We were impressed with the portions as well as the quality. I read a few reviews that Douzo skimped on the amount of fish compared to the amount of rice in their sushi. That definitely was not an issue with our experience. We had hamachi, maguro, sake, unagi and their red spider, rainbow and tiger rolls. All were delicious except for the tiger which had too much mayonaise for our taste. Each piece had a good sized portion of fish on the rice. We had a flite of 3 sakes which was a great way to sample different sake styles. The "Full Flavored" were our favorite so we ordered a few more glasses. The decor and ambiance were nice, but the 30-ft ceilings made the room a bit noisy. It was a busy Saturday night and the customers were not the reason for the noise-- it was Douzos music that was too loud. I liked the combination of techno-house music... but the volume didnt need to be turned up so high. All in all, the food and drink were delicious and we had a great experience... I would recommend Douzo to anyone.

Highly recommended if you are looking for a great restaurant for a nice splurge. Had a wonderful experience here. There were a lot of people but the wait was acceptable for about 20 minutes. So glad I read in one of the reviews that they offer Omakase (お任せ) "leaving it up to the chef". Its not on their menu & I knew to ask for it. The ingredients were top notch fresh & the dishes imo were classics with creative twists. All the fish was nicely prepared and cut, great texture, and again, very fresh so they did not taste fishy at all. There were five dishes and the last one was a giant plate of maki rolls of all varieties. We were caught off guard by how much food there was. Not complaining though. My friend is a foodie/food critique. As soon as she took a bite of the red snapper (prepared as sashimi), she commented that this might have been the best sashimi shes ever tasted.

I walk by this place on my way to work and never gave it a second look - very unassuming from the outside. My wife & I went there tonight for dinner - normally I dont write reviews but felt compelled after our experience there. Simply outstanding. Yes, you have to wait, and no, its not cheap, but it was worth every minute and every penny. We found the staff to be very friendly despite the trendy environment, which kept it from feeling pretentious. We ordered four special rolls in addition to an appetizer and felt the portions were just the right size. The ingredients were very fresh and the sushi was creative - the Torch and Phoenix rolls were especially good. We werent going to get dessert but tried the strawberry cream cake upon our waiters suggestion, and were so glad we did. We will definitely be back. One of Bostons best spots for sushi - dont miss it!

I think this is the sushi place in this area. After a terrible experience across the street, I was so happy to dine here. Its definitely not just your standard takeout place. It has a fun atmosphere, drinks, appetizers. I go for the standard rolls but they definitely offer some crazy ones for the more adventurous.I think you pay alittle more for the experience and the fresh sushi. In my opinion, worth it. I really enjoyed the seaweed salad and my raspberry gingertini. I went back recently to get makimono lunch, I thought it was a good deal. I cant wait to return to try the lobster miso soup-yum!

This is definitely one of the higher-end and higher quality sushi restaurants. If you come here, you should definitely splurge and indulge in their amazing sushi/sashimi offerings. Although the rolls here are pretty unique, I would definitely advise against the rolls and getting their sashimi! However, I really did like their Tiger Roll, which had octopus, eel, and salmon. They have very large cuts of their sashimi, and each piece is very juicy and perfectly fatty. The standouts were their uni, salmon, tuna, albacore tuna, and yellowtail.

Been here numerous times with friends and family. One of Bostons newer sushi restaurants, in Back Bay near the MBTA/Commuter rail stop on Dartmouth St (diagonally across from Niemen Marcus entrance.) Sushi here is top-grade, designer rolls are fresh and inventive, although I have not tried any of the hot dishes. Service has always been good. Decor/atmosphere is very modern, with interesting lighting, and lounge/electronic music (isnt too loud, but might turn you off if you arent expecting downtempo sounds while you eat...)

My favorite sushi restaurant on the east coast, Douzo is innovative and surprising. One of my favorite date spots, the atmosphere is inviting and unpretentious. The menu is full of every Japanese option one can crave. Friendly waitstaff and expert chefs make Douzo one of the best. From Nigiri to Omakase, Douzo has continuously impressed me. Fresh fish, beautiful presentation, and a myriad of options are reasons why Douzo stands out amongst many Japanese restaurants in Boston.

Modernes Sushi Restaurant mit gehobener Atmosphäre und gutem Service. Das Essen ist gut und einfallsreich mit ansonsten noch nie gesehenen Kreationen und die Fische sind von höchster Qualität. Evt reservieren Empfohlen.

It was my first time to have dinner at Douzo. We ask for validated parking rate when we left. The waitress reacted like we asked a wrong question and how come she will know how much the validated parking is. She kept saying that she dont know and then I asked if you could check it out for me. It seems to be a ridiculous request for her. Luckily, other staffs passed by told us about the parking rate. Anyway, I guess she had a rough night.

If you like RATs walking around the dining area then eat here. I am disgusted and appalled that this happened today. I could not believe my eyes. I was having lunch with my mother and we were both witness to the rat carelessly sauntering around and ended up under the table of a patron. I told the manager and he was not alarmed at all and acted surprised. I will not be eating here again. Disgusting

i was seated at the bar where the sushi is prepared and became more and more disgusted as the evening went along. all five chefs had plastic gloves and somehow believed that anything they touched, a dirty towel, their ears or the sushi, became sterile by this measure. i never saw them change gloves even once and at the end i could not even eat up. revolting and very disappointing.

Our waitress Isis was so sweet and very accomodating. The salmon sashimi melted in my mouth. There arent very many sushi restaurants that I have been to with such a unique flare... and torch! That was an amazing demonstration of the torched salmon roll. The lighting, music, and decor created a relaxing upscale ambiance. Will definitely be back on my next visit to Boston.

This is a all around good Japanese restaurant. From sushi to drinks. I highly recommend the Spicy Scallop Kiwi roll, its fantastic. Its a perfect place for all types of events, a workplace outing, a date, a night out with your friends. It;s definitely worth checking it out, if you are the Copley area and you are in the mood for some sushi roll.s

Been going to Douzo for 4 years now. Love this place. Brittany B is an awesome waitress. large menu, consistently reliable sushi. Can sometime be a bit trendy and self important, but as something of a regular I avoid all that now. People do complain about the price, but the normal sushi is competitively priced if you avoid the special rolls.
