My wife and I had walked past Red Star a few times and were intrigued. It seemed lively and had an attractive menu. We took our first meal there on a bit of a whim, to celebrate a special occasion that popped up. It was an error. The place was incredibly crowded and dreadfully understaffed. I had to fight like Hell to get six inches at the bar and order some drinks. After being seated (the worst table in the place, but somebody has to take it), we were utterly ignored by the staff. Our ostensible waiter complained that he was slammed, and proceeded to bus tables for half of our stay. *After* we were finished eating, the manager came by to apologize and "help out," and then inexplicably began to bus tables, herself. Our drinks arrived just after we finished our food. If youre looking for a loud bar in Fells with shoddy service, this place might be for you. If youre looking for a competently served meal, replete with food *and* beverages, try one of the myriad other establishments in the vicinity. Incidentally, I had noted the other reviews complaining of poor service, and chose to ignore them. But here I am right now, adding my two cents. Take that for what its worth.

Free super easy parking in Fells Point. (How often do you hear that?) As with many bars like this service can be hit or miss. Ive had a non-attentive waitress for dinner (it was busy - but still, were paying customers.) On the other hand, we had a great waiter for Saturday brunch - super helpful - knew the special - knew the dishes (answered a specific question about the "breakfast nachos"). The food is better than average - and they have some unique twists on "bar food". Excellent chicken sandwich! Most notably, the front desk hostess (I wish I knew her name - seems like she may be a manager) saved our experience once. We had 2 friends put in their name for an hour wait - they left to wait outside (in doing so apparently their name got taken off the list). We arrived at the hour mark to find this out - and another hour long wait. It was a miscommunication from both sides. However, the hostess found a table for us in 5 minutes. Great customer service - and the reason weve made sure to go back.

We had hoped to get here to try their brunch, but alas, we missed it by 30 minutes - likely due to the generally awful parking in this area mid-day on a Sunday, but I digress. When I checked in at 2:00, I was abruptly informed that the kitchen was closed until 2:30. My immediate thought was, "OK - so well sit and wait until 2:30?" - why not ask me if Id still like to be seated, knowing this? It IS a pub, after all...people DO come here to drink exclusively with no food at all... Alas, apparently this location doesnt like money (or, at least, our money). We sat at our table for 15 minutes, tolerating an obnoxiously loud group of people sitting behind us, while not a soul came up to take our drink order, much less bring any water. At that point, we had enough and went to one of the MANY other locations within walking distance, and had our drinks immediately served to us the moment we sat down. After all, that is what a location such as this is supposed to do, right?

What a cute place. Really love the ambiance and the high ceilings in the place. Almost makes you feel like you are in a log cabin. Came here for brunch on Saturday. PERFECT place for it. The had an abundance of choices. I had the breakfast burrito, which was really delicious. The burrito came with a potato medley, but I highly recommend trying the garlic fries instead. The place also offers all you can drink mimosa/screwdriver/bloody marys for $10!!! You really cant beat that. You arent restricted to the drink you initially order either, so if you order a bloody mary and decide you want a mimosa next, not a problem! The bloody marys were a little on the spicy side when we went, but still good. Had a great experience.

Although we had a wait, the host team was very good about keeping us updated, they were also spot on with their estimate of how long we had to wait. The food was totally worth the wait! I had the buffalo chicken wrap and it had a great kick. The chicken was tender and the garlic fries were perfect in that you could taste the garlic but also the fries. My husband had the fish sliders and he said the cole slaw was very good and the fish was flaky and moist. Wait staff was friendly and attentive even though the whole space was packed. Enjoyed and would go back if we were in the area again.

I do NOT recommend this place. It came recommended as a place to hold a party but the person in charge of the Large party accomidations and reservations, Jennifer, was horrible and completely unprofessional. It takes a month to hear from her and that includes you calling the bar and insisting she call you (which she didnt call, she emailed). She also reserved a time for us only to email later that it is no longer available. I cant imagine eating at a place where the staff doesnt take their job seriously.

Great atmosphere, OK food. I had the Cobb salad. I personally prefer some Iceberg lettuce in my Cobb (I know, I know,...). But this was all "bushes". He didnt ask what kind of dressing and Im not sure it had any. The blue cheese crumbles were tasty and the avocado was fresh and tasty. My friends enjoyed their ribeye and burger. The ribeye was "moist" but Im not sure what he meant by that. A little slack on the service... I couldve used a refill on my water and had to flag him down to pay the bill.

I enjoyed Red Star despite the service being pretty slow in the beginning. Fantastic beer list, great atmosphere, some tvs above the bar but not too much of a sports bar vibe. I went with the prosciutto flat bread pizza and it was delicious. Very filling too. As I mentioned service was slow, but it was a rainy Saturday morning so they were pretty busy with the brunch crowd. This is definitely a lower key option to some of the spots in Fells Point.

I have consistently been thrilled by the food at Red Star. I admit, the "scene" isnt quite my thing, as Im not trying to pick up any of the 20-somethings who seem to gravitate here, but thats no reason to miss out on the gorgeous setting, fabulous beer selection, and outstanding food. Really, the food is remarkable. And isnt that what matters most? Then again, if you are looking to pick up a 20-something, this place might just be heaven for you.

It was okay. Ive been here a couple times and the service has always been alright, but not great. And the same can be said for the food. The pizza I got last time was pretty bland...and probably not worth ten dollars when I couldve gone to a pizzeria and gotten a real one a few blocks away for not much more. So I wouldnt recommend that...but a decent beer selection and never super uncomfortably crowded on the weekend.

Excellent nightlife spot and restaurant on the eastern end of Fells Points main drag, Thames Street. Red Star sports a solid bar with a wide selection of drinks, not to mention some fine specialty cocktails. The menu is extensive, and there are some clear winners, but the wiltiness of the fries is a concern. Also, the place is a little loud and a little dark, so its better for crowds, not intimate dinners.
