When I first moved to Rochester about 10 years ago, Shanghai restaurant was my favorite place and I recommended it to many of my colleagues and even students. After it changed owners, things soon deteriorated so badly that I stopped going there for the past four or five years. Thus, when I heard that it was finally forced to close down, I was not surprised at all. It should have happened sooner. When Shanghai changed hands, some of the chefs also left and opened Han Noodle bar. I liked it a lot back then. The inconsistency in food quality had always been an issue but the experience had always been above OK. I had not been back for about 6 months until a friend asked me to recommend a Chinese place in town. I took him there today. I would NOT(!!!!) recommend this place any more!! It has become as bad as what Shanghai was! First, they took ALL the authentic Chinese food items off the menu. Honestly it is just an average Americanized Chinese food place now. Second, the whole time when we stayed there, the whole place was covered by the strong smoke from the kitchen. All the guests were complaining and some had to pack the food and run away. Third, the waitress was very cold; she did not bother to smile even for once. Fourth, you can tell that the whole place has been running to the ground from outside to inside. Nobody takes care of the broken shop signs outside, the weeds are growing manically around the yard and stairs, and the tables are uneven. I would absolutely NOT go back any more!!

Whenever I want takeout and am in the Park or Monroe area, I go to Han. Theres a variety of food options and everything Ive had is good. Ambiance: Its not huge and its kind of loud in there, it can also be too hot or too cold. It doesnt bother me when Im doing takeout but it does matter when Im eating there. Service: Just fine. Servers are nice, take note of my allergy, double-check past kitchen. Can be harder to understand over the phone. Food: Fantastic. Some of my favorite takeout in Rochester. Theres a variety of dishes to appeal to a number of interests. Theres warm noodle soups with a variety of add-ins (duck, pork, wontons, seafood), noodles without broth that can be done cold or fried (with various meats and veg), the classic Chinese appetizers you expect (rangoons, dumplings, spring rolls, pickled vegetables), etc. The vegetarian/vegan selection is solid as well. The chef knows what goes in the food and is careful to tell me what I can and cant have with my dairy allergy. My favorites are the Ginger Scallion noodles and the ma po tofu.

I ate chicken, broccoli, and rice from Han Noodle Bar and within a few hours I was sick as a dog with food poisoning. It has been 3 months since then and my digestive system is still ruined. Dr. diagnosed me with an acute case of gastroenteritis, which has caused me to develop a secondary infection called SIBO which follows acute gastroenteritis. I have spent thousands in healthcare bills because of this, nearly didnt finish my junior year of college, and worst of all have been violently Ill for 3 months with substantial weight-loss and malnourishment. I wouldnt eat at this place if you gave me a million dollars. BEWARE.

I dont usually provide feedback on Restaurants, but this place was phenomenal. Even though it was a clearly a busy Saturday night, service was friendly and fast. The food was outstanding. I wasnt expecting such quality based on my initial impression of the place, rather something 2 notches above average Chinese takeout. We had some delicious dumplings as an appetizer and I had the House Spicy Chicken with fried rice. I was blown away at the quality of my Entree. It was sizeable, had a great kick to it, and the combination of spices and peppers created an especially powerful flavor. I had a fantastic experience.

Its funny seeing all these good reviews for this place, and i probably wouldve been a happy customer had i not lived upstairs from han noodle...ALL IM GONNA SAY IS ALL OF YOU PEOPLE ARE EATING AND ENJOYING FOOD THAT HAS BEEN PREPARED AND COOKED IN A RODENT INFESTED ENVIRONMENT..MICE ARE EVERYWHERE IN SWARMS IN MY APARTMENT. THE OWNERS AGREED TO MOVE US TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION SO WE WOULDNT CALL THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT...IF YOU KEEP YOUR EYES OPENED YOU WILL SEE MICE CARCASSES RIGHT BY THEIR BACK DOOR NEAR MY APARTMENT DOOR...BEWARE OF WHAT U ARE EATING!!!!!

I am a regular at Han noodle bar now. Its a tiny Chinese place with the best broths, noodles and crispy tofu you can find in Rochester. The place is practically full all the time, still they manage to impress with their service and food. Generous portions. They are good at most things on their menu (at least what I have tried and I have tried almost everything). The best part is, their food tastes exactly the same every time. I love that I can trust them to make my favorite dishes as good and wonderful each time.

We have always had a positive experience at Han Noodle Bar. The food is fresh and deliciously prepared, the service is perfect and the opportunity to speak with the owner/chef is a pleasure. Unlike many or most Asian restaurants, communication is never an issue. I have been able to order with confidence dishes I was previously unfamiliar with. Feeling welcomed and never rushed to leave, it is by far my favorite place in Rochester for Asian food.

Delicious place to grab a meal! I love the roasted duck noodle soup, especially during cold Rochester winters. Its bright and clean on the inside for a cozy atmosphere. Furthermore, the owner/staff are incredibly friendly, accommodating, and efficient. Great restaurant to have in your neighborhood. And I agree with other reviewers - pork buns are yummy. Be careful of the mouth-numbing (sichuan?) pepper in the mapo tofu! Not for the faint of heart.

Solid 4, with an easy potential for 5 with the right meal. Service is good, nothing notable. Steamed buns are ammmmaazing, try the pork belly. Pho is so-so. Very generous with the noodles and meat, but the broth is just okay, and steak was very tough. They also give very few bean sprouts, basil, etc. Meals at other tables looked pretty good, so Ill definitely go back for more steamed buns and to explore the rest of the menu.

We met up with another couple that had not been to Han Noodle Bar before. As always the food was good and arrived shortly after we ordered. Our server was attentive and our glasses were never empty! The Mapo Tofu and Dan Dan Mein are a frequent favorite, but I highly recommend the Firecracker Fish Chips! (If you eat pork you should not miss out on the Pork Belly Buns -- the best in town)

Han Noodle offers a delicious variety of Asian cuisine, ranging from flavorful noodle dishes, savory seafood, and traditional Chinese kitchen preparations. Not only is it tasty, the portion sizes are large for the value. It is a clean and aesthetically pleasing establishment. Due to the popularity, it can sometimes be crowded, but service is always fantastic. Recommend!
