AWFUL - FOOD POISONING, SHADY, TIP SCAM I ate at this restaurant last night. The service was unbelievable slow and rude, but the real reason for this complaint started upon receiving my bill which had an 18% automatic gratuity added. On my single check. I was sitting with 4 other people, which they told me was the reason for the automatic gratuity. It is my understanding that this practice is for parties of 6 or more, not 5 - and especially not when one person at the table didnt even order dinner (and I was on my own check). This was irritating in and of itself, particularly because I would never have tipped that much for the service Id received during dinner. Then I was in the parking lot saying goodbye to my friends when the waiter came outside and started yelling at us about a missing sake cup - what?!? he was accusing us of taking one of their tiny sake cups, which is preposterous and unbound completely. They had started clearing the table of dishes for several rounds while we were still at the table even. He proceeded to write down my friends license plate number, and swear at us to never go back there again (which I never would anyway). I am absolutely FLABBERGASTED at this experience, as we were nothing but polite during our entire meal. I cannot believe they just accused us of stealing with no basis, and proceeded to accost us in the parking lot. I honestly thought the waiter might actually hit me, such was the violence of his words and how close to me he got. I drove away quickly. To top it all off, I woke up in the middle of the night with food poisoning! I am thoroughly unimpressed and believe this business needs some serious review for multiple counts of poor behavior, unethical business practices, and probably health code violations.

Ill have to give these guys credit for being the ones who made me fall in love with sushi almost a decade ago. My preconception of eating raw fish instantly became an addiction after ordering lunch through them (credit to my former boss). Yes... I vividly remember my first experience with sushi. At the time, there werent too many offerings for sushi in the North Shore. Nowadays, every other Asian restaurant includes sushi on the menu. Pricing is a little above average compared to other restaurants in the area, but what sets apart Sake and others is their intimate atmosphere. Interior and exterior design/decorations is heavily Asian influenced. The servers even dress up in kimonos. Some may say its a bit over the top, but it does add to the experience (particularly for myself when I first visited). I dont visit Sake as much as I used to. But when I do, nostalgia of my first love of raw fish hits me very hard. Props to these guys for introducing sushi to the North Shore so long ago before becoming such a common cuisine.

My wife and I have lived on the North Shore for 4 years now, and this is BY FAR our favorite place to eat. (don t be fooled by the exterior appearance) If you like good food, you have to try this place. Even if you don t like sushi, the entree s are great! I used to love the garlic steak. I have been a vegetarian now for two years, and we still go here on average once a week. They do only really have one entre that I can eat that isn t special order, but I generally stick to the app s, sushi, salad, and soup and believe me its plenty. (its worth going here just to try the house salad dressing) And. to top it all off, the staff are the friendliest people you ll ever meet. 10 Thumbs up!

Be careful when you get the bill and if you can pay with cash, I urge you to do it. I went there with my wife on 9-19-2014 and pay $96 dollars for the dinner just to realize 3 days later that they had surcharged me $100.00 dollars. When I confronted them about the discrepancy, they had the audacity to tell me that they were going to send me a gift certificate for that amount that I could use next time. I had to go thru my bank in order to get the money back. Please, keep the copy of your receipt if you pay with a credit card and make sure you check your account statement. Food was average and service was OK, I guess...

The food was great, but at the end of the night the wait staff tried to scam us out of $100! We had to put up with verbal harassment among other things while waiting on the police to arrive to deal with the situation. When at court to fight the situation the manager arrived late, and admitted to not knowing any background or history of any of his employees! The County Clerk also stated that he had just resolved a similar money scam case with this restruants sister restruant! The court decided in my favor; and I would highly recomend that no one goto this restruant if they care about the safety of their wallet!

The blandest Japanese food I have ever eaten. The sushi was "Ok" but there was nothing special about it. The carpets were so filthy, it looked like they hadnt been cleaned for over 20 years, and needs replacing. The staff was very friendly, but could barely understand English, instead of asking me to clarify, they just pretended they understood, because when they responded back to me, what they said had nothing to do with what I said. (Very dangerous for people with food allergys). Very disappointing.

We consider ourselves people who appreciate very good sushi, and this is great - very fresh fish always, and great chefs. My wife orders Giant Clam and also often orders Scallop sashimi. Both are often hard to find at average sushi restaurants. Cant say enough good things about Sake. Again, its entirely about the high quality of the fish. We continue to go back.

The food here is amazing! All of the employees are very kind. I love that they give you a steamed towel to clean your hands when you first get to your table. This is also one of the cleanest reastaurants I have ever been to. The atmosphere is very homey and calming. I cant recommend this place enough!

Long time customer and everyone here are so wonderful! Not only they are kind and generous, but the food is delicious. My kids love their udon noodle. They are very picky but Sake was kind enough to customize their order every single time, at no charge. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Dishes are fantastic! We never leave here without having their hokaiyaki appetizers and the green tea tempura ice cream. We have tried LOTS of dishes and we have never been disappointed. The service is great, and the place may look plain on the outside, but it is very nice inside.

Both my husband and I love this restaurant! The outside is a bit rundown but the inside feels very comfortable. They have two areas to sit in, one with tables and one with seats on the floor. The tempura is delicious, along with their sushi and green tea ice cream.

One of the best sushi places in the Boston area -- even better than Fukagyu, though not as good as Oishii (of course). Rock and Roll (their spicy salmon) is especially tasty! And the King Crab maki. And their shumai. And ... yeah, just eat there, already! :)
