linguini w/ clam sauce, which was wonderful. Different than how I make it - a little sweeter, but nothing overpowering. My friends duck was good, if cooked slightly more than she likes it. Overall everyone seemed pretty happy with the food. My only complaint was the bread - it wasnt warm, and honestly just kind of underwhelming. Good fresh-baked bread with a little olive oil would be a welcome improvement.

Food is good as usual, but service is so strange. Heres my experience: I had a dinner reservation for 2. We showed up on time, and were seated at the small table in the middle row at the end. There were several empty larger tables, and some larger tables had only 2 people seated at them. While we were there a few more tables were seated, all parties of 2, and all were seated at the larger tables. If youre not busy, why not offer a slightly nicer table to us? It made us feel unwelcome. Couldnt understand this. Last gripe: We asked which wine was the sweetest, as my girlfriend likes Riesling, and the waiter immediately recommended the most expensive wine on the list. It wasnt bad, but it wasnt nearly what we were looking for, then he says: "Yeah none of our wines are sweet." Well, why did he recommend the most expensive bottle then??? Be wary of strange service.

Great food, great atmosphere, very professional service. Started with a stuffed clams app (it was a special), moved on to a pizza with a nice soft, pungent cows milk cheese and a beef ragu, and finished with duck breast and butternut squash. The duck was done perfectly. The timing for each course was spot on. We had two desserts. The first, a frozen chocolate ricotta mousse with pistachios, was alright. The other, a butterscotch pudding with a warm butterscotch topping and salted whole almonds, was fantastic. The place is very small and even on a wednesday night it was packed and there was a wait. MAKE RESERVATIONS. Also, reservations are something you make AT LEAST hours in advance. Calling from the car on the way there isnt a reservation, guys.
