Lucky ima chef n pre prepared for bullshit to happen....we ordered a fried turkey to be picked up called yesterday to re insure...boss says he is going to pick up more turkeys for tomorrow....ok cool everything sounds good...get up this morning to drive all the up there and who would of knew no fried turkeys.. But they got smoked turkeys....then he tried to act like its same thing!! After he said we order for last week...wait what? Then said we order a smoked turkey, which is totally wrong said we order for the 18th wtf why? N wrong .wrong again i called the 25th, then they said they called us serval times..its 2015 where your phones shows your call history not a damn missed call...not once trying to please the customer at all....this is the worst place ive ever been too....with the most disrespect i wouldnt want them cooking my food n the nerve of the attitude they gave... Lucky i have a turkey defrosted in the fridge to save the day...dont waste your time

Horrible, absolutely horrible...I ordered two pulled pork sandwiches with their hot barbecue sauce and a side of "mac & cheese" but in reality what I got was some unsauced chopped pork in a Styrofoam container with two pieces of white bread and some bland a** macaroni with no cheese. White bread?? Are you kidding me?? Burger King makes a better pulled pork sandwich and these people! How could you not be embarrassed to even serve it like that? Oh thats right because these people clearly dont care or know anything about serving their customers REAL barbecue food. From Texas to New Orleans to the Carolinas, never have I been served a pulled pork sandwich on f***ing white bread. Certainly not worth 20 bucks or my business again. They should call this place "BBQ..the way poor people eat it"

I went here on a Thursday night at 9pm with my father. We parked right on the street and were welcomed by the owner Lawrence. I got the full rack of ribs and my father got the ribs/brisket combo. We both got a side of yams, corn on the cob and cornbread. Everything was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. All of the food was cooked perfectly. Lawrence was so nice and explained that the recipes come from his mother and grandmother and are traditional from North Carolina. The service was exceptional and the food was even better. I highly highly recommend this place if you truly want to know what good BBQ is. On top of everything, the ambiance really gives you that Southern vibe and puts you in a setting where you feel like the only proper thing to do is eat some ribs!

My wife and I went on Saturday and must say we were pleasantly surprised with the great generous portions of food for very affordable prices. We have been graving BBQ for the past month and The Wood pit definitely cured those cravings. The brisket, chicken, macaroni & cheese (have been dying to have macaroni & cheese for some time now), cornbread & french fries all hit the spot! We even got some food to go!! The food is served so fresh and hot that even the take out we ordered was still hot by the time we got home (20 minute drive). I cant wait for round two at dinner!!! If you are looking for some real BBQ with large servings in a friendly environment then you cant go wrong here - especially for the price!

Hours on website indicated that the restaurant opened at 11:30AM on Tuesdays. Went there at 1:00PM today (Tuesday) and the place was closed and door was locked. Appears to have closed down for good. That is a shame since all the reviews looked promising and I was looking forward to it. JBW - You went @ 12:45am for and they were open and served you lunch? Interesting..... Get a grip? Huh??? I work in Roseland and drove 1/2 hour each way (spending my entire lunch hour just to find out that the place was closed. I have a right to post this review and react negatively to a place that advetises its hours as being open and fails to meet the needs of its customers.

The pork ribs are incredible and the portions are huge. The super hot BBQ sauce is hot but in the right sort way - not the look what i can do, melt your face off sort of hot that some insist on producing. But dont get me wrong it WILL make your nose run a little. The woman working the counter was super friendly, and a gentleman that I assume to be the owner [due to newspaper clipping on the wall] even came out front to "see how I was doing with my ribs and brisket". I loved this place. How an authentic southern rib joint wound up in Northern New Jersey I dont know but next time I am thru ill will certainly be stopping for pork ribs and super hot BBQ!

Really not a good first time experience. looked this place up online, even seen how highly rated by nj monthly. we ordered the family pack I with the chicken ribs sides and cornbread. the ribs were actually cooked to perfection. soft, juicy. but there was no seasoning in any of the food. everything lacked flavor and seasoning. the bottom of thr cornbread was burnt, the chicken was really burnt, and the collards had no salt. the only thing that saved the meal was the bbq sauce. very very disappointing, especially after i saw how highly they were rated.

Ive been going here for at least four or five years, and it never disappoints. I usually get the brisket, and it is always very moist and tender. The BBQ sauce is out of this world. Very flavorful, and if you like hot, they will give you hot. The family is probably some of the nicest people that I have met. Very friendly and very nice people. I am also a big fan of the mac and cheese with the BBQ sauce on it. Walk in the door and you will know why I want to make the smell inside of this place an air freshener for my car, and for my home. Well worth the trip.

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT. This place is great. I had the 2 meat sampler. It was $18.95 and I got 5 ribs and a big pile of pulled pork. I had BBQ beans which were done very nicely and a good portion and collard greens which were tangy and with a little heat from the pepper. The plate came with a HUMUNGOUS piece of delicious cornbread. The piece was 4-5" wide, 4-5" long and close to 2" thick. It was also fresh and delicious. The staff was helpful, friendly and terrific. My family will be going back whenever the need for BBQ strikes us.

Probably not. This little spot has the best BBQ meats around. Brisket, the Ribs, the Chicken are all slap somebody good. Dont bother if youre not into smoked meats--which if you love BBQ you should be. Not a high-fallutin type of joint--folks are friendly, dining is casual. Some of the sides dont live up to the high marks of the meat, but the smoked corn is worth waiting until summer for. The red velvet cake is serious--not yellow cake with red dye. I dont think Ive been to a better BBQ spot north of the Mason-Dixon or East of Appalachia.
