This is a very small location. Write your name on the clip board, and wait outside because it usually gets pretty crowded inside that small restaurant. If youre new to Korean, you should definitely try the combo of tofu soup with either BBQ beef or ribs. These Korean BBQ dishes are marinated with great flavors, and appeals to many different types of palettes. The combo-sized tofu soup is smaller when you order the combo, but its worth it because they give you a lot of meat. My favorite tofu soup (soondooboo) is the seafood and kimchi/beef if I dont get the combo. They also give you banchan (side dishes) complimentary before your meal arrives, and I personally really like the cucumber kimchi and the potato salad. This place is great for a cold day in Boston!

The food here is really good. They serve Korean style tofu soup with other entrees of meat/noodles as well. So why did I give it 3 stars if the food is this good!? Well, let me explain. When they first opened, they allowed for unlimited banchan (side dishes that comes with your entree, such as; kim chi, bean sprouts, spicy cucumbers, etc etc). Now, they only allow for one refill of only 4 items. I find this ridiculous since all other korean restaurants give you as much as you like! Also, they serve you your sides when your main entree arrives...everywhere else serves it well before your main entree arrives. This is done so that you dont eat too many sides and ask for refill. So, food is good, but service is meh.

I just left the place upset. Aluminum foil in our kalbi. They didnt replace the dish. Horrible service and didnt care because they "auto tip" 18% on us. It was just my family (x5). We have three little kids. Too crowded. Waitress even asked table next to us to move another smaller table because larger party came into the door. The customer had to carry his own drink to another table. Poor ventilation inside this tight space. Your clothes will stink up, when you leave. Never going there again. Kaju tofu isnt even popular place. Someone should open another tofu chain in Boston. Cant be worse than this place.

I always get their mushroom tofu soup. Make sure they put an egg in it. You get free Korean side dishes (pickled cucumber, kimchi, fried egg) to go with your rice. They dont refill water very often, so dont hesitate to refill it yourself. Spiciness levels are Americanized--the most spicy is about cayenne level. This particular location is as good as the Korean Tofu soup (sundubu jjigae) places in the San Francisco Bay Area. I dont like the Harvard Square location very much. Interior is cozy but a bit crowded at peak lunch/dinner hours (particularly weekends).

An extremely unpleasant experience!!! I ordered a kimchi beef tofu soup, but they mistakenly gave me an ordinary beef tofu soup without any kimchi in it. However, they didnt want to replace it and asked for a mandatory 18% tip. Whats worse? The amount of the 18% tip is not even correctly calculated on my bill (i.e., it was higher than 18%), and they asked for tax for the tip amount as well. The soup is just so so. Since there are so many other Korean restaurants, I will never deal with these dishonest people in the future.

Its a small place and they dont take reservations. So expect at least an hour wait at peak eating hours. Its worth it, especially when youre craving soondubu on a cold, winters day. Service is friendly and attentive. I dont think you can go wrong with any of the entrees. My favorite part of soondubu is the nurungji (burnt rice in the stone pot) or nurungji bap (when you pour barley tea into the stone pot). As full as you may be at the end of the meal, dont forget to give that a try!

The sundubu is the winner, esp on a cold winter night. Soft tofu soup with veg, protein and spice level of your choice, served in a bubbling hot iron cauldron. The spice level is mellowed out by the raw egg you crack into the sundubu, which gently cooks in the residual heat of the still roiling broth. Plenty of rice and banchan to round out the meal. Make like a senior citizen and go early -- the inordinate wait starts around 6 when nearby students and locals fill the small space.

I may have had high expectation as I currently live in N.Y. I had Yukgaejang and my wife had kimchi tofu with pork. Yukgaejang was the worst in my life because it was salty and soup did not taste like just water with pepper powder without boiling meat for a long time. The meat was also not tender. The tofu soup was bad as well because very little kumchi and pork. I would not recommend this place to Korean people who already know the real taste.

Love this place, especially for Boston winters! Food - Their veggie, curry, kimchi soups with the soft melt-in-your-mouth tofu are delicious. The sides are equally good. Dont expect the same sides every time, they give whats available. Wait time - Can be loooong. But what can I say, the food is worth it!

After reading the review, my son and I went to eat here. Much to my surprise, everything had too much sugar. It made all the dishes taste like dessert. The reviews did not help us make the best decision in coming and tasting the foods. It was a disappointing experience.

Great soondoobu! All of them are the same price. I got the kimchi with oyster. The extra spicy level I found not overwhelming, as someone with a high spice tolerance. A tad pricey and a stingy with the bonchon are my only complaints. Definitely a buy!

Shame on you Kaju Tofu. Dont serve Ramen Soup-flavoured Tofu Stew. Make enough space between tables. Dont push customers away, just like in Korea. Be polite and friendly. Making money shouldnt be your priority.

The service was horrible.... they are unfriendly and wouldnt even refill side dishes as other Korean restaurants do normally. The food was so so. I will never go there. They dont know how to treat customers.

This place is quite popular among the students as it was full even at 5 pm. There was only one veggie entree, white rice with tofu and assorted vegetables for $15. Its a very small portion for the price.

Im not too familiar with the BBQ here, which is supposed to be great, but I have had the tofu soup on multiple occasions, which is fantastic, as well as the bibimbap, which was similarly fantastic.

Every time I walk by Kaju Tofu there is a huge line...well, I finally got the opportunity to try it out and let me say this - it was worth the wait! Highly recommend.

After I made order, the server suggested I need to order more. Food is ok overall. The side dish is good. There is smell of washroom when we arrived around 11:30am.

The taste, i just love it. The best Korean food in Boston, if you love spicy food like I do, you have to try the tofu soup, and you will love it, like I do.

Soondubu is one of my favorite Korean dishes so I was super excited when Kaju opened! I always order the seafood soondubu and the seafood pancake.

Service was good, but food was not. Ma po tofu had so much salt that it was not only inedible, but I also got an occasional crunch from the salt.
