A real shame. This overpriced, pseudo-Mexican eatery provided little enjoyment and nothing of edible pleasure. To begin, when we entered the building we were greeted with loud screams and the lack of ethnic integrity. The garish decor was about as real as the mountains of cheese placed on my burger that incidentally was about as thin as a piece of loose leaf paper. This burger was also placed on my table by a server who seemed as though she would rather have her fingernails pulled out with a wrench than serve us our mediocre meal. In fact, one of my friends left covered in chipotle sauce after the server slammed it on the table as if trying to win a hammer game at the carnival. After the meal I couldnt tell if I needed Tums for the fake, canned lobster I had just forced into my mouth or the agita inducing, screaming children. My fellow restaurant goers and I question the credentials of the chef who seemed to have just slapped together an Old-El-Paso taco kit. To top this all off we ended up paying a kings ransom for the whole unpleasant ordeal. If I were to salvage anything out of this experience it would be the texas-toothpicks and their portion size. However, on our way home we had to stop at CVS and buy Tums and toilet paper to prepare for the brown lava that were sure to come.

Well definitely pass on this place when were back in Avalon. Our large group ordered a variety of items and no one was impressed by the food other than the salsa (very good). I ordered a Chili Relleno, chicken enchilada and a beef tamale. The relleno was disgusting, simply a blob of cheese with no "chili". The tamale wasnt terrible, but not overwhelmingly great either. The chicken enchilada was a whole different story. The chicken inside was bar none the most terrible chicken I have ever tasted in my life. Ive never had chicken from a can before, but this is what I imagine it tasted like. Zero flavor, oddly dense, and very chewy. Two bites was all I could handle. There is nothing about it that made me think "this is chicken". Service was ok and the staff seemed friendly. All in all, for what it is definitely not worth the money and definitely not returning. The salsa is the only reason I am giving anything over one star..... and thats a stretch.

This is my favorite TexMex restaurant anywhere. I love the Crab filled enchiladas. The shrimp and scallop fajitas are great. The chips and salsa taste home made. I wish the salsa had a bit more bite to it, but that is being picky. With BYOB, the price is quite low, especially for the Jersey shore. In the fall of 2016, the second entree is half price, which makes it a steal.

I have always enjoyed dining here as the food is delicious, served quickly, and the portions are large. I dont really care as to how "authentic" the food is only that it makes a nice break from the seafood, steak, and pasta that you normally encounter. My only suggestion is to definitely try the fry bread!! I had never had it before I ate here.

Great summer food! We always get Tortilla Flats take-out when we are in Avalon. Its fairly reasonably-priced for the town. The Mexican food is simple, but yummy -- tacos, nachos, burritos, quesadillas, even burgers or chicken fingers for the kids. Recommend for an easy dinner.

What happens when you put an Ethnic restaurant in the "white bread & mayonnaise) capital of the southern jersey shore... Heard a lot of hype beforehand from my Tex/Mex aficionado friends. In the end it was typical Mexican. No better, no worse. And a bit pricey

I went with a group of 6 and no one was impressed with their food. Two were barely able to eat their meals. Certainly not authentic Mexican food and way overpriced for what theyre serving.

Had to try this place after seeing how busy it was all the time. The food is delicious, but definitely overpriced. I practically broke the bank on a dinner for 5.

Asked for more cilantro, was told by server that they were out of cilantro. Not a very inspiring thing to hear in a Mexican restaurant. Caveat emptor.

NOISY LOUD. DECENT FOOD. ALTHOUGH THERE ARE SOME SAUCES AND SUCH THAT ARE NOT MEXICAN. THE RED ENCHILADA SAUCE TREATED LIKE GRAVY. FAIR PRICE I guess.

Cheap and delicious. Lots of families with kids are normally here so if dont want to risk dealing with screaming babies try TF take out.
