Daikanyama is a so-so Americanized sushi restaurant. Its billed as this sort of upscale, too good to be true for a mall place- and it kind of is- but its still not a sushi place Id recommend someone go out of their way for. Service is a little slow, and not super helpful. For example, regarding the menu, I asked what the "Sapporo Silver" is and the waitress responded, "Its a beer". I then had to specify, "How is it different from the other Sapporo on the menu?" to which she replied, "Its bigger." Also, the decor is a bit weird in that you could fool yourself into believing youre sitting in an airport terminal (then again, you are in a Bloomingdales), as the lighting is a bit harsh. Most importantly, the food is fine, but not amazing. Its certainly above your average mall sushi, but isnt notably good. For their speciality makis, they try a bit too hard with their toppings. The Ladybug Maki for instance has sliced mini plum tomatoes on it and they dont add a thing to an otherwise fine roll.

Never crowded, great service, intimate but enjoyable setting and right in the mall! Their food here is top quality and they have these amazing sushi nachos that are amazing. There is also this special roll on the tablet menu that has everything in it and it is by far the best roll I have ever had anywhere else. This place is a bit pricey but totally worth it for those two items alone!

Not your average mall food - very solid quality food. Take advantage of the lunch menu! 1 star off because the staff were not as friendly (immediately cleaned my food as I finished even if no one was waiting). There is another entrance from Bloomingdales apart from the parking entrance.

Price: $30+/person Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Noise: low limited selection of traditional sushi, and a wide assortment of inspired rolls. Great fresh fish. Physical dividers help keep the noise level down.

I am normally not fond of having food at a mall. They have good quality sushi. The staff is friendly and the place is inviting. They close early though. On weekend evenings, a reservation is required.
