So my wife won a contest, and one of the things she received was a dinner for two at the Buttersburg Inn. We live on Fort Detrick, so it was about a 30 minute drive to get there, but the roads were fun and I enjoyed the drive a lot! Once we arrived we were greeted by the owner (Jim) and he got us a table. This place is a CLASSIC small town restaurant, and I freaking loved it. The locals are there... kisses and hugs are exchanged... it was great. Anyway, I ordered the stuffed pork chop with mac-n-cheese, green beans and apple fritters (they were extra, but who cares). My wife ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. The pork chop was HUGE! The stuffing was very flavorful and the meat was not only from a local butcher, but perfectly cooked... fell right off the bone. The macaroni was the 2nd best I have ever had (and that is some serious praise coming from me) and the beans were good too. My wifes steak was very tasty with perfect breading, but I thought it was just a tiny bit thin. I really did not care that much though because it tasted great and the gravy was amazing! We had carrot cake and coconut cake for dessert, and that sealed the deal... I love this place!

From the moment I called to make the reservation, to the last bite of homemade warmed Jewish Apple cake alamode, the Buttersburg Inn hit it out of the ballpark!!! My taste buds delighted with a melt in your mouth stuffed pork chop, fresh green beans, homemade Harvard Beets & delicious chunky apple sauce! My friend enjoyed a delectable seafood platter of mouth watering flounder, MD crab cake, shrimp, cucumber salad & hand cut french fries! Even the decaf coffee had a robust fragrance & satisfying taste! You must experience their homemade desserts! The Jewish Apple Cake with its buttery sweet crunchy outer layer & chunky apples, is the best Ive ever tasted! Take fresh peaches, blueberries & apples, place them in the most flaky pie crust served warm and what do you have? The Buttersburg Inns famous 3 fruit pie with no sugar added! You owe it to yourselves to visit this charming place, with its warm heart & great staff! Best of all are the owners, Frank & Jim. Their hearts are bigger than their awesome menu! I cant wait to return!!!! $$

Home cooked exceptional food! If your looking for non-chain food, this is the place to go. It may be a bit out of town, but this is real food! Cooked by people that actually care and cook the food, not open a bag and microwave it. Whenever we can eat breakfast out, thats our place. The food is great, the people are great and the coffee never runs out. Dinners are a treat, I lust after the hot open roast beef platter or prime rib with real gravy. And the desserts, the bread pudding is off the charts. The owners are there and are exceptional people, this is a rare find of great food and great people.

This is one of our familys favorite restaurants. It has a very comfortable atmosphere and our evening always includes a visit from one, or both, of the owners...Jim and Frank. We love the corn fritters and crab cakes. Franks eggplant parmesan is as good as any that Ive ever had. If youre fortunate enough to dine there on certain weekends, try the fried rabbit and hog maw. Also...do yourself a favor and save room for dessert! Everything on the dessert board is delicious, but our favorite is the bread pudding.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. The staff is great and personable. The food is always cooked perfectly and comes out to the table in a timely manner. The everyday menu is filled with lots of home-cooked style meals, while the weekend and holiday menu feature creative entrees and sides. The owners are very involved and always welcome you with a smile and friendly conversation.

Ordered the country fried steak, pepper slaw and corn fritters, (Jewish peach cake for dessert). Pepper slaw was the best Ive had and the steak was perfectly breaded and fried. Best part, we went for my wifes birthday with our three moth old and our server and another took turns walking the baby around the restaurant. Great country food and family atmosphere.

In all of my travels I have never had better Prime Rib and friendly service. We were greeted the moment we walked in the door, Everything was clean and nice. The menu was remarkable and the prices were not bad, we have paid double at other places that were very over rated. You must stop by and meet these folks. You will enjoy every minute and every bite,

It was one of the worst restaurant dinners I have ever had. We had fried chicken. It was cooked in oil that was not hot enough and was totally sopping in grease. The chicken itself was bargain basement old and tough and tasted bad. The people were nice but we felt totally ripped off. I mean it was fried chicken. One of their supposed specialties.

The chicken was crunchy, moist and sliced well. The staff was nothing but kind and respectful. The mashed potatoes were hand mashed which is always good. The green beans seemed like heated out of the can but still they were OK. All in all a solid restaurant. I would definitely go here again. The atmosphere is that of a small home and is very quaint.

Pretty much the Platonic ideal of a country restaurant. The fried oysters were a little greasy last time I had them, but otherwise everything fried that I have had was perfect. Green beans and cucumber/onion salad are always great as sides. Chocolate silk pie is so good that I havent even gotten to the rest of the desserts yet.

I went here to try the stuffed pork chop, a favorite of mine from growing up in the Midwest. I was pretty disappointed by the meal. The meat and the dressing were bland as was the twice baked potato. I do think the mushroom gravy dressing was tasty though. I enjoyed the small town decor and all the servers were very friendly.

This is our go-to local restaurant, sort of like Cheers.. We eat there at least once a week. The food is all freshly prepared, down home cooking. I highly recommend their roast turkey dinner. Seriously good food. And desserts! All, save one, baked by co-owner Jim. They are almost impossible to resist.

Wow What a great place to eat! Great owners who always seem to find the time to thank you for coming! Very down home, just like eating with family! The desserts are to die for! I will go back over and over again! Lilian
