Food was delicious!...However, I cant ever imagine being an employee there. Whom ever the lady in charge was (on Sunday Dec. 6 @ 3:00p) was being bossy, demanding, and rude to her employees. The entire atmosphere was controlled by her shortness and poor attitude. It made me uncomfortable as a customer. Secondly, being that it was my first time I had no idea what I was doing. Instead of walking me through it or explaining what they offer , etc. This same lady acted as of she had no time for me. I felt pressure to make a decision quickly and she acted annoyed. Again, not impressed with this one individual, but the food was great.

The atmosphere is nice. The employee at the register very kind. Unfortunately, thats where the compliments end....I ordered the Alfredo with Shrimp, minus the shrimp, and it tasted like a frozen store bought bag they just threw in the microwave. The bread on the side was nothing to write home about. And their molasses cookie had way too much frosting on it. Definitely disappointing when that totals at over $12. This is my second time here and the first time i got a panini which tasted alright but it was small, making it overpriced.

Working close by I frequent Main Street Cafe & Bakery. After multiple visits some of the staff, and the owner, John, have come to know me by name. I believe it says a lot about an establishment when people care enough to remember who you are. It is also nice to see the owners constantly working on the front lines, interacting with both employees as well as customers. I have never had a bad experience or a bad dish at Main Street. I highly recommend people check it out! If you dont know what to get I recommend the Tomato Bisque!

was very very disappointed, staff very , very nice but food was terrible. we have never said anything negative on a website before but this was really bad. We thought about calling to complain but did not think it would make a difference. We had got several different meals and everything we got was just blah..yuck. I felt like my 9 years old could have made it better . I really hate to complain but this is not worth all the money we spent. I had 3 other people tell me the same thing after the fact.

There was water in the bottom of our salad bowls, because the lettuce wasnt spun properly. The dressing was bland, and even though gorganzola was in the name there was very little. My French onion soup was very forgetable. There was almost no cheese on it, instead of the baked on cheese "cap" I love and I believe is pictured on the soup menu. The chicken in my wifes salad was dry and bland and she felt the tomato soup tasted canned. We were disappointed as we had high hopes.

Great food, great service! Ive been to this restaurant twice, both with groups of 8. The staff set up tables for us right when we got in, we quickly ordered food and we were able to get our finish our lunch and make it back to the office in 1 hour. AND the food is delicious and has a wide variety of options. Ive been to a lot of other restaurants in Ankeny for lunch, and sorely disappointed with the quality of service. This is my new go to restaurant in Ankeny!

Stopped by last night for take-out. The kid working the register was incredibly helpful and friendly. But the woman managing (at least I assume she was the manager) was so rude to the employees! It was uncomfortable and I was embarrassed for the poor highschool kids working! It is a shame, because the food was so yummy, but I wouldnt want to support that type of business environment! Reading through the other reviews it seems like this an unfortunate trend...

We ordered 2 cakes, a fruit and cheese tray and a pasta salad for a family birthday party - we wert so, so pleased, this made entertaining a cinch. The pasta salad was way above the norm and the fuit/cheese tray was fresh and had great cheese selections. Although the chocolate lovers loved the peanut butter cup cake, the coconut cake took the night - rave reviews - everyone was so impressed with how moist and favorable it was! Thanks MSCB!

I had such a great experience working with Main Street Cafe & Bakery! I had a very large order of caramel apples and they made sure we were able to get exactly what we wanted and they even delivered (And showed up early)! The apples were amazing and all came individually wrapped with the six different toppings of our choice. I would definitely recommend this business and look forward to working with them again in the future!

Main street is really just a knockoff panera and the owner John is completely disrespectful to both costumers and employees. Ive seen him go as far as yelling at an employee for trying to get his attention for a customer who had asked to see him, in front of the customer. He constantly degrades his staff through his yelling and intimidation. I would never want to go to a restaurant that treats their staff the way he does.

Had a great breakfast there today. It was really busy with a bridal party starting there day here but service and food was still fresh and fast. We found the price to be excellent as well as the food. Our two children were also very happy with the food and portion size for the price. Main Street Cafe and Bakery now has a permeate home on our breakfast locations. Cant wait to go back and try lunch as well.

Whether I am in a rush and need to go food or have time to sit and relax. This is my one stop place. It is very friendly, great service, fast service, great overall environment. I have celiac disease and they have great gluten free options and desserts! Super yummy. Reasonably priced. Im a regular here and I love it. With the location close to school it makes for easy lunch on the go!

Absolutely a great place for breakfast. I got the Fiesta Chili Scramble it was fantastic, it has chorizo, red and green peppers, jalapenos, and green onions topped with a citrus chili sauce and sour cream. My wife had the cinnamon roll french toast and the kids had a cinnamon and the Smores french toast. ALL of left full and satisfied. We will definitely be coming back.

Every single time we get awesome customer service no matter the time of day. Great breakfast, flatbreads and sandwiches- ok everything is awesome. Fresh ingredients cooked perfectly with a unique touch! Try their pastries, especially the Carmelito bar- so tasty. Thank you for bringing this to ankeny & keep up the good work!

A wonderful place to eat a meal or just a grab a dessert or cup of coffee. A large variety of drinks, food or desserts to pick from and an equally large amount of seating options to choose from. The interior is nicely decorated using a variety of materials. It’s a bit pricey but the food is tasty and portions are filling

Very nice on the phone and the delivery girl was very nice too. We ordered 4 different meals and soups. Everything tasted like it came from the freezer at Walmart. The whole order was a waste of $50, everything went in the garbage. Thats the 1st and last time we order here.
