I never had a problem with Koreana - I loved the food, liked the staff, thought the atmosphere was nice, etc. etc. - until last night. My girlfriend and I went for our 1 year anniversary, and we ordered a LOT of food - 2 orders of Galbi, an order of Khang Poong ghi, and a bottle of plum wine. We wound up barely touching the khang poong ghi, even though its our favorite dish, and so we got it to go. When I tore open the stapeled bag and opened the carton the next day, though, the carton was barely halfway full. We paid $19 for a heaping dish of delicious chicken, and they gave us less than a third of what we paid for when I got the leftovers to go. When I went back to the restaurant to talk to the manager about it, I was told that such a mistake was "impossible," but I was assured that the food that I had would still taste good if I went home and microwaved it. Thanks, guys. Im sorry, despite the sentimental value of this place being the site of me and my girlfriends first date and 1-year date, we wont be going back again. The value of retaining a repeat customer surely must be worth giving us the meal we actually paid for. Oh well.

Me, my wife and two year old daughter were in Boston for a couple of days during labor day weekend. My wife and kid are picky on food and finally based on a local friends recommemdation, we agreed to come here and give this place a try. The food was fantastic! Ive never had better Shumai and Chicken Teriyaki in my life! We enjoyed our food very much, even my two year old daughter enjoyed the food despite her being a very bad eater. You could say that we were very satisfied after leaving here :) The atmosphere and ambiance were very nice and clean. The decor was wonderful. The service was exceptional and our waitress was very accomodating and friendly, no matter how messy my little girl got :) (I really wish I remembered her name) If you are in Boston and you are craving fine Asian food, give this place a try. You wont regret it. This is one of the reasons why we love coming to Boston and whenever we visit Boston, eating here is an absolute MUST!

When I come to Koreana I get the same thing every time, as it is probably my favorite dish. That would be the Dolsot Bibimbop which is a very nice dish served in a hot stone bowl with rice, vegetables, and beef. I like that the meals also come with small appetizer like dishes that usually have kimchi, vegetables, and other pickled foods. The prices here are on the higher side for Korean food, but it is very delicious. The dining room is large and Ive never waited for a table here. They offer bbq tables where you can do hot pot or grill your own meat. At the end of the meal they also bring out a bowl of some sort of cinnamon tea type of dessert that is very good. The staff can sometimes be a bit inattentive but overall the food is great and this is a nice restaurant.

Weve been going here for a year and had always liked it just fine. This past time, though, we ordered one of our favorite dishes specifically to have it wrapped up to-go to eat the next day. About 1/3 of the food and none of the vegetables made it into the to-go box. When we returned and asked them to give us a replacement for the $20 entree (as a broke college kid, $20 was a lot to me, but Ive always made an effort of tipping big and my bill had been $85 so it wasnt some sort of age discrimination), they insisted we were wrong and refused. In talking with other friends who have gone there, Ive heard this happens frequently. It distresses me that they care so little about us regulars, and sadly, we will not be returning.

OK, so Im not really sure how to rate this place. There isnt too much that the kitchen does to the main ingredients besides making sure theyre fresh. What I would add though is that the sauces are great. I definitely overloaded on the "spicy" hot sauce with sesame. Overall, the food was good - the desserts (mochi and ice cream cake) were standard Trader Joes. Service was good as well. They managed to seat the eight of us in a short amount of time. The waitress was relatively patient with us as we asked her some rather inane questions. The downside is that they were only willing to take 5 credit cards (one of my biggest pet peeves!)

I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. The prices can get pretty expensive but their lunch specials are good value! I ordered the yukgaejang which came in a huge bowl with a side of rice. The banchans (complimentary small dishes) are plentiful and kept flowing. Other people at the table got the vegetable tempura which was a good sized bento box. The flavors were quite authentic and I was overall happy with this restaurant. I wasnt sure I could find a good Korean restaurant after moving from LA but happy I found this!

:-) Highlights: a friendly owner/host and the Bulgogi was great. The side dishes were good. :-( Lowlights: The dipping sauce that came with the Sang Galbi was smoky and burnt, hardly acceptable when paying $27 for a meal that centers around BBQing unmarinated beef and then dipping it in sauce. Finally, the tempera was thick and greasy with vegetables that did not taste fresh. For ~$40 per person, we expected more from Koreana. All in all, it was a 2.5 out of 5 star experience.

When I first went into koreana, it was fine I was seated quickly. But soon as I was seated everybody moved from the side I was on to the other side or left completely. I just showered so I know that wasnt the issue. Besides that the servers were serving and attending to other customers that came in after me. I never pull the race card but Im a minority and I been a lot of places and I never felt more uncomfortable than this experience at the koreana.

The food here is great. The bip n bop is my go-to and its a great amount of food. Although this dish is my favorite, the menu is full of great options. I havent found anything like Koreana in and around Boston. The ambiance is great, its relaxing and calm. Very peaceful. The staff is very friendly and it took nearly no time for my food to come. Ive eaten there alone and with friends, its ideal for any occasion.

An ok place to try Korean barbecue and get your hands dirty rolling up your lettuce wraps. Servers will cook your meat for you and theres an abundance of side dishes you can pair it with. I would suggest to get the bulgogi (we tried other meats, but have always come back to bulgogi). And theres no need to get one dish each person: last time we got 4 meats for 6 people and it felt more than enough.

My husband and I were looking for somewhere for dinner before a movie at the Kendall Sq cinema and found Koreana. We started with sushi, then had the Korean BBQ rib eye and pork. Its served with a great assortment of various pickled veggies, seaweed, etc (which you could get extra of for free). Everything was great, the service, the ambience, the food, and price. Cant wait to go back there!
