IHOP used to be such a breakfast landmark here in the USA, however it must of missed the spot when it decided to open up its chains here in Rochester. I will never forget when IHOP first opened, and it ran out of pancake mix on a busy Sunday morning. I mean at that moment it was just called the International House Of....immediately after the first couple of hours the restaurant had to close, sending all the guests home. Really, the only time to eat at IHOP is for their breakfast entrees (and even thats pushing it). The small/limited dinner entrees look and smell like youre eating at a soup kitchen. So for the purpose of this review we will focus on the breakfast. The interior and exterior of the place looks like an old school insane asylum. I mean looking at the 1970s stripes/polka dots really gives you a dizzy dining experience. There is a plus with this location being open 24-7, but lets face it, if youre staying up late- Go to Dennys. The service is almost always horrible, with ticket times running at a snails pace. When you walk in there you really feel like you arrived on Ave. A, with servers yelling at each other. The worst part of IHOP is that no matter what you eat there, you always have this sudden urge to go to the bathroom after (I guess there food really is crappy). Coffee: There is a reason why the servers always pour the coffee into your cup beforehand and or at your table. This is because the bottom of the cups are so dirty that once the coffee is already poured into the cup, you have no idea of the caked-on dirt sitting in the bottom. Breakfast Entrée: Get the Smokehouse Combo, it is a meaty choice. The sausage links are HUGE but taste like plastic. The eggs always seem to be on the greasy burnt side, especially the sunny-side up ones. The hash browns never looked real to me because they were always perfectly oval shaped, like coming out of a frozen box. Now the pancakes actually do taste good, fluffy, and butter milked BUT I think pancakes in general are dry tasting. The bacon comes saturated with grease from the grill, a mix between fatty/crispy. The lady next to me had a hair in her salad!!! I think there is something wrong with the burner/hot-top in that restaurant because you always get digestive issues about 10 mins after you eat the meal there. Overall: Outdated Interior/Open 24-7/ Poor Service/ Poor Quality Entrées/ A Run to the Bathroom/Hair in Salad/ and Dirty Coffee (literally)....I will NOT be back.

Went here on 1.31.2016 with one other person. Came in at about 8:15am, what we later realized was our server, kept yelling to the back of the restaurant to ask another server where to seat us/what tables she wanted. There were about 5 tables taken in the restaurant including a larger party of about 8 people. Once we sat down, our server quickly got us set up with beverages. As we were deciding on what to eat, we could see/hear the servers arguing amongst themselves, our server being the worst of the all. The bickering and complaining in the back was so uncomfortable, a couple seated about 5 minutes after we sat down got up and left a few minutes after placing their order. Our server was very loud, rude and unprofessional to the other wait staff and made it very obvious he was just negative about everything. We waited about 30 minutes for our food, in that time another table that sat and ordered after us got their food and another table of 3 had been sat down and left even before the server could take their order. Our food came out with the larger party, our server mixed up the persons food I was with the larger party. That might explain why the person I was withs food was lukewarm as if it had been sitting out. The person I was with wanted ketchup with their food (he ordered chicken and waffles which was basically a waffle cut in half with fried chicken strips) but our server would not stay around our table long enough for us to ask. This is not the first time weve been to this iHop and seen first hand the unprofessionalism of the wait staff. Its not all the servers who are like this, but the few who are ruin it for the rest. If youre looking for an environment thats relaxed and family friendly, this iHop is not the place to go. Definitely will not be coming here again, should have listened to all the other reviews

I should have read the reviews first! - The manager of this location did call me as I was typing this review to find out what happened. He says that he is new and is taking steps to turn around this location. My friends and I wanted to grab some breakfast before we started our 6 hour drive back to Maryland. So, we Googled the closest IHOP. Of course, we are used to this chain from our home state and other locations. We arrived at this place at 12:30 pm. The hostess said that we had a 10 minute wait. That wasnt bad for a Sunday afternoon. The wait to be seated was about 15-20 minutes. (party of 4) 1st red flag - my friend had asked about a menu item that the company was advertising at the front door. They didnt have the item. When we arrived at the table, my friend mentioned that he was disappointed that he couldnt order the item that was on special, and the server said that its typical for them to run out of things on Sundays. 2nd red flag - no silverware - we ordered drinks, including coffee. However, we had to wait for the server to come back to realize that we needed spoons to stir the coffee, which was starting to get cold. We ordered our food right away because we all knew what we wanted. 3rd red flag - 45 minutes later - food never arrived, with no apology or update. When we asked our server for an ETA on our food, she said that the manager would pay special attention to our order - strange...is the manager cooking the food?? A few minutes pass, and we asked another server if we could speak to the manager. 10 more minutes passed, and we didnt see the manager. We decided to leave, since we had been sitting there for an hour, at that point, and we had a 6 hour drive back home. This was the WORST dining experience that I have ever had! I really hope that this new manager turns around the location.

First thing we were greeted by were signs saying, "Pay your server." Obviously, that is a given if you complete basic satisfactory service, so that was a red flag. There were around 10-15 staffers, and literally no clean tables. Took fifteen+ minutes to be seated, an hour+ for the food to get there, another fifteen minutes+ to be cashed out. When the food got there after an excessive wait for two entrees, there was only one piece of ham. There were only about ten other people being served, waiting to be seated, and to be cashed out all together. There was seating for around a hundred people. My boyfriend substituted his two sausage for an addition two pieces of ham, but only received one. We complained and the waiter rolled her eyes and walked away. The manager walks up, we werent told he was coming, and rolled his eyes at us, did nothing, and walked away. We were repeatedly ignored, and the waiter took out card into the kitchen for 5-10 minutes before cashing us out, not sure why. (my boyfriend is paranoid now and is in the process of getting his card number changed) The ambiance was okay, but wasnt very clean. I would not recommend.
