Makkoli Seafood Buffets keeps its head up high and its quality consistent as it serves up a pretty good mix of hot and cold Japanese foods in its nothing-too-special yet not-too-boring restaurant. This buffet serves up hot Far East Asian cuisine favourites, such as Gyoza (餃子), Shumai (焼売) and Tempura (天ぷら); cold favourites, such as Seaweed Salad [Wakame] (ワカメ), Crabmeat "Kani" Salad and Soy-Sesame Tofu; Sushi and Sashimi selections, including California Roll, Salmon, うなぎ (Unagi, Eel) and much much more. Everything from starter plates to desserts youll find here at a not-so-bad price for what youre getting. I havent too many things to say about the food because its not bad for the buffet business of "Quantity over Quality." The food is not difficult to eat and does taste good. Hot foods are hot and at temperature while cold foods feel and taste fresh. Considering the open environment where the sushi chefs prepare, you can see the chefs prepare the sushi and sashimi youll be eating. Thats always a good quality to have. All-around, the buffet stations are clean and that also contributes well to the freshness of the foods there. The service wasnt anything too special nor anything horrible. Of course, the friendliest is up in the front prior to being served. However, the wait staff are not neglectful of the customers in the dining area, so thats always a positive thing! When it all comes around together, the price youre paying for is mostly worth it. Sure, its a little high up there, but I think youll be pleased to find that, compared to some other Japanese Seafood Buffets, this one does pretty good for where its at. Also, before you look up coupons, let me advise you that although youre getting 10% off or something of the like in most of the coupons they supply year-round, you pretty much pay it back in tax and tips.

I went for lunch today and having not been there in quite sometime I was looking forward to enjoying lunch. I went in an got fast service to be seated. I then went to get a plate of sushi. Some of the sushi looked dry and not fresh. I am a sushi eater at least 2-3 times a week. The plates were empty and it was not very busy but when I ask to have a roll made as there was none out on the plate I sushi maker just looked at me ( I dont think he understood English. After waiting for about 10 minutes the roll was made and a customer before took the entire roll. He looked at me that there was no more of the spider roll which is one of favorites at the same time another sushi roll was preparing raw salmon with no gloves on. The hot food area everything was cold and very small amounts out there. I asked for the manager as I left the restaurant after paying. I explained my problem and got excuses for everything. First- the food was cold because it was cold outside and they had no heat on in the restaurant. Second- The wearing of no glove is so that they cam feel the bones in the fish then they put gloves on when making the sushi and they expect me to eat it. Third- They were all on there phone and one of them was eating while making sushi. The quality used to be much better even the soup was cold and how can miso be eaten that way. This should be a 1 star but the waitress cleaned my plate 1 time.

We went for 2nd time since we were impressed by 1st time but were disappointed. Granted we came late for lunch buffet but as we had to wait for kids to come back from school. We misunderstood what host had said since we understood shell let us stay for dinner and pay same price - we were not the only one since another couple came late and assumed the same. The food was literally cold since theyd turned off the burners. Then we were constantly told to take as much food as we can since they were going to clean up. So, then we found out we cant take dinner food and pay lunch price. We offer to pay dinner price since food is inedible; even some tasted sour/spoiled already. But, host said we needed to pay both lunch and dinner price if we were to stay and eat dinner food. Basically, they we paid for food they were going to throw out anyway, so we were doing them a favor. Bottom-line, we ate garbage for buffet! We probably wont come back here for a while. At least East Buffets food is still warm at end of a lunch buffet period and theyll let you pay for dinner instead if you overstay and eat. Shame, shame!!!

If I could give them zero stars, I would. We went there for dinner, spontaneously and they had a 10% promotion. We regret it very much. First, the hot dishes were dry and old. It looked like the dishes have been sitting out there for awhile. The tempura dishes were stall and greasy, same with the vegetables. We basically skipped them all. The sushi was okay. Took out rice from 3-4 pieces of sushi and it looked like it could add up to a bowl of rice. The staff spoke in their language and thought I couldnt understand but the whole time they were making offensive remarks and complaining about their tips. But honestly, you work in a buffet. When we said thanks for collecting our dishes they ignored us. When we ask for a glass of ice, they dont respond and just walk away to get it and left it on our table like if we were a bother to them. I am completely dissatisfied about paying $40 for two for dinner. Even when I was signing my check, the waitress stood there next to me watching me. She was so rude. My boyfriend rarely complains about food but he never wants to go back and we NEVER WILL GO BACK.

Came here for dinner last night, my first although the bfs probably 20th time. Decent selection of seafood, including fresh oysters and clams- very juicy. I bypassed the sashimi as Ive seen WAY better. I did indulge in a something tempura crab roll, which I had high expectations for as it looked DELICIOUS but left disappointed as it was stale. On the bright side, I did enjoy the seriously JUMBO stuffed shrimp. In fact, I had 3 and it took up half my plate. Other notables, honey ribs (so good!), coffee cake (went amazing with cookies & cream ice cream), crab legs (if you can get any. they were pretty good about refills but everyone made a beeline for that when it came out) and overall freshness. Ive been to other places with much more choices, but this wasnt a bad way to spend the night. One more thing- Waiter guy, please look at what I ordered! BF and I had sprite and both times that the waiter came over to refill our drinks, he refilled with WATER. Yes, he was nice enough to give us new drinks, but really? That got old, fast.

This was one of my favorite Sushi Buffets to go to. The lunch price is affordable, and the dinner price is worth it for the times you are in the mood for the extras they bring out. First of all the negatives: their hot food selection is a bit weak, especially around the lunch time where some of the food can be out there a while as they dont have a large base of customers for the lunch period. But if youre there mainly for the sushi its a great value, with good selections available. Dinner is the best bet for food quality, and thats also the time they have the eel sushi pieces available (my favorite!) and its just delicious. If youre a sushi fan, definitely worth it - but if not, then you should probably pass for a buffet thats a bit better balanced. Edit: Ever since I found a piece of my hair once for lunch, I only go back occasionally. I still like the food here, but that one bad experience has unfortunately colored my experience of the restaurant completely.
