I ORDERED BBQ RIBS AND CHICKEN COMBO, THE MEAT WAS NOT PROPERLY COOKED. IT HAS RAW TASTE. WENT TO THE BATHROOM AFTER 10 MINS EATING WITH AN UPSET STOMACH. I DONT KNOW IF THESE PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO COOK BBQ, OR PROBABLY DONT KNOW HOW TO USE THE GRILL, BUT THE FOOD IS NOT TOTALLY COOK AND TASTE BAD. THE WAITTRESS /CASHIER DOESNT MAKE EYE CONTACT, THE COOK LOOKS LIKE A FELON. THE LOCATION IS IN THE GHETTO (W/C EXPLAINS EVERYTHING). WHEN I HEARD ABOUT THE NAME PORTUGUESE RESTAURANT, AUTOMATICALLY COMES TO MY MIND IS QUALITY, GREAT TASTING FOOD, BUT THIS ONE IS PROBABLY THE WORST PORTUGUESE BBQ I HAVE EVER EATEN. READING THE REVIEWS LEADS TO COME HERE, BUT THESE PEOPLE WHO GAVE GOOD REVIEWS PROBABLY HAVE LOW STANDARDS AND THATS WHY EVERYTHING TASTE GOOD TO THEM. THERES PLENTY OF GREAT BBQ JOINT IN KEARNY AREA SUCH AS BOA VISTA GRILL. I WONT BE BACK AND I WONT RECOMMEND TO FRIENDS. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND SAVE YOUR MONEY.

I Tried them twice a year apart, on both occasions the food was flavorless. I noticed the food had no sauce on it whatsoever. This was probably due to the fact that they sell the barbecue sauce separately for $0.50. Gentleman at the front counter wearing the hat was cold, very much so in a rush despite there being only one person waiting behind me. Their customer service leaves much to be desired. I have the inclination they do not care much for their local customers, as they made no attempt to be friendly to anyone I observed making purchases with them.

Whoo! Best meal Ive had this year! I had the BBQ pork ribs and chicken combo with rice and beans and vegetables and there is still more! Its a lot of food! The meat was tasty and even the skin of the chicken which I usually never eat, was succulent. I enjoyed the cabbage, potato and carrots, very good. I have ordered here from the past and I enjoy the food. It takes a while to get delivery but it is worth the wait:) I ordered from the Irvington restaurant and everyone was nice and professional.

Was great as always. Sadly, most of the family comes in for a funeral and we choose this resturant for a repast of sorts. The waitress was gracious and patient with our indecisiveness. Great atomosphere. Easy to book last minute reservations. As "out-of-towners", we are pleased. I am returning in about a month to really tip that special waitress. She knows who she is! Hint: she does not write down orders! Lol

Omg.....My sister and I was looking for a place that sold ribs... I mean good tasting ribs and this restaurant came highly recommended. They didnt disappoint. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Will b back for more. The service there was accommodating and very friendly and clean. If u can give more than five stars I would. Just go and try it for yourself. It wont disappoint.

The experience here is horrible. They do not aknowledge you when walking in store, youre better off calling to place an order over the phone and picking it up. I dont appreciate that because this is Irvington area, they feel the need to be ignorant. That was never okay. The younger guy at the front desk is rude. The ladies are nicer. Overall the food experience is good.

Did a pit-stop in Irvington to see an old partner from Ft Lee and Ft Campbell, and he took me to Burnet BBQ on chancellor Ave.. Best juicy pork sandwich ever!! Made more memorable by the cordiality of the counter and wait-staff who were very welcoming, also. The restaurant and those gals would win business down here in the 757

I usually order and pick up. Been doing so for 2 years now once I was visitng NJ. Now Ive moved here and was extremely excited about ordering. I asked for delivery and because of the street I live on they refused. Im literally 1.6 miles away. I am extremely dissapointed

LOVE THIS PLACE.......... 99% of the time i go there the food & Service is great ..But its just that 01% time that the Regular Main cook or Service staff is out that the food & Service might be little undesirable.... But 5 Stars for sure !!!!

Good food. The waiter was very nice and helped me to order, once I had never been in a Portuguese BBQ. The garlic sauce wasnt that good, but the pork ribs were delicious. Good place to go if you dont want to spend too much.
