We hired Guru the Caterer to cater our wedding and everyone loved the food! They were very flexible, friendly, and easy to work with. After our first call with Mitzy, we stopped by their retail store for a tasting to pick our favorite dishes for the wedding. We needed to rent tables, chairs, plates, and utensils and Guru took care of that for us. They even went above and beyond by staying after our event ended at 11pm to clean-up. The guests loved the food and the budget was very reasonable so I’d highly recommend Guru the Caterer.

The food, indeed was excellent, but definitely check your order for accuracy. We ordered a vegetarian combo and they forgot to include the side dish. They included the side dish for goat curry combo. Also the lamb biriyani didnt come with any sauce or extra curry--the woman taking our order didnt clarify this when I asked either. Although we liked the food (we spent $49 on lunch), we were disappointed they shorted us a side dish and extra sauce.

Quick, fresh, and flavorful. You can eat there if you bus yourself. Their daily combos are always flavorful and delicious! Also, the cost for value is unrivaled among Indian food. Every combo comes with rice and bread (roti) and has distinctly less oily/fatty than other places. The best Indian food Ive ever had. If only they were open on Sunday... Also, if you have the little metal tiffin box they will use that for your meal (less waste!)

The food was delicious. I had a meat combination plate where you can choose one meat entrée and one veg entrée, and it comes with two rotis and rice and pickle, for around $13. Everything tasted great! This is a take out only place, but has seating inside and outside where you can eat your take out food. They provide disposable plates, cutlery, and water.

My wife and I moved out of Allston last year to West Somerville. We arent too far from Davis Square but we left behind a large culture of food choices back in Allston. This did not prepare us for the deliciousness that is Guru! The portions are guaranteed to fill you and they offer vegetarian options. I give it 5 out of 5 NOMs

Quick. Cheap. Delicious. What more could you want? The catch is that you have to get whatever they have that day, but there are still a couple different meat options and a couple different veggie options. Its very authentic and probably a little different than other Indian food youve tried. Highly recommended!

Great indian takeout place that you might never realize is more than just a caterer. It seems all the locals in the area know and swear by the place, thats how I found out about it. The menu is pretty limited, but if youre not too picky and love indian food, you wont be disappointed.

I would recommend this place to friends. We had dal tadka, palak paneer, chole and lamb curry. The lamb was soft and i could cut into it with a plastic spoon, just the way i like.. i dont like chewy meat in my curry... my wife loved the dal. Overall great food at a resonable price.

Attention Belmont! Guru has the best INDIAN takeout around - much spicier, bigger portions, great service, fantastic bread - all at a much better price than our local Indian restaurant. Its totally worth the drive. Everything is delicious and there are tons of vegetarian options.

My regular place for lunch! Great deals. Family owned and run. the food is delicious and less creamy just like my family makes it a home! Their roti (breads) which come with every meal combo are super soft. Been eating there nearly every Saturday for the last year! :-)

I love this place. The food is consistently good, and the staff is very friendly. If you time it right, you can also chat with the owners young daughter. A truly caring and warm local place, with delicious food and good value.

Ive been coming here since it first opened. The food has remained very good quality, though over the years I think its gotten a bit more oily, and prices have crept up. Still one of our top choices for takeout.

One of the best Restaurants to serve homemade style Indian food. The combos are extremely reasonable and filling. The chapatis are very close to home made and veg samosas are to die for.

If you want less oily Indian food that tastes as if it was made by an Indian mom then Guru is the best Indian restaurant in Boston. I love the food here. It is simple but tasty.

Good place !! Tried combo for the first time. Dal makhani was not typical indian dal makhani though goat curry was fine. Best part was having tawa roti with ghee !!

I had Guru cater my Masonic Lodge event and it was perfect. The food was wonderful and feedback was all very positive. I fed 40 guys for less than $320.00. Not bad!

You get a lot for your money here! The chicken tikka masala is very good, but some items on the menu could be very spicy for your taste, so ask before ordering.

Really good food with a limited menu each day. They focus on what they can do really well that day, which I appreciate. Catering is amazing as well!

Good Indian food at extremely reasonable prices; they only lose a star because Ive found the quality to be a little unpredictable between visits.

Good food, reasonable price. Limited options though. Try the goat dishes if you dont mind dealing with the bones- they are good.
