We are big fans of The Century House, but specifically the huge bar in The Linden Tavern. While the restaurant caters to a more mature crowd (great food, low prices, big portions, unchanging menu) the tavern is filled with a broader range of ages. The bar is particular friendly and most folks are happy to chat with the people around them. This makes for an especially inviting experience for women dining alone, with the almost exclusively female bar staff and a bright pleasant interior. The service is usually great with few delays. And the food is generally delicious and generous. My one personal note is that they often over cook the grilled fish for my tastes. The prime rib and the fillet mignon are my favorites! One giant plus is the kitchen serves LATE in the tavern!

This is a fine place to eat. We had not visited here in 20 years and it was just as good as ever. When I paid my bill with my Discover Card we got to talking to our waitress about how good the meal was and how we lived in Florida and use to eat there years ago. After leaving and driving back to where we were staying in the Worcester area I realized I had left my credit card at the Century House. I called them the next day and they assured me they had found my card and would send it out to me at the address we were staying at. I received the card back in 3 days. I can only say how this speaks to the integrity of the staff and reputation of the Century House. Hopefully, we will be able to eat here again before we return to Florida.

My family had a bereavement luncheon on April 2, 2016 with 25 people attending. It was 5 Star from the scheduling process all the way to the luncheon itself. Casey Toomey the manager for the event was professional times 10. She and her entire staff accommodated every request we had and went beyond what was expected. Our wait staff, headed by Susan Henderson and Dawn Donovan, were exceptional in every reguard. Its obvious that the entire team at The Century House is very well coached and pays attention to the smallest of details. I would recommend The Century House only to those who want the best. Those who will not settle for anything but the very higest quality from event preperation, personal service and exceptional food.

Went there the first time with my husband last night. He had the steak tips with mashed potatoes. It was delicious! You cant go wrong with the steak. Nice, tender, and juicy. Our waitress was friendly enough but didnt really pay us much attention. We had to wait 15 minutes for refills on our waters. I had the haddock, calamari basket, It was terrible. It was a Friday, and the fish was old, frozen, and tasted funny. Im definitely going back to The Weathervane Tavern for decent fried haddock; not Century house. It isnt a romantic restaurant. Too loud and noisy. Service was sub-par; food sub-par except for the steak. Not going back to this place any time soon. In fact, I dont think anyone could pay me to go back here.

We had a terrible lunch at the Century House. The broccoli was burned. They claimed it was roasted. The broccoli tasted like very burned toast. I could not eat the rest of the vegetables as the pieces of the burned broccoli covered the area. The chicken was very small. The waitress never gave my wife water, and my water was not refilled. We have been going to your restaurant for over thirty years, and I do not think we will ever go back there. We drove from Stoneham to get a decent meal, but was very disappointed. Arthur Bennett

I am so OUTRAGED I have been to the century house many times with wonderful service BUT WE WAITED 25 MINUTES IN OUR SEAT WITHOUT ANY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM A WAITRESS NO DRINKS OR EVEN A STATEMENT TO SAY SORRY WE WILL BE RIGHT WITH YOU when leaving told the hostess sorry we were leaving but nobody wanted to wait on us, she first tried to place the blame on an issue with another table and then asked us why we didnt flag down a waitress! SHE DIDNT EVEN APOLOGIVE! I DIDNT KNOW THAT THE CENTURY HOUSE WAS A SELF SERVICE PLACE!

I simply cannot write a better review than the one from an anonymous patron on Aug 29, 2010 (below), because thats not only hilarious, but its right on point: this place is for people who want lots of food for a great value, meat and potatoes crowd, great for family occasions with older family members. I personally love to come here for the nostalgia (I was brought here as a kid) and the pecan rolls they give you before every meal.

This place is old reliable. The food is good and never things I cant identify. I love to try new things, but sometimes its nice to know there are still places that serve good old fashioned New England cuisine! They even have early bird specials still. The service was polite but its never a good idea to have patrons hearing the staff bad mouth each other. Overall, I still live this classic.

We had a bad experience. Normally it is a great place to eat but last night not so much. We never got our drinks refilled the server dropped our food and ran. We were crammed in between two tables we had to get up to allow the other table to sit down. The food was not as good as normal as well. All in all we will not rush back there again.

The prime rib was delicious. It melted in my mouth. My father had the baked stuffed shrimp with crab meat that was great also. The nut cinnamon sticky buns were delicious. The service was tremendous and everybody was very pleasant. There was quite a variety on the early bird specials and with soup and dessert those meals were complete.

Was instantly refused service as a 24yr old man for having an out of state license...( New Hanpshire ) as a bartender myself in the state of MA, that is absolutely ridiculous. Was really looking forward to trying this place out but wont ever be back now because apparently they only serve people in state.

This place is classic and is geared toward older patrons. Dont go expecting a modern menu or very fast service. The food is good and prices are very good too. Its not very modern but if you go expecting quality food at a fair price in a place where you can talk with your family, its a winner.

As soon as I left the restaurant, I forgot the name. The service was terrible. Who knew that 15 minutes is the same as 45 minutes?! If you don't like your food seasoned with even a touch of salt and or pepper, this may be the perfect place. For dessert, all I wanted was Tums.

I have always enjoyed this place until recently. Wendy has to be the worst & rudest bartender I have ever seen, and I am 57 years old. If you are not a regular you almost have to beg to be served. I have been going there occasionally for many years. Perhaps its time to stop!

The food was good but the bar staff was rude and ignorant. They would only serve the regular customers and would eventually look our way. We spent $200 on dinner, drinks and appetizers (more than anyone else in the bar area) and we were still treated badly.
