Bourdain was not wrong with this place. This diner was great. Food hit the right spot and the owner and staff were friendly beyond belief. You leave there feeling like a local. The coffee was not bitter and the eggs are cooked the way you like them. The pancakes are on point but the one thing you have to order is the corn beef hash and a side of ham. It is a staple there. Go there hungry and leave wanting to take a nap from all the great food you just ate.

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Small and dirty. The cook was touching raw meat, cooked meat, and bread with no gloves and not washing his hands. The counters where covered with stuck on food and there were dirty napkins balled up above the grill. Eggs sitting out in the counter and a big ham uncovered just sitting in the counter. Unless you like the idea of food poisoning I would find a different spot.

We tried this place out because it was rated well, but we were not impressed. The service was good: quick and friendly. The food was sub par. The cook was coughing around the grill area as he cooked - generally, not recommended. We still stuck it out, only to be disappointed by the food. It wasnt horrible (but wasnt great). Very tight seating area. Dont come with a crowd.

SO DIRTY the cook was touching raw meat then cooked meat and cooked toast without gloves / sweating and wiping his head. and didnt was his hands the whole time we were in there. We got up and left before eating. The counter was dirty and the place was kind of sketchy... try muls diner instead it was delicious and the prices were great.

The Galley Diner is a real gem. I almost hesitate to recommend it because that means more people might find it (!) Its a little divey diner with awesome food (my favorites are the blueberry pancakes & cornbeef hash.) The staff are super friendly and the regulars are worth getting to know. Move this one to the top of your list!

Just what the doctor ordered, respectfully the hole in the walls are the best. If your looking for breakfast in a box, dont go here. This is made to order greasy spoon at its finest. Not to mention the staff while busy and navigating close quarters, were extremely pleasant. Ill be back!

What an amazing place in Southie. Food was great and I immediately felt like family when I walked in. Food is fantastically delicious and service was like at home. Definitely will be back and highly recommend this place; best breakfast that Ive ever had.

Take the earlier flight to Logan, grab a 5 min cab ride to Galley Diner . . . and treat yourself to a great breakfast. I have been coming here for years. Always a friendly family greeting and great home cooking. Best breakfast in Boston.
