I really wanted to like this place and I wish I didnt have the experience I did, but its an important one as far as customer service goes. We were having drinks at the bar while waiting for our table. The hostess comes up to us and announces that she will be seating us at one of the tables located right next to the bar, which happens to be right near where we are standing. She starts to set the table and there is a ton of food on the table. Not plates with food on them. Not crumbs, but gooey, large pieces of food directly on the table from the previous group of people sitting there. I ask if she can clean the table before we sit down and thats when it all went downhill. She rolled her eyes at me, stormed off and came back with a rag. Proceeded to wipe off only the areas that had food (in this sort of flicking motion, where some of the food landed in our seats and I later had to wipe down myself), then literally threw the utensils on the table (forks and knives overlapped, nothing sitting on the place settings or napkins) and walked away without a word. Now Im shocked, confused and upset. I walk over to the hostess station and ask her if we can sit down and she gives me a very nasty "yes!". I ask to speak to the manager/owner(?). I watch her go over to him in the kitchen and speak in an angry, animated manner. After about 10 minutes of waiting, he stands about four feet away from me, on the other side of the hostess station, doesnt smile, doesnt say hello, doesnt introduce himself. Instead says, "Whats the problem?" I ask to show him our table and tell him what happened. Before I am mid-way through my description he blurts out, "Im sorry she shouldnt have done that. Sorry. Yeah sorry". Then walks away. He has not looked me in the eye once. I worked in the restaurant industry for over 10 years. When I started as a hostess, if I did what that girl did to me and my friends, my boss would have ripped me a new one (and rightly so!) and would have also given the table a round of drinks or an appetizer...or something to compensate for such a rudeness. Towards the end of my career in the industry as a manager, if one of my hostesses had done anything similar to what Ive described above, I would have ripper HER a new one and also bought the table a round of drinks. Then again, I also would have introduced myself, asked the customer their name and looked the customer in the eye, like a human being. Generally I am very open minded as I understand what a grueling job it is for everyone. But I do believe that respect works both ways. I also found it a bit insane that I was made out to be the bad guy in this scenario. Essentially, she got so angry because I asked her to have our table cleaned before we sat down to dine. The two stars are for two reasons: 1 is for our waitress who was very sweet and organized. 2 is for the food. Its pretty good. Not great. To be brutally honest, Cracker Barrel makes better Chicken and Biscuits (but thats not exactly a stones throw away, is it?) and the meat platter for two was quite greasy. Flavors were good. How long can a restaurant last on its hipster branding and trendy reclaimed interior design? Not very, if it doesnt step up its game. Maybe the random man who claimed to be the manager/owner should take a class on customer service and restaurant management.

A friend called and spoke to the manager to explain that his wife had an operation, handicapped and can stay out bed for a limited time. He knew they wont take reservations and asked if they could just hold a table for 7:00 pm- he will get there 10 minutes early. He was told in a very rude manner"no exceptions!!" Rockville centre is a small, caring community and I hope the word gets out about how callous the mangers of the restaurant are to the handicapped.

Food was good. We got the fried green tomatoes, fried brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese, cord bread, I got the 4 meat platter, my sister had the Reuben. Everyone loved the food. No complaints from anyone. Good portions, good service. Definitely going to be coming back again. Also the place was setup very nicely. The owner put alot of thought into the design of the place. Good selection of alcohol.

Just had the Lord Porkys and man, oh man was it fantastic! All the meats were perfectly cooked. The Mac and cheese was phenomenal! Im definitely going to be a repeat customer!

Great authentic BBQ. Far superior to Smoking Als in Massapequa. Brisket and pulled pork, cant go wrong. Great beer selection too.
