HORRIBLE!!! Do NOT waste your time or money on this one!!! I will start with the food...I use that term begrudgingly...The food is so awful BLAND,Runny re fried beans,Chicken Enchiladas tasted like they were made with BOILED chicken,NO cheese,No spices.Whatever that so called "sauce" that was on them was flavorless! ...We were seated and were not given utensils to eat with,The waiter had NO idea what he was doing...Example...Brought the chips and no salsa (still no utensils) flagged him over to ask for chips he said "ok I will be right back" several minutes passed waiter spotted at another table...Flagged down again...Same response from waiter as before...Waited several more minutes,Waiter finally brings salsa (Still NO utensils) ...Waiter takes order...Ordered Tortilla soup which should be brought prior to the entree however was not! Ordered Guacamole and Pico De Gallo as extras... Entree arrives ( STILL no utensils) I ask for utensils, meanwhile after waiting several more minutes the soup arrives with the long missing utensils! No soup spoon only a teaspoon...The soup was HORRIBLE! There was a HUGE GLOB and I do mean GLOB of bland sour cream (not sure if it actually was) in it! It had to be at least a whole 12 cup! OMG! Talk about ridiculous! Never did get the Guacamole or Pico ....All the reviews left that are favorable on this place are unbelievable ...Proof there are some people who will eat anything and obviously dont care if it has flavor or tastes good.We will NEVER go back!

This restaurant offered the worst service Ive had at a restaurant ever. The food was decent but took absolutely FOREVER to arrive at the table. The waitress didnt check to refill drinks, chips or salsa, even when at the table to take our food order, the salsa was empty and she didnt ask if we wanted more. When she finally dropped off the queso dip we ordered, after a long wait, the chips were almost empty and she didnt bring more to go with what she just brought out. Are we supposed to eat queso with a spoon like soup? We sat there with empty glasses for almost 20 minutes after asking for new drinks. We asked for a refill on salsa and after waiting about 20 minutes again we finally decided to get up and go to the bar to ask for some. When she did end up bringing it to the table we politely said thank you to no response, not even so much as eye contact or a your welcome or anything. The time between walking in the door and finally receiving our food was about 2 hours, and there were plenty of empty tables, it was not due to being busy. Anytime we saw our waitress she was leaning against a wall chit chatting doing nothing, even when we were waiting for our credit card to be brought back to the table after paying. Awful service, we wont be going back there again.

This was our first visit, 7pm on a Saturday night. I sat at the bar for 30 mins and no one asked me if I wanted a drink. We waited just over an hour to be seated, and our drinks were not served until after we were seated. We placed our order, and we watched others that were seated after us had already left and we still had no food. No eye contact with any member of the wait staff, who all seemed to be very stressed out, sigh. We were seated on the end of an isle where staff had to walk by us. Our drinks were empty, we waited at least 20 mins for a refill, the chips and salsa were long gone, still no food. Finally we were told our order slip was lost and they would take off our drinks. Our food finally arrives, 2 hours after we walked in. We ordered a 209, a 32 with one side order. The 209 was not impressive but the 32 was fabulous, and the side order never arrived. We were not impressed by the service, and we were there over 2 hours for just dinner. We noticed that people who appeared to know the staff seemed to be the only ones who got the staffs attention. If you dont mind poor service, long wait times and being ignored by the staff, then this is the place for you. There are too many other places in this area that have earned our business.

This a the best Mexican food in the WNY area. I have been Dining at La Tolteca for about 4 years, at least once a month. Yes, as another reviewer commented, sometimes the wait staff is significantly challenged to provide adequate table service but that has improved over the years. Some of the staff are excellent and do a really great job. The food is always excellent, in the past 4 years I have never had a bad meal. They also do a good job keeping the place clean. I love the Grand Sampler Platter because it has all my favorites (this is an excellent dish to share with your date), I also would recommend the Enchiladas Poblanas, they are excellent! When you put in you drink order I would recommend asking for the Queso and Guacamole dip with your chips and salsa and the Frozen Mango Margaritas are excellent. If youre too full to finish, take your leftovers home, they are excellent the next day! Just leave out the lettuce, it will be too wilted the next day. I really hope that the owner keeps up the good work, continues to make improvements and treats his employees good, I would really miss this place if it ever went out of business.

Unfortunately I had a bad experience at this restaurant. Every employee I encountered seemed stressed out and uninterested; as if they were waiting for the seconds to count down until they leave. We were sat at a table that was certainly unwashed with salsa stains and even a wine glass that was used! In addition our table was right by a dish station where waiters/waitresses dropped off dirty dishes with considerable noise. The food was absolutely nothing to comment on. The absolute worst was the refried beans, which were similar to a milkshake-like consistency. Other than that, the food seemed bland, thrown together carelessly and unflattering. I realize they do not charge gourmet prices, however considering their prices I would have greatly preferred taco bell or mighty taco! I can only hope that I caught this restaurant during the perfect storm of poor operation and the experience of others will be different. I will not be returning to this restaurant, and I feel your money, time and business should be directed elsewhere.

La Tolteca is a great Mexican Restaurante for anyone wishing to try some Authentic cuisine. The restaurant itself has a wonderful ambience and a great bar area if you are looking to have a margarita or Corona. Sometimes they even run lime margarita specials which are out of this world. I have tried many different dishes on the menu since I have visited numerous times. You are greeted with chips and Salsa which sets the mood for the rest of your food. The Chile Relleno is fantastic. Along with the Pollo Asado, Chimichangas, and Taco Salad. I also tried the Enchiladas and Tacos because most of the combos come with three choices. The Fried Ice Cream is one of my favorites along with Churros and Flan. The staff is friendly and efficient: two qualities which make dining more pleasurable. If you catch the restaurant on a Monday night you may get to see a live Mariachi Band. They too make the dining experience a great one! And it is all for a reasonable price.
