To start off, it took 20 minutes for our waitress to bring us water and 30 minutes for her to come and take our order. Our waitress was supposedly one of the cooks as well. My first friend ordered the fried tacos; when he asked for the fried tacos there was supposed to be 4; he ended up getting 3 regular soft tacos instead. The waitress stated that it would take longer to complete the correct order and hed have to wait for them to cook everyone elses order first before cooking the correct order. Because of the wait, he decided to just keep the incorrect order; he only got 50 cents off. My second friend with us is a vegan and wanted his dish to be without cheese. He specifically asked for no cheese and his rice and beans came with cheese. Also, he and I each ordered a side of guacomolé. After she repeated to us that there was going to be two sides of guacamolé, she only gave me mine. My friend asked for his guacamolé and she then stated that "there is no more" and walked away. Furthermore, she only refilled our water once throughout the whole dinner until I asked her to bring us a pitcher of water. I specifically asked for her to leave the pitcher of water at our table because she only came to our table when I would get up and get her attention and who knows how long it would take her for another water refill. She finally came over, filled our cups, and did not leave the water pitcher. Lastly, as we were finishing dinner, we slowly discovered that every other table had chips and salsa prior to their meals. I asked a table if their chips were complimentary and they said yes. Our table was not served complimentary chips and salsa. I ordered the enchiladas and they were very flavorful and good. Because of the horrific customer service, I will give this restaurant a 2 out of 5. None of us are planning on returning.

I too am from san diego and was skeptical about the Mexican joints here in Minnesota. I miss my taco shops from back home because the price is reasonable, even though its been on the rise last 10-15yrs. This place should have taco shop prices, not restaurant prices since it looks the part. And for being a "restaurant", they should serve beer. The carne asada taco combo plate with rice and beans is $10.95. The carne asada was very favorable, tortillas well made, chips and salsa ok. Would be nice to have more of a selection on salsa instead of a red and green "hot sauce" Overall, a good experience despite the Minnesota Mexican food price. Im sure i will be back sometime soon to explore other items on the menu.

Went there about 4 times to sit it with my girlfriend. We both speak Spanish and I grew up in a Mexican family. So I order more than just tacos and the basics. I asked all 4 times for a Torta Cubana, but they never had the bread. Also This place is a bit overpriced for the food. Average food, very bad sit in experience it seems as if the front end of the house is neglected. However even though I am a bit tougher on Mexican food than the rest I still rate it three stars because the Owner is so good at hosting in Spanish I dont think she speaks much English. I gave this place a chance 4 times and all 4 times it was sub-par. Why stop here when there is another Mexican place down the street now.

Its easy to walk by without even noticing this place, but Im glad I found it, and Ill definitely be back! Huge menu and lots of options. Some people have mentioned it is overpriced, but I had a $13.xx plate of enchiladas that was enough for two meals so I would say its a good value. Really kind and helpful staff, when my friend wasnt sure about the verde sauce, she brought some out to our table with some chips so she could try it before ordering. When I visited on a weeknight, the place was steady but not super busy, and we still got our food quickly after ordering. Reheated leftovers taste almost as good the next day!

Not fancy; no frills; just great, authentic Mexican food. Do yourself a favor and skip the burrito and the quesadilla (you already know what those taste like). Yes, theyre delicious here, but try the enmoladas (the mole is well-balanced and complex, not the chocolate bomb you get at other places), the tacos al pastor, the menudo, or even a torta. You wont be disappointed. Service is friendly and thorough, and youre not going to get a better bang for your buck. Food takes a little while to get to the table (everything is made from scratch), but the complimentary chips and homemade salsa make the minutes fly by.

Way over priced, mediocre food. I ordered something on the menu that was breakfasty and they didnt have all the ingredients. the guy said he would make huevos rancheros instead. I got the food to go and when I got home and opened the box it was 2 fried eggs on two corn tortillas. no beans, no rice, no salsa, nothing. I couldnt believe it because they charged me 10 bucks and got a big tip too. also I was the only one there and it took like 20 min to make 2 fried eggs. confused and disapointed :/ Im going to try again in good faith though because the are a family owned joint!

I love Mexico and eating here is as close as one will get to eating fabulous Mexican food w/o leaving town. Its a mom and pop joint, no frills, very hard working couple living the dream. Ive been there twice and cant wait to return. The menu is more expansive than any other Mexican restaurant in town. If you love Mexicano cuisine you will not be disappointed. Its true that if you want every thing to be perfect always, you could be disappointed. If youve been to Mexico youll know the world doesnt work that way. Go to Homi! Its a a hidden gem, waiting to be discovered.

Prices are high and the food was not all that great. The meat was dry and lacked flavor. I pulled a chicken bone out of my burrito which can happen I suppose if they shred their own meats. That being said it was not fun to find with my teeth. The best meal of the three we got was my kids quesadilla. Kind of bummed it was not good since everyone is touting this restaurant as being one of Minnesotas top Mexican places. I suggest skip it go to la cuca rachas or Boca Chica.

Homi is a true gem in Minneapolis-Saint Paul. Recommended to me by a professor, Homi has the best Mexican food in Saint Paul. This family-owned restaurant offers plenty of authentic menu items at very affordable prices - i.e. a 14inch burrito for under $10. When friends ask me where to go to eat in Saint Paul, Homi is always one of the top places I recommend they go. After their first visit, I often hear about them going back for more, bringing more friends along.

Watch out for the charges. I was way over charged. Food was excellent. Service was horrible. Charged 18 for 3 tacos w/rice & beans? When I asked about this she said the menu prices changed. I asked for a correct menu. She flipped through many and found one with stickers covering the old prices. Really?! Updated menu still not the price she charged. We went back and forth then she asked if I ordered guacamole. No I didnt. Very sheisty experience and rude service.
