For exquisitely prepared Indian food take a drive on the South-side of Route 35 past Monmouth Mall to Tandoor E India (near Dominos Pizza, before PEP BOYS,) and prepare to say, "Ahhh!". Simple signage out in front belies the ambiance, delicate flavors and succulent fare within: soft lighting, clean, dressed tables with cotton napkins, soft Indian music, Indian art ... and whopping delicious buffets: Lunch: $8.95 or $9.95 depending on meat/meatless preferences Dinner: $16.95 dinner BUF-FESTIVAL For lunch, my son and I chose one meat and one meatless meal: We gazed at each other through the clouds as we served ourselves from steamy trays: flaky pakoras, mouth-watering chicken makni, tender, aloo-this and fragrant gobi-that. We each grabbed a giant spoon: Juicy tandoori chicken with accompanying veggies for me, sag-somethings for both, and lightly folded naan, that delicious Indian bread, perfect for tear-it-off do-it-yourself scoops. The attentive wait-staff watched in silence while we ate our grub; is there any better way to eat than with your hands? Tandoor-E India may be a tad hard to find so keep in mind that is in the South-bound lane, set back in a mall directly across the highway from the red STS automotive store. Close to work, I have found an Indian restaurant in our area reminiscent of my all time favorite Indian restaurant Neelams, in Middletown! I am happy. Life is good.

I started eating lunch with colleagues at this restaurant since early 1990s. This restaurant has been my favorite lunch place. Although its a bit drive from where we work, we were all very happy to make the effort because it is quiet and the food is good and plenty (for lunch buffet), not to mention that the owner is one of the nicest restaurant managers I have ever met. I always feel being home when I eat there. The price for lunch buffet is very reasonable, especially that I always get $1 off as the vegetarian bonus, while my meat-eater friends get to eat the tasty chicken tandoori, etc. I like the freshly made naan bread and the vegetarian curry dishes - cauliflower, broccoli, lentil, green pea, or chick pea. I dont know about the meat dishes but they appear just as good. The dishes are changed often. There are always a couple of desert dishes to enjoy at the end. I usually call them 1 day ahead if our group is large than 4, otherwise we would just pop in. I have never been there for dinner due to the distance from where I live. The owner told me that evening business is busier than lunch. You may want to call them and make reservations if you plan to have dinner there. This is a family owned and operated restaurant. I have watched their children growing from little kids to helpful teens right at the restaurant.

Really dont understand the negative reviews of this place. Tandoor E India is a really good, authentic Indian restaurant! We took a chance with a Groupon. To our surprise, the place was clean. The service was polite and friendly. And the food was AMAZING! We ordered some basics, samosa appetizer, garlic naan, chicken tikka masala and chicken vindaloo. The portions were very generous. We both had to take half of our entree home. The meats were tender and juicy. The sauces were fresh and flavorful as well as having the right amount of spice. We loved New York City for its plentiful quality Indian restaurants. Since moving to Jersey, we have yet to find one as good. That is, until today. We had a great meal and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended!

Tandoor e India is consistently outstanding. The food is fantastic and the service is always spot on. The buffet is always a good choice for someone who hasnt had Indian before or, quite frankly, cant make up their mind and may want a little bit of everything. The buffet has an assortment of appetizers, salad, breads, meat dishes, vegetable dishes, basmati rice and dessert. Always good! If you want to order off the menu be prepared for some real treats! Whether you go with a chicken, seafood or lamb dish they are all sure to please! The appetizers are delicious and ordering up some naan or a deliciously puffy poori will help complete the meal! Ive been going here for 17 years now and they havent lost their touch!

This location has been open for 20 years. The family that owns the place is great. The owner will get you anything you want and is very friendly and helpful. The food is some of the best I have and at an excellent value. One dish feeds two people and comes with rice, appetizers and chutney. I usually get the buffet wish has so many options, vegetarian chicken and lamb. It comes with dessert, nan, somosas, pakoras, salad, and papadum. I cant say enough great things. Oh and the mango lassis are a must

We hesitated...mixed reviews and higher prices. But we went. A very hidden, unpretentious, and quite authentic place, in a strip mall (that is past its prime) on the south side on 35.....So how was the food? We chose the buffet. It offered lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes; rice, nan, sauces, desserts.... Plenty of rich flavors, great use of spice, and tender cooked meats. The dinner buffet was only $19. per person. It is a wholly repeatable meal. Definitely well be back!

This restaurant is one of the best by far when it comes to authentic indian food.i usually order creamy dishes " chicken makahni" which is one my favorites and lots of garlic naan. The staff is pretty friendly too. They are BYOB and also have buffet.the buffet price is reasonable and provides a nice variety to introduce you to the food you never tried before. Do something tonight and try some indian food in this restaurant. I bet youll love it.

The food was extremely good and the owner was very helpful in resolving a navigational issue. The map location is incorrect on Google maps and most likely GPS. The actual restaurant location is further south on US - 35, in the Orcard(sp?) plaza. When you get to 1610 on GPS, make sure to keep driving south, because that location is actually 2121 or something like that.

I found this place accidentally. I love Indian food and was happy to stumble across them. I came for lunch and typical of most Indian restaurants, they offer a lunch buffet. While the selection is fairly small, the food is very good. At $9.95 for a non-vegetarian meal, Im satisfied with that. I had a great lunch and will definitely come back for dinner.

These guys dont deserve to run a restaurant. Food is stale. Biriyani is a joke. You see almost raw tomatos and undercooked onions in almost all the dish including biriyani. Raita alone is 5 dollars. What ever papad they kept in lunch buffet tray was served to us. @Owner - its Shame on you to share such a food. Such a shame to Punjab and india

Arguably the worst Indian food I have ever had........I just walked out with a " bad taste in my mouth"........you walk in to the musty smell inside......the dinner buffet does not have any taste at all......the only saving grace are the people serving the customers who seemed to be polite.....Will not recommend....ever!
