I have been living in Jackson for 20 years. I have never been to the Jackson Diner before so I decided to take my wife out for breakfast there. As we first walked into the diner it seemed very nice with all that 50s type deco.. We were seated as soon as we walked in the door, which was nice. My wife ordered Pork Roll Egg and cheese on a bagel and I ordered 2 eggs over medium with sausage and home fries with rye toast well done but not burnt. I asked the waterless if the home fries has onions in it. she said yes it does and I said great! Our order came quite quickly, as the waitress delivered our food my wifes meal looked good, but my breakfast was not like anything Ive ever seen or ordered from a diner... the eggs look great the sausage looked great the toast was very lightly toasted or should I say it was more like it was warmed.. now the thing that really thru me off the edge was the home fries. all I could see was raw to warmed chopped onions completely covering the home fries... at first I did not see any home fries at all but just the chopped onions. Really??? who has a brain in the Jackson diner? Again.. I asked the waitress IF there was onions in the home fries not to cover the home fries completely with raw onions... Needless to say I will never be going to the Jackson diner again but I will tell everyone I know in town to never go there.... I am shocked that the waitress would serve something like that to a customer. I am not the kind of person who complains about a food order to a waitress and have it sent back to the cook... I think you know where I am going with that one. So I just suck it up and never go to that place again. If you live in Jackson please save your self the trouble of going there. I know your choices of dining IN Jackson is limited but I would rather drive the distance and wait in line than to be served food like that. The check came to $18 and change and I would like you to know that I left the remaining dollar and change from the 20 dollar bill that I paid to the cashier for a tip to the waitress. Oh by the way when I paid the bill the cashier never asked me how my meal was... If you have ever had a bad meal from a diner you must know how I feel.

a decent diner with a fair assortment of choices. However, on a recent visit, we had an interesting experience. 1) when we were seated, the host asked some folks if anyone ahd been by to take their order and they replied NO. 2) within 5 minutes of being seated, we did see a waitress who was in a bad mood and showed it. 3) we noted that early bird special receives a free dessert (on the dessert list), 50% off certain appetizers and 10% off the check over $50.00. We were there for Early bird so we paid close attention to our check 4) one of our party ordered a qualifying meal. when dessert time came around, we asked about the free dessert and the waitress told us it was ONLY FOR THE WEEKTIME. However the card and the placemat said 7 days a week. I went up to the host/manager to ask for a resolution, and he then spoke with the waitress who argued with him in front of me. I went and sat down, and they brought us our piece of pie. when we got the bill, the pie had been deducted 100%. Summary: There was no 10% discount (our bill was just over $50.00 even without the pie. I decided (as the bill-payer) that we should not push the issue since they gave us a free slice of apple pie. However, the confusion here speaks volumes about how this shop is run. On top of that, our food was ok but not fantastic. The food is certainly fine, but its the attitude that concerned our party. We probably will not return, though I may return for breakfast on rare occasion.

BEWARE OF THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVE A FOOD ALLERGY. Large disappointment, definitely lost a customer today. The environment is great for a small, hometown, 50s-style diner. Speaking for those who have gluten-sensitivity (aka celiacs disease: allergy to wheat, barley, rye), this place failed terribly. I tried to explain my problem to the waitress and why I couldnt have toast and home fries due to the allergy and asked if I could have a cup of fruit in lieu of this--I was told there are no substitutions. And furthermore, I would have to pay for any substitutions. From there, a manager came over asking for "names of waitresses" in the past who have done this for me (TERRIBLY unprofessional). Because I was sitting at the counter, I had to hear other wait staff talking about the situation. It was quite strange that such a request really rocked the boat at this place. Needless to say, I will not return to this diner, which is a shame because I really did enjoy myself on several occasions up until this incident. In judging by the reviews it seems that customer service isnt their strong-suit, which is quite a shame. To lose a customer over poor food service is a loss when given that diners are a dime-a-dozen in this area.

If you go for breakfast its great. Prices are a little higher than most other diners, usually about $4.75 for eggs and potatoes where its almost $6 here. Most sandwiches are good but not great, the hamburgers are good but theyre hamburgers so hard to mess up. Chicken parm sandwich the sauce is really salty and the cheese was like plastic, hated my life for ordering that. The soups weve had are OK nothing special with them. Weve been for dinner twice where we ordered the dinner plates and while a decent amount of food was served, we were not hungry after, the food was just subpar. Nothing really special about it and living in NJ I have had great food from diners before. Usually a little line to get in as its not huge but can seat a moderate amount of people. The decor is cool if youre into the 50s look. The staff was always friendly and food was always served hot. People working there are awesome but the food just isnt what I wish it was.

I am very offended and disgusted by your choice of staff. My friend and I went to enjoy a nice meal on our break for work and after I already paid, I was told I was not allowed to dine there again unless I changed my shoes because they smelled like horses. Heard no complaints from waitresses or surrounding customers, and have dined there in my work attire on several occasions. We actually had customers come up to us and tell us how cool it was that we ride horses. We will not be returning and will let others know about our experience. Horrible, horrible customer service. And I am a retail worker, so I know customer service. It is Not smart to discriminate horse and farm owners. Our money is just as good as everyone elses and there are a lot of us in the area.

Wouldnt recommend, if you are handicapped there is no where to wait, and there is generally a wait.My experience which has happened 4 or 5 times now is you wait 30 40 minutes patiently they call your name and give you 30 seconds to come in from outside and then give away your seat and then, after they do that they put your name to the bottom of list ! And now there is no where for my wife who is handicapped with M.S. to sit ! Ifelt compelled to finally put this in writing. Because I believe the Zimmerman family isnt aware of how there customers are being treated . And my name is on this review because it is my first ever and I am owning it!!!! Also the food and the waitresses and waiters are VERY GOOD!!! ITS JUST GETTING IN THERE IS THE CHALLENGE!
