I have done a lot of traveling across the mid-atlantic and the south, and Ive been spoiled! I must have been a southerner in my past life because I love BBQ so much. Region to region, there are some pretty awesome varieties....as you well know. Well, I always come back home to Long Island and go through withdrawal. Or post southern BBQ bliss depression. Nobody up here has been successful in serving half decent BBQ, at least I havent been able to find any)....until now. Harbor Q in Port Washington Long Island has tipped the BBQ scales (and many home scales as well Im sure!) with his creative array of barbecue items. His menu reflects his research....he traveled many southern regions and has brought back ideas and added his creativity to the local flavors he captured so well. The end result? BBQ paradise!!! Service is fantastic, and quite often, Keith, the owner/creator/genius is the one who will greet and seat you. Almost Immediately they bring you a basket of homemade kettle chips, (so light and crisp), served with a ramekin of gorgonzola fondue. Quite simply, heavenly. Order one of the craft beers on their menu to go with it. The beer compliments the fondue, in my opinion. Order some " Buffalo Soldiers" , an appetizer of egg rolls filled with Buffalo Style chicken and Gorgonzola cheese, served with an ancho-chile spiced honey dipping sauce. SERIOUSLY UNBELIEVABLY GOOD!!! What a creation!!! CULINARY CREATIVITY AT ITS BEST!! We havent tried any other appetizer yet, only because we cant stop ordering our favorite one!!! The dry Memphis Style ribs are a stand-out! Fall-off-the-bone spiced-rubbed pork that melts in your mouth and leaves you craving more the next day! We have had the Carolina style pulled pork many times. Consistently perfect.Just the right amount of sauce, smokiness and served generously portion-wise.To put it simply, Keith has brought home authentic Carolina style barbecue. What more can I say? He knows what hes doing!! Pulled chicken barbecue is served in a tomato based sauce....juicy large shreds of chicken, cooked to perfection, not over-sauced. Always delicious. Not in the mood for big portions? He offers a sliders menu. You can get cheeseburgers, brisket, pulled pork or pulled chicken, or a combo of any 3. Nice addition to the menu, and portions are still generous! I couldnt finish mine! For his birthday, my husband had the Strip Steak, which comes topped with fried onions. Juicy steak cooked to order perfectly, and like all of his other creations, perfect. We havent tried every side dish, but the corn bread is the best Ive had ANYWHERE...moist, perfect. Sweet potato fries are a MUST TRY!! Even my husband who dislikes sweet potatoes loved these! They have a crisp, subtly-spiced coating. Out of this world! Regular fries are also very good. If you like fries, youll love these. BBQ beans are fantastic. Not overly greasy. Mildly smokey and spiced just right. Weve been there maybe 4 times, so we havent tried a lot of the sides and have had NO room for dessert. Keith is such a nice guy. Genuinely friendly, enthusiastic and obviously loves what he does. I cant say enough nice things about Keith. By the way, check out Harbor Q website and click on the link to see the Eyewitness News clip. Pretty cool.

We live not too far away but have dozens of restaurants in the area. We go to harbor Q often. The BBQ is fantastic! Each of us has a special favorite but the dry ribs are out of this world. We all love the homemade potato chips - nothing like the bagged variety. The employees are all friendly and helpful. You can go here in your shorts or nicer clothing; they treat everyone with courtesy and are very helpful. Children love this place; it is casual and comfortable and you dont have to wait for service. If you eat here once, you will become a regular!

I went here based on a recommendation from friends. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. The complimentary potato chips were tasty but very greasy. The baked beans tasted like they were right from a can. My boyfriend and I ordered Kobe burgers with pulled pork. The burger was very small compared to the enormous brioche bun. It didnt make sense. The pulled pork was beyond awful. I took one bite and left the rest....stringy and tasteless. My boyfriend ate it and was sick to his stomach an hour later. Its too bad because it had potential.

Memphis Pig Out Burger is delish and reasonably constructed - non greasy but tasty Kobe topped with juicy pulled pork + perfect amount of lettuce, tom, red onion. The bun had a nice chew and made me seem like neat eater! I asked for extra pickles, which paired nicely. Sides were salted to suit my palate - my guy had collard greens and Cole slaw. Really clean feeling and not overly cooked. I was pleasantly surprised at how everything was prepared with care.

Ive been here 3 or 4 times in the last year. It just does not measure up. Their flavor is passable. Not spiced enough and too sweet for me - but some people like that. The inexcusable sin is simply that their meat is always overcooked. Their ribs are not falling-off-the-bone tender. The pulled pork and beef were dried out. These are basic things. If BBQ is not hot and moist and tender and flavorful - then why have it.

Tasteless, disappointed. This has to be the only BBQ restaurant that you can not smell the BBQ inside or out. The baby back ribs are dry and bland. The brisket was dry and tasteless. The buffalo soldiers are ok but what BBQ joint serves an egg roll and duck sauce, would be better if they were in potato skins. Parks sliders had not flavor, corn bread was alright but tasted that it came from a box. Service was ok

Got wings once. They were terrible enough to not go back but we were told to give them another chance by someone who swore it was great. Ordered wet baby back ribs. They were also garbage. Never getting food from there again. Sweet potato fries and corn bread were excellent though is that means anything.

From the moment Keith welcomes you and they serve the chips you are ready for finger licking food. Up scale BBQ with a number of special beers on tap. I normally dont eat ribs, but I break the rules at Harbor Q and always order a rack. I love the place!

The food is good, the drinks are cheap but theres no air conditioning and the service is a little slow at times. I highly recommend the pulled pork. Dont get a salad, anything past lettuce and dressing will cost you your first born.

Simple family establishment where kids can be kids and adults can feel like kids again. Awesome Louisiana style food with a friendly atmosphere. Make sure you ask for extra napkins. Homestyle casual dining with great service.
