Can I give this a negative star? I have been to a lot of diners, being a born and raised Jersey Girl, this diner is by faaaaar the worst I have ever been to. Service was mediocre, server smelled like cigarettes. I dont mind that he is a smoker, but at least come back to the table with a piece of gum in your mouth and your hands washed. The food? Absolutely disgusting!!! We ordered a seafood platter appetizer it wasnt even hot at all, the calamari was rubbery, the breading was bland, the scallops were dripping in oil and the fish was just indescribable. The main dishes werent any better! My husbands pot roast was sooo bland and tasteless in a gravy that looks like it came out of a can. Vegetables were so over cooked you couldnt even pick them up with a fork before they crumbled and fell on the plate. I ordered a Greek dish, figuring when in Rome right? Absolutely greasy, chop meat tasteless, was supposed to be served with a bechamel sauce, it was served with a red bland watery imitation of pasta sauce. Needless to say $50.00 later, we left the restaurant hungry and disgusted. This place needs a make over from the inside of the dining area all the way to the kitchen. Everything is greasy and tasteless and the manager just sat at the counter watching TV, when she should be checking on the food that comes out of the kitchen and the patrons in her diner. First and last time at this place, someone call Robert Irvine, Versailles Diner is in desperate need of him.

Ate at diners in NY 20 years ago and was looking forward to this experience. We have since moved back to this area and I took my 7 yo daughter and it was not good. They were out of the daily special despite a 5pm dinner and the place nearly empty. The kicker was the Greek platter (not to assume the owners are Greek, but I think they are). It was terrible. My 7 yo knows something about food taste and said the chicken was dry. I tasted it, it was like rubber. The food portions seemed ok, but quality was not there. I have no idea what I ate, that is how memorable the trip was. I will never eat here again.

What happened to the other owners?????? I remember when I ordered chicken fingers I got real long chunks of REAL chicken with that delicious homemade honey mustard sauce, even the breading was amazing. Now its just another processed food joint. YUCK!!! Even the cheesecake tasted better years before. WHAT HAPPENED??? WAS IS IT THE CHEF THAT LEFT? PLEASE IMPROVE ON YOUR FOOD AND MAKE IT MORE HOMEMADE WITH FLAVOR. You go to a diner to eat homecooked meals, thats the whole point!! SMH, SO DISAPPOINTED IN YOU.

We came here to take a break from furniture shopping and this was certainly a different experience. The food is your average diner food. The server was friendly. The most interesting part, which I have never seen before in my life, the host led us to a table while staring at his phone and plopped the menus down and walked away looking at his phone. I get its a diner, but doesnt mean you can have manners or be professional.

The women at the counter was rude we ordered wings and you could fold the carrots and celery in half they we so old taylor ham tasted frozen and old the bread was stail. The old man who served us was also very cold. Then the lady at the counter asked how things were and i told her she became cold and defensive instead of being apologetic of the terrible food. The place is dirty and old. We will never go back.

I should mention that I only visit during the late night. That being said, such a great diner. Dinners and appetizers are always hot, fresh, and bold. A nice, hot coffee. And what can I say about The Berry Cake that would really explain how incredible it tastes? Nothing. You hafta give it a whirl for yourself. Versailles Diner, Baaabby! Woo, thats a Good Meal.

As far as diners go I am afraid that we were disappointed with this one. It was difficult to find a waiter and get prompt service. All of the food was served lukewarm to cold -- even the french fries. And apparently the kitchen has never heard of salt, everything was lacking in seasoning. Next time we are in the area we will try one of the other options there.

Sorry folks - find another diner further down on 46!! Placed an order to go, found out the prices had DOUBLED, and on top of it, they didnt even have the courtesy to wrap the sandwich fully!! Dont waste your time or your money - this is not one of Jerseys finer diners!!

I used to enjoy this place back in the hay day, but feel like it has gone down a bit like on the tired side. The service is good but has gone down a bit. Food is not bad just average and found it to be on the dirty side.

Pleasantly surprised! It doesnt look like much from the outside, kinda like a deserted business. Thankfully it was not. I expected it to be a dive blah place but the good was great, staff was friendly. Well go back.

Great breakfast spot. Enjoyed the bacon omelet. Great serving size; plenty of food. Only down side was the coffee. Pretty weak and lacking in flavor. Otherwise great place for breakfast.
