We went for dinner and ordered the Ceviche, a medium Guacamole and a single Crab Enchilada, the food was excellent, the service was also excellent, quick and friendly, we had no waiting for a table at 6pm. on a Tuesday. We started out with the housemade chips and salsa, which was unexpectedly tasty and different from most Mexican restaurants! We even ordered Chardonnay (I know, strange while eating Mexican food!) but, it was good and a very generous pour for only $3.50! Overall, the prices are very reasonable and we will definitely return. I dont think reservations are necessary and this would be a great place for family and groups.

If you happen to be in the Nebraska City, NE area and like Mexican food then this is a must! The food is excellent! Had a carne asada burrito and it was the best I had eaten in a very long time! I would definitely go back here for dinner! Only slight problem was the salsa was a bit too "watery" for me. I asked for a side of pico de gallo & mixed it with the salsa and the results were amazing! You wont be disappointed here! Stop by & give this place a try!

El Portal is hands down the best mexican food the midwest has to offer. The prices are great, the food is even better, and the margaritas (only $1.99 on Wednesdays!) are out of this world. When you stop in, do yourself a favor and get a chimi banana for dessert. Looking for an even better deal? Stop in for lunch Monday through Friday (11 to 3 I think). Prices are even lower. Best fajitas youll ever have for only $7!
