The newly re-opened Sun Tavern (as of May, 2010) is a wonderful and improved reincarnation of an old favorite. A few weeks after their recent re-opening, we were pleased to enjoy an experience that matched or exceeded our experiences from our previous favorite restaurant, 53 South in Norwell. We were able to secure a reservation for two on a Saturday evening, which can be difficult with some restaurants. Our starters were excellent: the clam chowder, my benchmark for restaurants, rates at the top of my favorites, and my wifes "small" barbecued shrimp should be promoted to an entree. I ordered a special Angus filet; my wife ordered a salmon entree from the regular menu. Both were excellently prepared, and accompanied by by well-matched and -executed sides. Our server, Charlene, struck the perfect balance of attentiveness, and demonstrated a confident familiarity with the menu and the wine list. We will be regulars. Disclosure: I happen to know the owner, but if I wasnt sincere about this review, I would have simply written nothing. It is simply great.

Went there this past weekend and was told we had to wait about an hour. We didnt have a reservation. Had a couple of drinks and in 40 minutes the hostess came and got us. We almost didnt go because the bar was so comfy.There were four of us in our party and each of us had a different dish. We started with the Duck Confit app which we shared and it was fantastic. We each had a salad I had the spinach salad and it was really delicious. the other folks in our party had a caesar and the wedge both great. Two of us had steaks and when I say the best I mean as good as Boston if not better. I asked opur waitress where they got there meat and she told us they get all of their meat from Kinnealy Meats. Another of our party had the Lamb Shank and the other had the Bourbon Salmon. All fantastic and done just right. Dessert brought us home made bread pudding and we all shared it which was truly homemade and delicious. Service was perfect she was there when we needed her but not overbearing. Will definately go back with some other friemds.

I havent stopped by since 2008 and as I remembered, this establishment is quite impressive. The setting is unique because of its age and charm, the atmosphere for a Saturday extremely festive and pleasant, our wait person was polite, professional and efficient and the faire and drink as expected, exquisitely top shelf. Had such an amazing dinner here. Food was incredible, service could not have been better. My only regret is that I live 10 minutes away and I havent tried it sooner. This was the best dinner Ive had since moving to MA in February and possibly one of the best Ive ever had. I cant say enough good things. Spend the money and splurge, you will be so happy you did. The place itself is also beautiful and rustic and so charming. I just simply cannot think of a nicer place to enjoy dinner.

We grew up when the Sun Tavern was The Fiddlers Green. Nowadays, this restaraunt has little resemblance to the ambiance of the original. My husband ordered the duck, and I ordered the swordfish. Both were overcooked and tough and the vegetables with them were overcooked and tasteless. We brought the leftovers home and could not face them the next day. We used a Groupon on a Saturday night and expected better. However, the service was terrific.

Yesterday my husband and I were married at The Sun Tavern. Deb was our server and she went over and beyond for our guests! We cannot thank Deb and the kitchen enough for making our day very special! I ate at the Sun Tavern last night, I had a Living Socials voucher. I was very pleased with the food, the service and the restaurant setting was lovely. I got the Salmon Oscar and my dining companion got the Sirloin, both were cooked perfectly. Since it was a birthday celebration we had dessert which was also delicious. I would definitely go back and would recommend to a friend.

We had a dinner party last night, our server Deb was great! The food was excellent, plus the friendly atmosphere from all the staff added to the overall experience! Plus after a little research The Sun Tavern is the only local restaurant that offered three different price points for a pre-selected dinner party! I think thats a bonus when planning a party! Great night!!

I have been going to Sun Tavern for years. Its my go-to place after a hard days work, for a special occasion, or when I just want to treat myself to good service, good food, good cocktails and good atmosphere. Its wonderfully cozy in the winter and the deck is a treat on a nice summer day. Id rate it a 10 if I could.

The Sun Tavern is one of the greatest restaurants Ive ever been to. The food there is excellent. It is a historical building, and the paintings and decorations fit right in. The service there is great, and will keep me coming back for more.
