Its really nice to have a cup of coffee you know is fresh, At Arcadia Cafe in Ames they grind the beans fresh for each cup of coffee. You can select the beans which are your personal favorite or try something new each time you visit. Arcadia roasts their own premium beans, all of this is done in-house with a Diedrich Coffee Roaster. The espresso is excellent, and the Lattes are superb! Most people drink their coffee with milk or cream, you really taste quality when you can drink it black with no sugar, you get the full flavor of the beans and can taste the skill of the roaster, quality of the bean and the real difference in each brew. Arcadia in-ports raw beans for in house roasting to insure the best quality. I have tried several different brews, Ethiopia, Brasil, and the house breakfast brand which is a mixture to provide a memorable experience. Liz, the owner and Head Chief and Dessert Pastry Chief bakes everything on the menu fresh each day. I usually have a fresh Cranberry Scone! Cakes are a real specialty item that this Pastry Chief excels in. Each day brings new items with an excellent pallet, flavors and quality. If you cant chose just one get some to go. They serve breakfast, lunch and DESSERT! I recommend a visit and savor quality coffee and a fantastic slice of cake.

Arcadia is a nice addition to growing number of independent cafés in Ames. What sets them apart initially is the interior. Instead of catalog café tables theyve opted to make their own out of cross sections of reclaimed wood. Each one is unique, with its own shape, ring pattern, and flaws. Though theyre a bit small, theyre perfect for when you need to focus. For more social gatherings they have a beautiful teak table in the front. For coffee they have all the regular things but theyve also thrown in with the single origin coffee trend and will brew a cup fresh for you using pour-over funnels. Whats also notable is the fact that they roast their own coffee (you can see the roaster in the shop) and its a lot of fun exploring all the varieties they have. If youre hungry youll find some of the best desserts in town. They have brownies, cookies, and cheesecake, but they also offer more exotic faire such as scones, tortes, bread pudding, and some other things Ive frankly never heard of. Overall its had a strong start, and it seems its only getting better. Also, they apparently have a drive thru now.

I always go pass by this cafe and be impressed by the unique furnishings. On this sunshine morning with happy and fresh mood, I decided to try this restaurant and hope it as a good start of the week. The glass cup is brand new which satisfied me at first, and I can totally understand few mosquito bugs flying around because of the big opening door. I also like the design of the menu, but there a very limited food choice on it. After thinking for a while. We decided to try Korean barbecue and Lemon pasta, and we didnt wait too long time for the dish. Thats good. I tried the lemon pasta at first and I cannot accept it, it not in my taste type, I didnt eat it after my first bit, my girl friend also dislike it at all. The Korean barbecue looks soooo over cooked. I feel so bad such the two dishes would cost me 20 dollars without tax, and I was so hungry at that time. We told the fact to the server and she responded in a indifferent way "Do you need I take away the food? ", Last, I dont recommend you to here to have a formal lunch or dinner, but if you are not too hungry and just want a coffee or tea, its ok.

the outside, but their drinks are awesome. The single-origin pour-over coffee is worth the wait—every cup is brewed fresh. I think the Ethiopia is my favorite. The espresso and lattes are so good. Way way better than anything else Ive tried at certain other coffee shops. *cough* Starbucks *cough* Usually its a quiet little place—great for studying! And they have wifi. Sometimes theres a crowd when a group comes in together, but I always find a little corner to tuck myself in to. And they have lots of treats, and sometimes free samples. The breakfast baguette is pretty good, and they make each one individually, so you know it hasnt been sitting around forever. The scones are perfect, and every other thing Ive tried was also amazing. Sometimes Ill get dinner elsewhere but swing by Arcadia for dessert. Its all much better and less expensive as the desserts in a restaurant. Usually they have a gluten-free or vegan item, too!

The Raspberry Almond bar is ridiculously great, and my mango smoothie was impressive as well. The menu roasted with the seasons so ask the staff for suggestions. Fantastic scones, never had one I liked until now and couldnt believe it was gluten free. Pour over coffee done right, if youve never had it before you owe it to yourself to try it. Ive had the cold brew, which is great too but I really like the single origin Ethiopian black, and normally I take everything english regular (cream and 2 sugars). Hard to believe theres a place like this in Iowa, world class deserts, best coffee around for hundreds of miles. They cater too and can make things to order if you call a week ahead.

Full support on this Cafe/Bar/Bakery/Coffeehouse mash-up that I went to for the first time yesterday. I was so thoroughly impressed with the atmosphere, food, and wait staff that I already have plans to go back 4 times in the next week. Its that good. Mind boggling good. Im glad I took my friends recommendation to go! Where could you expect such a delightful venue to be? In the most convenient placement possible, right on Welch off of Lincoln in Campustown. Its amazing, why is life this good? I say: Fuzzys and Blaze, eat your heart out.

Single origin sourced, in house roasted coffee that is actually the best in town. The baristas are well trained on how to make a great cup of coffee. The ONLY place in town to get homemade, unique pastries that arent from a box. Bagels and baguettes are homemade as well, you wont regret a breakfast or lunch sandwich on a baguette or bagel! New outfit looks great, and it seems they are learning how to operate a bigger system-- given a little bit of time I know they will be whipped into shape and working like a well oiled machine!

Great coffee, friendly staff, nice facility. Its a little confusing at first if its a dine in or coffee place, but the staff is kind enough to help you figure it out. Arcadia seems to be overstaffed, which causes some confusion. Additionally, it seemed only one or two baristas knew how to operate the iPad ordering system, so that took a while. Finally, Wi-Fi is free for customers, but you only get a one hour voucher with one purchase.

A great coffee & snack shop, best in Ames IMHO. They also make the BEST CAKE! Seriously order a custom tiramisu from them for a party (expensive, but so worth it). Also, the simple egg, cheese, sausage sandwich is not bad. But I think they take the most pride in the coffee, which they work really hard to make exceptional.
