My wife and I spend lots of time at North Beach, and eagerly anticipated North Beach bar and Grills opening. We would frequent the former 931 Ocean and enjoyed the sidewalk cafe atmosphere, which this new NBBG lacks, in its place is a sidewalk bar area which for anyone over 25 just isnt all that great. Outdoor seating is a must for the beach! We opted for a window table in the much expanded bar area, it was a somewhat cozy nook. Though it took someone a full 10 minutes to notice we were there, we gave them the benefit of the doubt as it was busy, and some people were standing near the bar enjoying their drinks. The atmosphere/decor is geared for the 20 something surfer, its certainly beachlike and bright, but not overdone. DRINKS: We were finally greeted and asked for our drink order. I had a Vodka Martini and my wife had a Margarita - both cocktails were excellent and exactly as ordered. Ice cold, well prepared and presented. The server allowed us to taste and make sure ! We could tell the wait staff was a bit nurvous as it was only day 3 or 4 since opening, our server was catious and asked all the right questions when taking our order. APPETIZERS: We started with a clam chowder and a simple shrimp cocktail - the chowder is likely on its way to some top shelf chowder bar - it was excellent, and being sort of a New England chowda snob - I dont use the word "excellent" too often. The potatos were cooked, it was piping hot, not too thick (its chowder, not paste) It was simply perfect. The shrimp Cocktail was oversized, very fresh, and they served us 4 knowing there were 2 of us sharing appetizers. (Bravo) MAIN COURSE: I opted for the pasta, which is sort of "build your own", select the type of pasta, the type of sauce, and what seafood you want in it. I went for the liguini with Alfredo sauce and combo Lobster and Scallops - It was very tasty - it didnt seem "mass produced" in any way, generous portion of Lobster. The alfredo was a tad thick, and appeared to be waiting for us to finish our appetizers for a short time in the kitchen, but overall very good, and very satisfying. My wife had the baked haddock, it was certainly fresh, very lightly seasoned and not swimming in a pool of butter - it was light, perfectly cooked, and tasted like haddock and not buttered breadcrumbs. Its safe to say that whoever the chef is, they seem awake and eager to have you return - the food was certainly expert and fresh. The lack of outdoor seating is a waste of great space and atmosphere, but overall, I give this place top marks for their first week.

I was introduced to Mel & John, they play every Wednesday. The customers group demand rock songs from the 60s - 80s era. But Mel sang beautifully with Adele - "Set Fire to the Rain" and Meghan Trainer - "Its All About The Bass". They both are amazing with acoustic, electric, and bass guitars. Larry was great with the harmonica. Not sure if he is a customer or part of the band?? Anyway, I love the Mel & John with rating 5/5. Space is small 3/5, Foods is good 4/5, Beverages is average 3/5. Well definitely come back. Hope to see more people dancing next time.

The only saving grace was the band and the view. Great location but horrible horrible service. The worst waitstaff Ive encountered in a long time. Food is a C. Mediocre/forgetable. Wont be around for long I hope. Someone who knows food and how to train staff needs to take over. Been twice, once after it opened and my last time ever not too long ago. Never again. Waste of $ and we just got aggravated by the abismal service.

Conveniently located next to Cinnamon Rainbow surfing rentals. Enjoy an hour surfing then treat yourself to comfort food next door. Seafood, burgers, craft beer, live music, and outdoor seating next to the beach. I had the Dude Burger and Smutynose IPA beer. My friends had the mollusks, clam chowder, and fish tacos. My friend that had cocktail was not impressed with mixed drink so I suggest choosing local craft beer.

Horible! 80 bucks for three people even after they took off the awful chicken ceaser salad so it was 80 bucks for 2 The service took way too long. They didnt serve our apps until the meal came. The chicken on my salad was inedible. My sons steaks tip were so rare they couldnt be chewed. Then they tried to charge us for side to an entree. We never reviewed a place negatively before but we just wanted to warn you guys.

Called to place a takeout order. Was told it would be 45 mins for two breakfast sandwiches. Then the hostess hung up on me. Called back and was asked to wait 5 mins - on hold - to place my order. Then she picked up the line again and asked me to call back and immediately hung up. Worst. Service. Ever. We live right around the corner so I will not be recommending this place to any of my neighbors.

I had the worst shrimp scampi ever!!! I made better than the chef there! My friend had pastrami sandwich and she said its awful... The waitress doesnt really talk to us and asked if we needed anything. In the end, she charged 22% tip without letting us know. We had 15 people, but I thought it should be 18% tip if the group is bigger than 6. But 22% is unbelievable, please stay away!!!

Save your money, people. Food and service didnt justify the sky high prices. Someone told me about a local pizza place and it was way better than what I ate here!!!!
