I thought the name was illustrative of an often seen pretentious provincial ignorance, but it turns out it was just me after all. This French bistro is unimpeachably authentic - European-owned, and farm to table. I spoke at length with the owner at the bar. He is from Montenegro, and has worked in Vegas and New York. He described the fastidious care with which he seeks out local farms to form relationships with. His produce comes from Obercreek Farm in Wappingers Falls and another in Goshen. He buys cheese from Sprout Creek. His fish is fresh every Thursday from a monger next door. His chickens are superb. But he flies his mozzarella in from Italy. It is the most delicate and tender I have ever tasted, far fresher-tasting than the stuff I used to have in Hoboken the morning it was made. With a glass of High West Campfire, a sublime smoky whiskey, I enjoyed one of the finest dinners Ive ever had. My new favorite restaurant.

Was a little disappointed in our lunch, may have been an off day for the chief, does happen. Ordered the mussel special, was ok, mussels were really really small and a lot had fallen out of their shells. I know the cooks dont have time to check to see if there is a mussel in every shell. My friend ordered a sandwich, cant remember the exact name, something like crouqe mousey - basically a fancy ham and cheese sandwich. Came smothered in sauce... Wasnt very appetizing looking, she scrapped it off but the sauce did its damage by making the bread soaggy. Sandwich looked like it had 1 thin slice of ham and cheese. Finished by sharing a Creme Brule, honestly it tasted a little like butter. It was the yellowist custard Ive ever seen an literally was about 1/4 of an inch think.... Thinnist creme Ive ever had. I will be back because I believe in second chances, but will order different selections next time.

Food was good. Nothing special. Soda machine wasnt working. They served us flat soda. They knew that cappuccino machine wasnt working but they served us cold cappuccino. They refused to put a pitcher of water on our table. And our dessert was basically a rolled up cold crepe with Nutella. Went on a Thursday night with friends and we had to shout at each other tone heard. Probably will not go back.

After eating at the restaurant, we used Le Express to cater our wedding outside a local church. John was very generous with his time, and worked closely to coordinate things with the equipment supplier. He and his staff really came through. They were nice, professional, and tolerant. The food, most of it local, was fresh and delicious and even our pickier guests were pleased. We definitely recommend them!

The name is a little weird because "Le Express" is grammatically incorrect French. But once you get in there and start your meal you wont care about that at all. This is hands down the best restaurant in the area. We ordered a lot of different types of stuff and every single thing was amazing.

I had my first dining experience last night with a friend who regularly visits Le Express. Now I know why he likes this restaurant. We sat at the bar and had a great dinner. The service and food were very good. I will definitely be back the next time I am in town.

Interesting menu with some great choices. Wines by the glass are limited though with such an interesting menu. Try the warm Brussel sprout salad or fried artichoke apps.
