For the buffet side of this restaurant, it tends to be busy Fri Night, Sat and Sun. Certain holidays the wait can be as long as an hour. A large noisy hall with a variety of tables and booths. Also separate rooms that are offered to parties to be more secluded. Main room colored disco ball goes off for birthdays... Great selection of tasty sushi and sashimi. Sushi bar: vegetable, salmon, red tuna, white tuna, yellowtail, herring, s. skin, eel, squid, octopus, and combination rolls, some with white or brown rice, previously prepared. Raw bar buffet: clams, oysters, cooked cold shrimp, cooked cold mussles. Cold buffet: salad, vegetables, edamame, seaweed salad, etc. Hot buffet: udon noodles, lo mein, white rice, fried rice and sticky rice in banana leaf, various tempura-coated food, soups (miso, wonton, seafood), Asian seasonal vegetables, sauted string beans, snow crab legs, coconut shrimp, white fish fillets, pork ribs, chicken teriyaki, etc. Dim sum bar: various buns & steamed dumplings Mongolian cooking table. Dessert: fruit, cakes, cheesecake, and many jello flavors (like coffee and mango), as well as 8 ice cream flavors, including my favorite: green tea. Variety of drinks, which cost extra, including Coke products & Hot green tea. Though I have come here over a dozen times, I have not tried the Hibachi side of this restaurant. I highly recommend this place. Service as expected at a buffet, to clean your plates from the table reasonably quickly.

I really dont understand what anyone can complain about- if you go for lunch on a weekday the price is only like, 12 dollars a person for unlimited sushi. Obviously its not going to be the absolute best compared to some higher end restaurants, but damn for a sushi buffet which I was highly skeptical of at first, it satisfies my cravings. Ive actually seen them cut the meat right off of the fish, which was nice to see it being freshly prepared. And honestly its always so busy that the fish is never sitting out for long, anyway. Ive had all kinds of sushi from grocery store sushi to Nakazawas in New York, as well as sushi in Japan. For the price and cleanliness of the place, its really a great place for sushi. The only suggestion I have is to go for lunch because dinner is unfortunately overpriced just to include the option of the grill which I never get food from, anyway. As far as the hibachi, I personally have never had it there but have heard its pretty decent. I read in an earlier review that they werent seated for hibachi because of the "language barrier" which is bs because everyone there speaks perfect english. They could have pointed to the hibachi tables which are right there. Although the buffet food isnt anything to brag about I really dont go to the buffet for the cooked food when there is unlimited sushi available.

My son and I are connoisseurs in Hibachi. We went to Tokyo Hibachi for lunch today and it was the WORST by far. The Tempura was heavy and thick and aside from the Chef being a novice and flinging a suish knife at me ( accidentally) the rest of the food was awful. The noodles were oily, the egg in the rice was burnt giving everything else a burnt taste. I ordered shrimp, which were undercooked , I know right, thats almost impossible; my son ordered steak which was ok and chicken which as he described was watery, translates to biting into it water spurts in your mouth. The only thing outstanding was the ice cream. Total bill 54.00 which wasnt tooo bad but food was absolutely terrible. Much prefer Hibachi in Freehold Boro...

I went once for dinner and it was not bad.. food was overall good selection and the price was $21/p and I had a 10% coupon as well so it was less. One thing I loved were the stuffed clams. Amazing. However, I was only able to eat about 4 of them as the chef said they had run out. I didnt think about it at the time as I ate other food which was pretty decent but if I were to go back there it would be for the stuffed clams so if they can not guarantee a supply of them then I would never want to waste my money. Especially since they increased the prices to $23 per person now and they did not even include free drinks when I went. What kind of buffet is this?

MY wife and I noticed this new restaurant while driving down rte 9. We went in to try it out. Had a nice atmosphere. One thing we found strange most of the table servers were not oriental although they did provide good service. I found the sushi & Sashimi buffet very plentiful with a large variety of choices. All sushi I selected was very fresh and tasty. They also had the Miso and other verities of soup. There is also another area with the normal hot food fare including King Crab legs and Shrimp. We did not try the Hibachi portion so I will on comment on that. I could not disagree more with "dayinlos comments as my experience was just the opposite.

I went to tokyo today and it was absolutely horrible. It needs to be closed down for an unsanitary workplace. The manager doesnt seem to care. When i first went i tried the hibachi. Servers/cooks were decent. But i noticed this spot that started to move on the floor which then realized it was the biggest cockroach ive seen in my life. When my daughter came to eat at the buffet she told me she saw something that seemed to be a rat going into on if the doors. There are literally bugs hoovering over your food while you try to eat as well. The board of health really needs to re-evalaute this business. Seriously so disgusting. Never again!

My experience originally was with the Mays Landing location. And Ive always loved it! Great food, great prices, courteous staff, clean facility, BUFFET TAKEOUT!!! During my last trip down, I was crushed to see that the place appeared to be closed... Then I discovered this one in Freehold! I was so excited! Its even better than I remember. This location has even more options (new rolls Ive never seen and brown rice options) and the food tastes better than ever. I live 45 minutes away but you can bet Ill be making the drive! Five stars for sure!!

My major issue here was cross contamination. Shell fish and chicken using one tong. I did mention it to them and they did place a new tong out for the chicken and here is the but. Not long after I seen a different spot with chicken and shell fish using the same tong. I asked the employee for a new one for the chicken and she pointed to the shell fish tong. My son has a shell fish allergy. My suggestion would be keep shell fish in its own spot and teach yoir employees about cross contamination allergy. I will have to avoid this place..

Its a bit expensive, and their green tea is literally the box from costco (still terrific tea), but the food is amazing, always fresh, and the selection is ridiculous. At least a dozen varieties of sushi (many vegetarian), a dessert bar, a salad bad, a hot japanese food bar, hot chinese food bar, noodles and soups, dim sum, a grill, and ice cream. They have a team cranking out the sushi fresh in front of you and its all delicious (especially for the price point). Still cheaper and better than some non-buffet sushi places Ive been.
