So THIS is Midwestern Chinese food? I hope not. To be fair, I did work very close to Chinatown in NYC for several years and I did not expect to get THAT quality here. But the buffet I just ‘endured’ was possibly the worst lunch I have had in several years. There was no ‘ace in hole’ at the smallish buffet table. I thought it would be the chicken legs. I had to think again. They were tasteless (can you put a BIT of salt in the breading, please?). They were bunched with what appeared to be small egg rolls cut in half. Those were ghastly in taste. Also in that ‘bin’ was a long fried noodle/dumpling with SOUR CREAM in them. Oh yuck. No pork or beef lo mein (but how would they have tasted anyway?) just an item they call vegetable lo mein. Tiny thin spaghetti with a few broccoli trees. These folks are not going all-out on expenses, that’s for sure. The only thing that wasn’t awful was the chicken soup but for a Chinese restaurant shouldn’t that be wonton? My hard-earned money will be spent elsewhere after this experience. $8.95- even in 2015- should at least provide some taste. I actually grabbed an Arbys’ sandwich afterward because I left there still hungry.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE RED MOON!! The food is absolutely delicious. I recommended this restaurant to my sister and nephew and they didnt like it at all but Ive taken about 15 different people here for lunch and everyone else agreed its delicious so my sister is probably crazy haha. Im a repeat customer. Love their wontons & noodles. Love their chow mein. Good, tasty, stuff. Try it!! I cant comprehend how someone could dislike the food here. The waitresses are nice as well. They always come and talk to my mom and I and we have friendly chats. The chef is an elderly Chinese guy who can be kind of grumpy if you put too much in your takeout box but other than that even hes come and talked to us and asked how we enjoyed the food. I love Red Moon. Im moving out of state soon and will surely miss this spot!

I had passed this place by often since moving to the area and I wish I had left it at that. Visited on a saturday evening for the buffet and left partially disappointed and partially disgusted. Despite arriving well before either the restaurant or buffet closed (according to their website, which is 8:30 pm), the buffet table was half empty and was never refilled during our stay. The only item that was refilled were a spicy fried shrimp, which to my disgust I came to find out when i bit into one and started eating it, that NONE of them had been peeled before frying (the batter having covered the shells). My first experience is certainly going to be my last, which is unfortunate given the one food i managed to get any of (mongolian beef) was actually quite good despite the lack of it.

You would think with a small selection they would Rock out a couple really good dishes. Food was bland, cold (the rice was crunchy), and the staff dumped the new stuff in with the old. I came at 1pm, but still nothing was fresh. The reason I gave one star was because the staff was friendly and helpful (although they didnt know how to maintain the buffet properly). The Great Mandarin is just next door in the mall and offers a superior product for a similar price. I feel like the owners were going to open a real cafe, but halfway through decided to do Chinese food. Its always a sad day when even Chinese food doesnt cheer me up.

I really like the Red Moon Buffet - cant get there anymore for lunch buffet so I decided on a Friday night I would go and get buffet takeout. Checked online and it said restaurant open until 10 and buffet open until 8:30. Got there at 7:30 and the buffet was just about cleaned out. The lady at the front said it was because they werent very busy that night. My response was not my problem, that I had checked the website specifically before I left home to make sure the buffet would still be available and was glad it would be. Told her that it was false advertising.

This is one of those places with really great service that serves nice, comforting American-style Chinese cuisine with a smile and casual conversation. Their buffet is certainly not one of those "Mega Buffets" but serves chicken chow mein, egg foo young, a couple soups, both white and fried rice, appetizers such as wings (really perfectly crispy) and egg rolls, and 4-6 entrees to choose from. Ive been going here for years when I can get out of the office on my lunch break.

I really liked Red Moon. I recently moved to the area and was looking for a nice family owned chinese restaurant (those are the best). While I was waiting, the server who took my order was very polite and welcoming. I really liked the place because it provides a lot of healthy options as well (Less salt, less oil, etc.). The food was full of flavor and did not taste processed at all. I will definitely be going back soon!

Food and service are always consistently good. I have never had never a bad experience. Their hot & sour soup is my favorite of any place EVER! They dont offer a huge amount of options on the buffet, but I believe this is so they can provide better quality food. Also their menu is huge and you can always order off the menu. We do takeout from here monthly as well and hitting the buffet.

Ive gone to Red Moon Chinese Cafe many times for their lunch buffet. The food was okay, but they often struggled to keep their buffet stocked with key items (meats!) The chef would periodically bring out some food for the buffet, but it disappeared quickly. The price was a bit high for the limited buffet choices so I eventually gave up on this place.

Lets be honest. Chinese food chains are not really "good" but all more or less the same. This particular joint is the worst one Ive been to. The lunch buffet was half gone and stayed that way. The chicken had soaked in the sauce so long that you could push a fork down on it and the whole thing essentially turned to breading and chicken fat. Nasty.

This restaurant is AWFUL. Ordered take-out, only to bring it home and throw immediately into the trash! Chicken was way overcooked, beef was slimy and processed. Horrible. I called to speak to the "owner" who wouldnt give me her name, and would not issue my family a refund. Dont waste your money here!

The food here is AWESOME! Fresh, hot, flavorful, full of fresh vegetables (if you like it that way, which I do), and full of tender, delicious, meats (if you like it that way, which my husband does). The food is not overly greasy or oily either. We've never been disappointed by Red Moon! Yum!

Horrible service. I waited for 15 mins while my food was sitting in the counter. No one came to help me pay. The cheese puffs were stale. Called the owner who laughed and yelled at me. Telling me I was wrong. Good food but such horrible service and management.

This is my favorite takeout place! Amazing food every time; my family and I are always craving it. Its a surprise to me to see any negative reviews, considering how frequent a customer I am--a happy one. However, I have never had the buffet.
