THE WORST EXPERIENCE!!! IF YOU SPEAK ENGLISH, FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO EAT IF YOU WANT TO ACTUALLY EAT WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! I am just returning from the New Hyde Park Diner and I am very upset about my experience!! To begin with, I ordered, for take out, a hamburger and onion rings. I was very shocked when I found that my bill was $22!! Surely, something was amiss!! I discovered that the waitress had given me ONION RINGS *AND* FRENCH FRIES!!! I am big, but not that big!! So, after the order was corrected, my bill came to $14. Still VERY expensive for a hamburger and onion rings! I was thinking, " this had better be one helluva burger"! Oh, and since I was actually craving a steak and was blown away by the $25 steaks on the menu, I opted for a burger with *STEAK SAUCE*. The waitress said ok and gave me a to-go cup of what I thought was steak sauce. I later discovered that the steak sauce was actually BARBECUE SAUCE!! What??? I immediately phoned the diner and asked for the manager. He put me through to the waitress who said that she asked me if barbecue sauce was alright. Youve got to be kidding me!!! I asked for STEAK SAUCE and thats what I wanted!! NOT barbecue sauce!! By the way, to me, there is a HUGE difference!! I again asked to speak with the manager and she had told him that I said it was ok for the barbecue sauce. By the way, the DID have steak sauce, because I was offered steak sauce when he asked me to come back and get it. The reason he gave me for all of the problems?? "SHE DOESNT SPEAK ENGLISH"!! The only thing the manager said is that if I would come back, I could have a side order of steak sauce. ******THE HE PROCEEDED TO HANG UP ON ME!!!***** Oh, and...the food was over cooked and not at all tasty!! I could have gotten a better meal, closer to home and way less expensive, at the Burger King on the corner!!! An overall AWFUL EXPERIENCE!!!

Friendly service, clean and good food. My wife and I call it "our diner", its like Cheers, where everyone knows our name. Weve tried every diner in New Hyde Park (over 40 years) and this is the only diner we frequent. Accessibility: I use a power wheelchair and therefore I always mention accessibility in all my reviews. The diner is wheelchair accessible via a ramp to the entrance. Although the booths are not suitable for wheelchairs they have a number of tables which are. The bathrooms are also wheelchair accessible.

Ordered a BLT w/ cheese wrap and got a grilled panini instead with molten cheese who wants a scolding hot sandwich that is supposed to be cold. If I wanted hit I would have ordered it. Please take the time to care about what you send to your customers, its what they want not what you want to make, have some pride if you dont care maybe its time to leave.

Incredible soup! Try them all. the staff though is crabby ( i dont mean the bus boys, they are nice) and the owner sits there all day...watching you...making sure the staff is doing there job i guess, but ultimately it just makes me uncomfortable and sad for the employees...no wonder the waitresses are a little crabby

Only place in the area that makes grits. Kind of out of the way for us, but we used to come here all the time. On the most recent visit for breakfast, the food had a slight off taste. The waitstaff was nice as always, but it feels like the food is declining.

I loved it food was great, on the pricey side but worth it. If I could have licked my plate, I would have. Cant wait to go back. Try the french toast or their whole wheat pancakes.
