When other customers are more helpful than the staff, thats a problem. I came here to use the coinstar machine for some old change I had laying around. On the coinstar receipt, it states that ANY cashier in Meijer can cash the receipt. I head to the cashier in the electronics department first after seeing the RIDICULOUSLY long lines (most of the cash register lanes were closed....maybe if they hired enough cashiers, people wouldnt be forced to wait in lines that wrap around the store) and the guy tells me I have to go up front to cash it. The lady running the self checkout, which also had a very long line, told me quite rudely that she "doesnt do that stuff." And then she told me I had to wait in line. I asked if she thought that made sense given that I had nothing to purchase, just needed to cash my receipt, and she walked away. Nice. I found a regular lane that had just two ladies waiting both with very full carts, and I decided thatd be shorter than the 40 people with smaller carts in the self checkout. Thankfully, the two ladies noticed I only had my receipt and they very kindly let me go ahead of them. You suck, Meijer....but dont worry! Pretty soon Amazon will completely run you out of business :)

I found the store in Northville MI (20401 Haggerty Rd) in total disarray. The store is dirty, disorganized and constantly out-of-stock; there are too many empty spaces on the shelves; The quality of their fruits and vegetables is very, very poor; No surprise in such a poorly kept store, the bathroom was filthy and in serious need of management’s attention; to me this shows the disregard management has for customers and employees. What happened to its standards? Meijer always prided itself on neatness, cleanliness, full assortments and quality of their merchandise. To me, this store is a weak operation. Yes, customers do notice, and so do competitors, in the dog-eat-dog world of discount retailing. Over the long run, if Meijer wants to remain a discount store leader with low prices and continue to serve customers with dignity and respect, it must pay attention to the appearance of the store, the genuine value of the merchandise it sells, and show appreciation for every customer. My recent visit to this store was an insult

The customer service at the Photo Department was very unprofessional. The photo tech Jayne offered help, I did not need assistance. She insisted on holding my phone, started clicking through my phone to connect it to the computer, I was very uncomfortable with her going through my phone without my permission... Was told my non professional pictures could not be picked up until I had a photographers release form. They were nice pictures but had no company logo on them, therefore not sure why I was being harassed for wanting to buy them. After an hour of waiting for pictures to be printed and being told I could not take my pictures I was informed to sign a release form! The manager of the store seemed clueless with being able to handle this situation. From now on I will just go back to CVS for future photo needs!

Seriously I have had consistent problems with staff here. One lady accused me of not having permission to print pictures I took with my own camera on my phone and refused to allow me to print them. Another customer service rep told me if I wanted to return something for an exchange I had to have a sales slip even tho I explained I had purchased it on my mperks account and with a credit card. I used to work for meijer I know they can look it up with the mperks OR the credit card this person just didnt want to do their job. Another time I was having an issue at checkout and asked for help and the clerk working uscan looked me dead in the face and said "Ill get to you in a minute" then continued to talk to another clerk who was on break.

I do a lot of shopping at this Meijer and have for many years. It is clean, well-stocked and has lots of items, everything including groceries, fresh produce, a good deli, and most household items that I could even need. On top of the great selection, the prices are always low and reasonable. And I love that its open 24 hours, so its super convenient. I give Meijer 5 stars for that. Unfortunately, this location loses stars due to the long and slow checkout lines. There are always too few cash registers open, and, as a result, the lines are often very, very long. Its a terribly slow and tedious process to check out and pay. If Meijer would open a few extra registers, it would be the perfect shopping experience.

Variety of items is plentiful, but some can be pricey. Not at the same low price level as walmart. Probably more comparable to a target, price-wise. Self check out was used and a bag was forgotten... when we went back to get it we had to wait for three customer service reps to finish a personal conversation before they would help us. We bought a hoodie and realized when we got home that the security tag was still on it. But, no alarms went off when we left. So that was another wasted trip back. And the lines were terribly long for the check-outs. More attention to detail and better customer service could have been used to make the shopping/return experience better.

The checkout is the worst managed I have ever experienced in a grocery store in the past 35 years. I can go down the street to a competing grocery store and easily have half the wait for checkout. Horribly managed front end. Prices are excellent and shelves are stocked very well. Store is usually clean. Just tried running in for 1 thing....forget it! Sticking with target across the street and kroger instead. Update...3 weeks later...stopped in because it was on my way home. Zero carts on the corral on the grocery side of the store. Lines at checkout as usual. Store is a a mess....even looking past the remodel. And this is at 9pm. Hire a new manager!!!

The produce department was fantastic along with the bakery department. The store was clean even though it was undergoing renovation. I was able to find everything I wanted. The worst thing about the store was the cashier she didnt smile she didnt say good morning she didnt say hello she didnt say anything she bagged everything but did not put it into my cart I had to do that myself and then she had left my bananas in an area where I didnt even see them I just happened to take a double look and there they were. I wasnt too happy with her

Managers Duane and Robert were exceptionally helpful during our last visit. My wife and I purchased a great grill at an awesome price. While they helped us retrieve the grill, check it out and then load it into our vehicle, we could not have made it any more difficult for them... But they were exceptionally helpful and never said a bad thing to us or about the unintended obstacles we presented. All of our experiences with this Meijer have been excellent and we highly recommend this location to everyone!

What is it with this place? 33 registers and i swear every time I come in, theres MAYBE two lanes open outside of the DIY lanes. Last week, there was one lane open, and when the cashier shut off her light there was literally no lane open. It was only 8pm, like now. If these stores are worried about price margins hurting their business, this service is going to turn that into a self-fulfilling experience. I feel bad for the employees. Big corporations are killing the consumer and employees.
