Havent been in years and probably wont go back. The staff were less than helpful and seemed very unhappy, like they didnt want to be there. First we were told there was 30 minute wait when it was nearly empty (as you can see from my photos). So we sat at the bar and had a cocktail which was fine and fairly priced. The problem was that people came in and were seated before us and the then the hostess approached us and said the wait list was now 40 and asked us if will still wanted to stay. I reminded her we were on the wait list at that time and pointed out that others were seated before us. Magically we were immediately seated. After being seated, it took another 5-10 minutes for a waitress to acknowledge us and take drink orders and seemed surprised we were ready to order. The food came quickly enough after that. The food itself was ok, and fairly priced. Nothing to write home about. The biggest thing though was the unwelcoming vibe and attitude from all the staff. If I didnt know better, I think the management must go by the pirate way of "the beatings will continue until moral improves."

Very dissappointed... I have never had a cold biscuit sandwich. The ham and the biscuit were refrigerator cold. I asked, if this is how they make it...it is. The biscuit could not be picked up, its a sandwich. It was supposed to come with a wild berry jam. The jam came family style for the table. I had to order more for my meal. My girlfriend did a bacon add to her omelet, $4 upcharge for two very thin slices of bacon on the side. Mimosas were good, but $10 each for a normal $4 sized one you get on the weekend anywhere else. Lastly, they only serve brunch on sunday. The largest farmers market in the region is on their sidewalk on Saturday and they close for an hour right in the middle. Very poor business choice. Overall, the flavor of the food was good, they hide the prices well and the cooks need to look into execution. We watched 2 scrambled eggs go back. And cold biscuit sandwiches are not very good. We wont come back. $75 For 2 for breakfast is a $$$ hot breakfast restaurant not a $$ cold sandwich.

DONT DO IT - This place is horrible. We recently ended up here on a hot afternoon when the pub next door had a 30-minute wait for tables. The Trellis was more than half empty, hmmm... We sat down and ordered food and drinks. The burger was cooked way past the medium that we ordered. Fries are cooked too long, more like shoestring potatoes when they are all dried out like that. But the onion tart was truly an abomination unto the lord. A bunch of crappy alfredo sauce poured into a pre-formed tart shell and browned in the oven with some onions on top. They forgot the prosciutto which was supposed to be in the tart, and when we complained they just brought us two small pieces on a plate without much of an apology. As we struggled to get out the double doors with a stroller, multiple bags and a toddler walking along, two hostesses and a waitress stood at the front desk chatting and no one offered to even open a door or hold it for us. We will never spend our good money in this dump again.

My boyfriend and I were staying in Williamsburg for the evening and after traipsing around Colonial Williamsburg for the day in 100 degree weather it is safe to say that we were very thirsty. We stopped in to the trellis restaurant for a quick lunch. We asked our waitress for water, which once brought out was so warm that we thought it might have been from the toilet. We quickly asked for a glass of ice, which took roughly 30 minutes to get back to the table. We both ordered the farm fresh eggs with sounded delightful with all the surrounding Farms in town. All we received was a tiny portion of cold of egg and a rubber sausage that tasted like a tire. Our drinks came over and the bartender must have forgot to shake or stir them because the flavor was all the way at the bottom. A delightful treat on your last sip. We would say that if you were going to visit Williamsburg you should perhaps find another place to cool off or at least skip the tire sandwich.

I took a couple of friends who were on their first visit to Williamsburg down to Merchant Square and we decided to lunch at The Trellis. Although I have lived here for 15 years I have only been to The Trellis a handful of times. I will never go back. One of my guests ordered a sandwich and simply wanted it without onion. The chef refused. He said that the sandwiches are made ahead of time in the morning and the onion couldnt be removed. Seriously? At a restaurant like The Trellis: (1) you would hope that your sandwich would be made to order and if not (2) the top slice of bread could be lifted and the onion removed without it being a stretch for the kitchen staff. Also, I had a diet coke to drink. The waitress (who was very nice and apologetic) brought me a glass of ice and a can...no big deal. But when I asked for a refill I was told that I would have to pay for it. Absolutely ridiculous visit all the way around.

Poor. Chicken Cesar salad was just a large bowl of dry lettuce with 2 cherry tomatoes, a few( about 1/4 cup) tiny chicken cubes like you find in canned chicken noodle soup, barely there grated Parmesan cheese and two thin red onion rings. There was a tiny bowl of about a tablespoon of dressing on the side, no croutons and no bread served with the lettuce. We asked for more dressing and cheese and got another tablespoon of each. When we complained about the poor excuse for a chicken Cesar salad the waitress appologized, left and returned with the bill. The bowl of lettuce and small mimosa cost $21.00. The waitress made no effort to offer something else or adjust the bill. My 2 star rating was better then it deserved. We live in Williamsburg and have been to the trellis before. What happened? If this is cutting corners to save a dime you might as well close the place.

My family and I ate here for New Years Eve & we loved it. The service was spot-on, we were seated immediately (with reservations, of course) and we found the wine list just fine. Our server was exceptionally attentive and knew the menu up one side and down the other. We had: shrimp & grits, lobster bisque & sea scallop appetizer, pan-seared cobia with purple sticky rice & asparagus, top sirloin, barramundi with buttered leeks and the pork shank osso buco. The fish dishes were good, though the cobia has a chimichurri sauce that is INSANELY spicy, so beware. The sirloin had a fig demi-glaze that was delicious, but far and away the osso buco was the best. THE BEST. Served with sweet potato puree and brussel sprouts. Not to be missed! Had the Death by Chocolate for dessert and highly recommend it if you split it - we split 6 ways and it was perfect. Will definitely go back!
