My friends have been raving about this place since I got off the plane. Needless to say, I was super excited to try it. The time came when we arrived on a Friday night around 7:30pm. The wait was about 45 minutes, which wasnt a big deal since there were couple of open seats at the bar and sports on tv to entertain. The service all around from getting a buzzer for seating to our waiter being super awesome, I give thumbs up for service. Finally, we were seated and let the eating begin! We started with chicken wings. Then one friend ordered beef/bacon/onion ring sandwich. My other friend and I shared a full order of beef ribs with 3 sides (potato salad, cheesy corn, and baked beans.) Perhaps our eyes were bigger than our stomach because the full order of the ribs were barely touched after 2 each. The flavors were really deep into the meat and the sides were super tasty especially the cheesy corn, there were even ham/bacon bits mixed in, and the baked beans went really well with the meat. Not to mention the original and spicy sauces to go with everything. Everything tasted fabulous going down, but a little over an hour later, my stomach wasnt too happy. In fact, the rest of the night and the next morning, I spent most of my time in the bathroom. One of my friends also had to release in the restroom, but her situation wasnt as bad as mine. The other friend had no problems. I dont know what the culprit could be since I was fine the whole day, but maybe I over ate or my stomach wasnt use to this type of food. Either way, I cant say that Ill be having bbq ribs any time soon.

Just plain good should be Jack Stacks motto. That or "This the only place Chuck Norris asks for seconds". Either way, this place never gets old! You can get everything from a legit steak to some excellent rib and rack of lamb dinners to the classic take out dream - The Poor Russ! Our favorite way to dine is to grab a sandwich and some sides and head out to the fountains in the Plaza for some deliciousness whilst enjoying the surroundings. The Poor Russ and burnt ends here are simply stated - Amazing. With sides of cheesy corn (the kind they serve in heaven) and slaw, you cant go wrong. For those dining in, you gotta try the sampler - We recommend the Jacks Best for your eating pleasure. You sample the best theyve got, get some sauce on your bid and leave a happy dude or dudette! Jack stack is the classiest of the local BBQ establishments and worth waiting for if youve got the time. Incredible service to go with incredible food, this is where we go when were coming in from out of town and need to get our BBQ fix!

I was recommended to Jack Stacks by Kansas City chief football player Ron Parker #38. OMG the food at this place is AMAZING!!!! I went with two co-workers while on a business trip. We wanted the jalapeno cornbread, our servant Ryan told us they were out. One of my co-workers got on the phone to call the Jack Stacks freight house location ( another amazing restaurant) to see if they had the cornbread. Ryan went and told the manager Nick about the situation. He came to our table and tried to accommodate us but we really wanted the cornbread didnt know the next time we would be back in Kansas City. Nick drove to the freight house location to purchase us some cornbread. I could not believe he did that. Nick went above and beyond the call of duty for us. I want the world to know about Nick I have NEVER experienced a manager that went to that length to ensure I was satisfied. Manager Nick and Waiter Ryan you two made a Army retiree feel like someone real special. Thank you for your service to the Kansas City community.

The food was awesome and the service from order to table was amazingly fast. The personality of the waitress was great and they pay attention to patrons once they are at the table. However, we were promised a 25 minute wait and given a timer. 45 minutes in and three of our party could no longer wait so they left making our party shorter by three should mean a quicker seat time right? Wrong. Two more parties bigger than ours came in. One was seated within the same minute they walked in. The other party was 2 people more than us, never given a timer and called before us. We instantly complained and were promptly seated. After the meal the manager we spoke with said she wished someone would have told her sooner. Im pretty sure she should have noticed if she would have been observing. All this said they did give a hefty gift card for the inconvenience. Unfortunately all the good does not erase the bad.

Waaay OverPriced. Agreed; What KC BBQ place has white tablecloth napkins?!?? In the past few weeks, Ive eaten at several places and, for the price of splitting a burnt ends plate+fries+broccoli(extra $$) and Water @JackStackBBQ with my wife, I could have fed my whole 4-person family. <--this says somn. Service was the best part [I wish these waiters/waitresses would relocate! *dreamer*]. Others in our party actually did not recommend several signature pieces of meat after trying them (e.g. Prime Rib, the large Brick rib looking thing). My wife liked the burnt ends elsewhere. Jack Stack apparently thinks you need less food, more quality* (?!?), and to pay Way More than at Gates, Smokin Guns, or Oklahoma Joes. I gladly leave the place for all the snobs at the Plaza that have never fired up the grill and cooked BBQ worthy of a tailgate-!! [you can find me at the non-Country Club for bbq]

This place was really busy and had a 40 min wait, but the bar had an open stool. The food came out extremely quick and the bar staff was attentive enough. I purchased the sampler, which was sausage, burnt ends, pork ribs, and chicken with beans. The pork ribs were really underwhelming and had a lot if gristle. The burnt ends were ok, but not particularly flavorful. The chicken was smokey, yet tangy and juicy. It was the best meat I had. The beans were probably the best part, almost a chili honestly. They were made with the barbecue sauce and had meat in them. The sausage was just a polish, which was good but nothing to celebrate. I felt that the smoke flavor in the meats was overpowering, especially in the pork. I wont be getting ribs again, I will probably go for a sandwich or try the cheesy corn back if I make it back here again.

This was my first time with Jack Stack BBQ......I was disappointed. I used carryout so can not comment on service. As a KCBS master judge for the past 14 years with over 80 contests I feel qualified to judge BBQ. I ordered the full slab and also the burnt ends. Neither measured up. They did not even remove the membrane on the ribs, a classic failure. The outer 1/8 inch was dry and stringy, impossible to cut cleanly. The taste was good but had little smoke flavor. They do have a good sauce. At $22.00 per slab, definitely overpriced. The burnt ends varied from good, moist and tender to dry and tough. I also bought an order of onion rings and they were awesome, probably the best Ive ever had....At $1.50 per onion ring (6 for $9.00) they ought to be awesome.
