absolutely disappointed in this restaurant! I dont like the idea of writing this review because the thought of not serving someone because of the there race is extremely disappointing. I walked into the restaurant, was NOT greeted, looked over by EVERY employee and treated like second class citizen. When I did, finally, receive assistance I asked for a menu and asked to order a drink, the young lady told me "maybe you should go to Tip Top down the street" then she walks away. Its ironic because everyone else in the restaurant primarily Asian, or Caucasian were served with minimal effort, and I was barely able to order a glass of water! I have a lot of major businesses that often travel to Boston for conferences, etc. and I will absolutely recommend to NEVER EAT AT THIS RESTURANT! because the treatment is absolutely unnecessary and just wrong on all levels. and out of all the places my company and I travel for and the many restuarants that I hold meetings Seoul is by far THE WORST place and what makes it worse is that Im commenting on a establishment that Im not able to critique the food, but instead venting on how disrespected I felt. Good luck!

Standard Korean food - but still tasty! Beautiful, convenient space in Beacon Hill. Its nice to have a solid Korean option without having to trek to Allston. We tried to shrimp shumai, crab rangoon, and yakitomi (sp? fried octopus balls) as appetizers and shared chicken bulgogi, beef bulgogi, and chicken stone pot bibimbap as entrees. The entrees come with sides (brocoli, kimchi, mushrooms, fish cakes, poptato salad, rice), so this was a great amount for the 6 of us. Unfortunately our server was very moody and unwilling to make menu recommendations or advise how much we should order. Not helpful at all, so we just winged it. Everything tasted fine, but the stand-out was by far the beef bulgogi, as the meat was tender, and the marinate was flavorful and juicy.

Very disappointing in both quality of food and service! One of the reasons one goes to a Korean restaurant is the variety (5-7) of little dishes (5-7) e.g. kimchi, spicy tofu, condiments etc. etc. that most Korean restaurants serve after ordering but BEFORE the main entre is served. We waited and waited and the waiter told us that they will be served together with the main entre!!!???? Whats the point, people likes to try these appetizer while waiting. Very odd policy. Penny wise and pound foolish. Furthermore, the service was not that great. The waiter kept forgetting my drink. I will NOT eat at this restaurant again. I guess this also explains why the restaurant was not full at all on a Saturday night while the restaurants next doors were packed.

So ... I couldnt quite decide how to rate this. You see, the food was actually good. Korean restaurants in this part of town is few and far between and Seoul actually had good food! The naengmyun (cold noodles), the kalbi, and the hot stone bibimbaps were all delicious. My tofu chigae was alright, though not as good as the other dishes. The problem was the service. To say it was slow is an understatement. You know when you see your dishes just sitting there on a tray next to the kitchen but your server kept passing it by to deal with other tables. She passed it by 3-4 times while my soup is getting cooler and cooler. Minus one star for that :( If youre not in a hurry, though, Id recommend the food.

Today I went to Seoul around 5pm. We had a very rude waiter named Adam, or waitress really couldnt tell the difference, who would not acknowledge any thank yous said and was never around. When more drinks were ordered they were brought out late and we felt we were chasing the waiter. We split the check into 4 due to credit cards we had and 2 of us tipped heavy (50%) of each of their bills and the others tipped lighter and the waiter confronted one of us from the window of the restaurant as we were walking out to confront for not getting " a good enough tip" and asking for money indirectly... Very rude and unprofessional. Great food but service didnt match.

This place is chinese run and chinese take on japanese. Not authentic Japanese. We ordered sushi and sashimi combo which comes with miso and rice. Miso was bit watery and not thicker like traditional Japanese style. Rice was jasmine rice, kind they serve in southeast asian cuisines or china. Sushi and sashimi really threw us off. First. Fake crab meat sushi and sashimi? Second. Way they sliced the fish was badly done. My sashimi was thick on one side and thin on other. So uneven that it was anniying to eat in one bite. Not to mention texture being butchered. Same for sushi.

I went to Ma Soba for sushi, after reading several good reviews, and was disappointed. First, there is a gym located on top of the restaurant, so as a guest, I felt the vibrations, and the noises, very disturbing. Second, the sashimi was not fresh, and cut in big, thick slices, not very tasteful arranged on the platter either. The sushi rolls were accepatable but not enticing at all. The service was outstanding, and the restaurant was clean. Furthermore, the bill was way too high considering the quality of the food. Sorry :-(

Ive used multiple groupons here and I would come regardless of the deal. The sushi is very creative-lots of great sauces with various rolls, super fresh and tasty. The clientele is typical Beacon Hill types but they are fun to watch and good looking. Food is a bit pricey but nice if you want a variety of great sushi rolls as well as other appetizers or Asian sides. If you are feeling adventurous, try the Sno Cone roll-(I think that is what it is called)-it has some creamy sauce that will have you salivating for more.

I had a great experience at Ma Soba! We ordered dumplings in a spicy peanut sauce--soo good, sweet potato sushi (surprisingly, could have been the best thing we ordered! and inexpensive), udon noodles in broth were the best I ever had, and the crunchy dragon roll was definitely good, but Ive had a lot of sushi thats tasted similar so I cant write home about it. However I am very sensitive to fish that is fresh, and the tuna in it practically melted in my mouth without a hint of "fishy-ness". Prices are great.

-1 star for not giving me raw eggs with my soft tofu soup. Its so fun to crack them in and stir them up! The eggs were already in this one though. It was delicious regardless though. Perfect level of spice. Scallion pancake, kimchi pancake, ttokboki, side dishes...everything was great. The pancakes had the perfect amount of crispyness to them. Service was fast and friendly and funny. I take it back, I give back the star because everything was so good.

Sushi was average. Pieces of sashimi were of generous size. Pad Thai was not good, too much egg and sauce was too thin. Service was VERY good, staff very attentive. Nicely decorated with nice window seats. We had two apps, Gyoza which was fantastic and the spring roll trio, which was served with one shrimp, one pork, and one veg. These were okay. Would probably explore other sushi before trying this place again.
