Strong points: Music is pretty much always great. It comes on around dinnertime usually. Its fitting for a night-time lounge sort of environment but generally never top 40s. Right now, there are some very cool top 40 remixes playing with a world/Middle-Eastern flare. Usually its very cool Middle-Eastern club music. 5/5 for music. Flavor selection is modest but not terrible. They have about 9 house-made flavors and about the same number of Starbuzz flavors. The house-made flavors are basic but good. 4/5 for flavors. I havent had a lot of the food, but most of what Ive gotten has been great. The cheaper lunchtime sort of options like sandwiches are meh and kind of small portions, but the more authentic options on the menu have all come out delicious and well plated. 4/5 for food. Atmosphere is night and day depending on whether you come at night or during the day. At night, its exactly what youd want, lively and just the right amount of dim lighting. They have 2 TVs outside, usually playing sporting events. Occasionally some of the regulars turn on a Playstation and play FIFA. During the day, its very quiet, so its good if you want to work or study with a hookah, but it sometimes has a sort of dreary vibe because the employees are just sort of bored and dont want to be there. Also, strong daylight creates a sort of greenish hue. Very mixed, but Ill give it 4/5 because theyre hitting the mark for peak business hours. Weaker Points: Smoking area is a covered patio with sliding windows. Its always a bit hot in the Summer and a bit cold in the Winter, but they have some area torches and have recently started experimenting with standalone air conditioners. I give the space 3/5. The service really depends on the day and the server, and its going to be a lot better during the evening when more people are around. I come a lot to work early in the day when its quiet, and there are usually only one or two servers then, so I tend to have to get their attention if I need something, but they are always prompt at that point. If youre a regular, they will definitely look out for you. Because of the variance, I give service 3/5. Shalal Kabob isnt the absolute best hookah place Ive been to but certainly decent. If youre looking for just hookah (not food) and want an indoor space, Abunawas is probably a better choice and nearby, but Shalal Kabob definitely stands on its own.

I went me and my friend yesterday .If there are less than one star i would give it ...food is not that quality ,not organized if u dont have space dont seat your guest at the bar to eat !!!! this is insane!!!!! expensive and the hospitality are sucks ,even we were accused that we did not pay our seats!! and left while we did 45.00$ for 2 guest and we showed them them the receipt ..this is total imperilment for guest and for them ,when some one stop my car to check the receipts ?!!! cars behind you trying to get out and you stock there .If they are more respectful and organized they wont be doing this to there guest ...dont worthy going to ...one other they put one person he is dividing the meats on plates ?? how you call that open buffet?!! ....I suggest they should check Golden golden corral open buffet Rest. to learn whats the meaning of open buffet ..you should have variety of food choices not 15 that what i counted there ..what a buffet !!!. first and last time will be there dont recommend it to any one .

Although the staff was friendly, the food is 6/10 in regard to the Iraqi cuisine of what I ordered which is Kabab and Tikka (it came first with 6 pieces of Tikka surrounded by white rice and Chennai masala - Indian chickpeas - that was totally a waste of arrangements), then one kabab. If I was a chef, I will make it as authentic Iraqi style; the restaurant have to reflect our cuisine in a good way. The salad was pale. I honestly didnt like it, but I was hungry. The bread is awesome, but still is more Indian Nan. The hookah is fine, not the best in town either. It might be not a good day to visit, but really they need to work hard on how to present the food. The other two Iraqi restaurants are better in term of presenting the food! I am sorry for such review, but talking in an honest way and hopefully they will do some changes!

Took my family of 5 to this restaurant late Christmas Eve because all the restaurants we like were closed. The waitress was terrible with zero skills, forgot one order which was delivered after everyone finished eating and to top it off meat was half cooked. Never checked on us if we needed water, silverware or anything. Food was not good at all. The bread was doughy. We all vowed never to return to this awful place. Our eyes burned the whole time from smoke of the burning grease which filled the whole atmosphere, our clothes stunk of burned grease smoke. Ohhhh And not to mention the added gratuity!!!as if the waitress actually served us!!!I would give 0 stars if I could. I dont understand how other people gave a positive rating!!

Fabulous flavors! The stuffed grape leaves were exceptionally delicious: herbs and flavored meat with rice in the correct proportions, six to the plate. If you are a light eater, it could be your main dish at lunch. I had the beef shwarma and my husband had the lamb kebob wrap; the Naan bread is made onsite and is authentically baked. The meats were amazingly seasoned and cut very small + cooked just right with tiny chopt lettuce, tomatoes and onion inside -- none of the large pieces, like those often found in gyros locally, where the big pieces fall out and a bite doesnt contain enough parts to get the total flavor. You wont be disappointed when you dine here!

Love the place. From a guy that comes from the Middle East and has a selective taste, this place certainly lived up to the reputation. Moe, one of the owners/server was beyond kind and helpful. Certainly gave us, and everyone else the proper attention and treatment. The place has two sections, indoor where its smookfree, and an outdoor section for hookahs. I highly recommend the place if youre looking for an authentic Iraqi food, and good hookahs and vibe! Happy customer, will certainly be coming back again.

Me and one of my really good friends came here to get food and hooka and the staff is super nice, and the hookah is AMAZING, BEST HOOKAH in Fairfax!! Very clean environment and very relaxing. Food was great! Its a place for family and also for young people they have a separate place for hookah and separate from restaurant for family. DEFFINETLY suggest this place for all ages!!

Ive been here twice. I order a chicken shwarma sandwich each time. The first time was a weekday lunch. It was delicious, juicy, flavorful, and even had tasty pickled vegetables. The second time, it was a weekend lunch, and the homemade wrap was burnt, the chicken was dry, overcooked, and burnt on the edges, and no pickled vegetables. Will the third time be the charm?
