I normally dont write reviews - if a restaurant is bad, I just never go back. However, I wish I had heeded the previous posters advice and stayed far, far away from this place...please do yourself a favor and do the same. The 1-star is for the hush puppies - the only edible dish my husband and I had, and a good portion of it too, which is good b/c the rest of meal was simply unsatisfactory. It came out piping hot and tasted like donuts, though I didnt understand the honey mustard dipping sauce that came with it. The one dish I wanted to try here was the chicken & waffles. How hard could that be to make, right? Well, the fried chicken was nothing special - they are on par with Popeyes or KFC. Small, full of breading. It was crispy, though - Ill give them that. The waffles on the other hand were floppy, doughy pieces of rubber. I prefer my waffles crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside - doesnt everyone? They did not provide syrup, instead they serve them with "honey & raspberry butter". The butter was old, did not taste fresh at all...nothing worse than old butter that tastes like its been sitting in the fridge, uncovered for too long. My husband got the catfish poboy. And being that I dont like fish, I didnt want to try it but forced myself to taste if the fish was fresh. It had that slight "fishy" flavor which, should not exist if the fish is fresh. Not sure why I expected it to be... my husband ate it, even though it was void of any flavor/sauce/seasoning. Lastly, the "ambiance" is overrated. Sure, its railway car exterior is cute and the inside is relatively clean - but there was a smell that reminded me of a hospital as soon as I stepped in. Not what I want to be reminded of when Im about to have a meal. Shouldnt a place that small be wafting of delicious aromas of food? Nope. It smelled sterile. It makes me wonder if they do any actual "cooking". Places like these is why I dont have any faith in the Long Island food scene. Please, if you want good bbq or "comfort food, dont come here. Make a trip to the city and go to Hill Country BBQ, or Mighty Quinns (and many others!), or Butcher Bar in Astoria. Youll spend a little more but you wont hate yourself afterwards.

I dont know why this place gets good reviews. Its charming, in a way, the atmosphere is as described, a trailer with good ol boy tunes playing. The staff seemed very kind and helpful and the food arrived very quickly. On the positive side, its byob, as stated earlier the waitstaff is friendly and the iced coffee is very good and they didnt seem to charge for fountain refills, which is cool. On the downside the food is definately low quaility and sub par. Deep fried chicken with no real flavor and a small amount of meat. The biscuts and gravy are worse than dennys, youre better off going up the road. The brisket was atrocious, tasted old and very fatty and similar to something the lunchlady would unenthusiastically slap onto my tray in highschool. It was gross. The waffles are really unimpressive and dry AF and whatever they pass off as raspberry butter seems to be butter with a little bit of red food coloring. It was actually very disappointing which sucked because it was also not low priced. Im no food snob, but i appreciate a good meal and this place doesnt deliver if thats what you are anticipating. I always say, I just want good food at a fair price and this place missed the mark by a mile. Its grossly overpriced for the small portions and meager quality. There are much better places to eat if youd like a bang for your buck. I wish this place well, but im not about to blow smoke up their a**es and pretend they are something they arent. They need to step their game up immensely. The fact that people are raving about this place is shocking. Are these paid reviews? Are they friends of the staff and owners? Who knows. Maybe people get super drunk and eat here and think its awesome, all i know is it sucked.

Visit date was last month in August 2015, 3- adults for dinner. Arrived 5:30 on a Saturday, easy access and parking in recently paved area. Overall the food, choices and service were exemplary. We were immediately greeted and seated in a booth. There is a seating limit of approximately 18. We were met immediately by a friendly and knowledgeable gentleman and we knew in advance about BYOB and cash only. He brought over plastic-ware for our beer and wine (Im not that fussy at this level of comfort food restaurant that I need fine glassware, LOL) We tried the Fried green tomatoes (thick and awesome), mac and cheese (superb and tasty) as appetizers, then Brisket, Shrimp and ribs, yams, beans and of course dessert, apple cobbler and key lime pie. I have been to ever BBQ location on Long Island both chains and family owned. There are only two things I would change, 1. Please put back up shades or curtains or even reflective film on the windows, way too bright and warm. 2. Could you move a bit closer towards Suffolk County. Thanks, great experience.

BBQ options are limited in Nassau county so I came here for take out based on the majority positive reviews. Its definitely an interesting place, kind of an old fashioned diner/railroad car. The kind of gem you would see on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. The location itself is a bit sketchy, not somewhere Id want to walk around at night. Staff seemed friendly. As for the food, the variety was great but it seemed overpriced for the quality (FYI they only take cash). Had a po boy, BBQ ribs, and fried chicken. The flavors were balanced, pleasantly smokey, and not over-salted like Famous Daves. Bottom line is that I probably wont be back, but would recommend it to local folks. Pros- interesting place, decent BBQ, good variety of menu options Cons- overpriced ($30/rack of ribs), only take cash, small place in obscure location.

Had lunch the other day. I was happy to find a place with Cajun food and really ;looking forward to the meal. Tried the hush puppies and the shrimp & grits. The hush puppies were the size of clam fritters with very little flavor. The shrimp and grits was different. The shrimp were seasoned and cooked well, nice crunch to them. The grits were something I have never had before. They were supposed to be cheese grits, but you couldnt tell. They were smothered with onions and peppers. That really took away from the flavor of the whole dish. On top of that, it was very pricey and the waiter left a lot to be desired. Overall, not worth the price of admission

The best southern cajun style food around, The old railway car is the cherry on the cake, it really provides great ambience, but in reality the food doesn’t need it. The hush puppies are the best a great starter, both gumbos are great. As for main courses, everything I have tried is makes me weep, jambalayas both were great and the po boys are fresh and hearty. Don’t skip the sides, the ones I had are great. Unfortunately I never had room for dessert but I have have deem listed classics like pecan pie. peach cobbler, bread pudding and around mardi gras king cake.
