We went in today (Saturday, 12/31/11) around 11 a.m. The cafe was full, except for one table. This is a small town cafe that is apparently well-liked by locals. Tables are no-frills and there is a counter with stools in the back. The four of us ordered breakfast; omelets, biscuits and gravy, and a pancake with link sausage. We are breakfast junkies and everything served was above average in quality and quantity. The pancake almost overlapped the dinner plate and was about 1" thick, very good. The omelets were unusually fluffy and well-prepared. One was a no-yolks omelet, very fluffy. I had the biscuits and gravy and a side on hash browns, it was very good and the biscuits were large and obviously made there, that morning. Our bill was $30.46, including drinks and tax and the two of us that ordered omelets took half of their order home. There appeared to be only two waitresses and they somehow took care of business quite well. I wish I had remembered the waitress that served us, she really earned the 20%. The food wasnt served in a flash, but the place was packed and our coffee never went cold. Free parking is available on the street and in a nearby public lot, about 100 from the cafe. I didnt see public restrooms, but I really didnt look for them. Considering the age of the building, everything was clean and in order. I would definitely go back again.

Based on a recommendation, I tried this place, along with several colleagues who were working on a project in the area. Olden Days is a good place to eat. The prices are good and the PORTIONS are big!! OMG !!. The pancakes are BIG !! A few things caught me by surprise. The wait staff was a bit slow, though friendly. I had to wait for about 15 mins just to order. Additionally, this cafe is in a small town, along with a small town mentality. I am a person of color and yes, there was some staring, but I laugh it off and kept on going. Most of the people there were an older generation, so I guess this is to be expected. Im trying not to say this is a small hick town. Also, BRING CASH. This establishment ONLY accepts cash and checks (who accepts checks nowadays - smiles). I did not see a sign that says cash only, but be warned. Thank goodness, I had enough cash on me at the time. Their reasoning - it keeps the prices low. They do need to come to the 21st Century on the decor, but I guess its a part of their charm I seem to have missed. Overall, Good Food, Good Prices, Good Grief.. Bring your patience and cash - be the right color.

The fish is excellent. The best Cole slaw Ive had at a restaurant. We learned its made fresh daily so no wonders its so good. The mash potatoes are real! Not instant. No canned green beans either. Fresh green beans sautéed on the grill. We also had the chicken enchilada. Chicken was really tasty and the portion was huge. Couldnt eat it all. Food here is well prepared and you feel like youve gotten a homemade meal. Our waitress was very friendly. Highly recommend this place.

The worst experience Ive ever had at a restaurant. The waitress was slow and interrupted us while we were talking. She left before we were done ordering to take care of another table. We were then asked to leave after getting our bills because they had another group coming in. We were still finishing up and other customers around us commented on how rude it was. I will never go there again.

Decided to try out a new small town local restaurant for breakfast, and definitely regret going. The waitress was very rude and would walk away as I was talking to her trying to order, then messed up my girlfriends order and wasnt willing to work with us to fix it. Their food was ok, but nothing to brag about. I would not recommend anyone to go here.

First time there asked for a old fashion breaksfast.What I asked for was not compleaded to how I would liked my breakfast.If a a waitress wrote the order then she should check her order before sending it out to a customer and hearing a complaint.look it order waitress before taking it to table and have the cook fix it to there likeness.

Great local breakfast joint. Fluffy pancakes bigger than your head. Also recommend the skillets, which are (surprise!) actually served up in a hot skillet. No need to eat lunch or dinner after a meal here!

I am a carnivore by nature but the garden hash browns are over the top good!!! Put the local Papa Turts on them and go to town. The waitresses are a perfect mix of tough and tender!!!
