I visit Dogfish Bar and Grille weekly for trivia with friends. Its one of my favorite places in town to stop into and hang out for a bit with a beer, chat either inside or out on the deck, or relax after work. The staff is one of the friendliest groups of people Ive met at any restaurant in town, and my be *the* friendliest from my experiences. Beer rotates frequently and they get some great ones on tap at a near-constant pace. The wine list is curated to fit a low to medium price budget as well and has had some standouts (Im not really a wine guy). For food, they specialize in pub-styled snacks like the pretzels (which are great), nachos, sandwiches and burgers, but the entrees, while few, rotate and are delicious. If you can run into the meatloaf during the winter (not sure if thats on the menu for the summer), you should get it. And even more so for the turkey pot pie soup. That stuff is what dreams are made of. Not to mention they have a mug club with specials on certain days for cheap pours of certain beers. I dont remember how much it is, but its a great deal for someone like me who goes once a week.

I had to change my write up, I have been going to the dogfish on Congress down by the greyhound station for years, and in the past six months its been horrible every time I go...Tonight was the last straw...The bacon wasnt cooked and was low grade and mostly fat....the burger wasnt cooked more than ten seconds and ive been on the toilet since i got home...my girlfriend isnt feeling good either...I used to eat there twice a week, then within the past six months ive been going maybe once every two weeks....Ill never eat there again...fire your cook...if you do the math, you lost about $3500-5000 per year from me alone...Ted, if youre listening, really slap or fire your cook, hes ruining your business...youd recognize me as a regular if you saw me..

Hey, dont get me wrong, Ive been eating at the DogFish Cafe for years now. 4 weeks ago me and my girlfriend went there (DogFish bar and Grill) and had burgers, and later that evening had food poisoning which lasted a couple days...not fun. A week later a couple friends went and had the same problem. This past Sunday (March 14th) a co-worker and his friends went, guess who missed work? Theyre sick from food poisoning. There is no e-mail to the management to tell them about it. Id call but who is going to answer? If I talk to the wrong person then there will be no fix so Im writing this in hopes the crew sees it and cleans up the kitchen. Id really like to go back.

Ive been to almost every restaurant in Portland and when I cant decide where to go I always end up at the Dogfish. The atmosphere is nice and the food is awesome. The venison chill can sometimes be way to spicy and often you have a hard time finding a seat at the bar and there can sometimes be a long wait for a table. Its worth it. The wait staff and bar staff are some of the best in Portland. Their menu might be small but all of it is good and personally I like a small menu, its easier to pick something and if you eat there enough you can try everything they have to offer. They also have some really great specials.

Free Street Sandwich. Dogfishs main attraction. Its fantastic. Dogfish is a great spot for trivia, food or drinks. Small but fun atmosphere, and great outdoor deck seating if you can snag it. Great live music too. My one issue with Dogfish is their lack of french fries. Really? No fries? Im pretty sure thats more of a standard issue than silverware in a restaurant.

This is an awesome place and totally worth the walk up the hill from the main beat. The Dogfish Bar and Grille was unique with atmosphere, crowd and fantastic music. I would highly recommend it. Prices were great as well. Staff very friendly and witty too.

Nice bar, that has a somewhat small but tasty menu. Try the bison chili. Great happy hour specials, that change every night, live music nightly, and Wednesday night open mike. Outside seating on second floor, front and back of the building.

Wonderful little bar. My wife and I came upon this place by accident. We were trying to walk back in the direction of our hotel and made a wrong turn. We decided to pop in for a beer and ended up staying until they closed.

Small menu, but great food. Beer selection is good, great live music. However....If you go there expecting mango chutney on your Caribbean jerked chicken, BE WARNED, they didnt have any last time I was there.

Visited back in February. The meatloaf was awesome, and made the long wait for a table worth it. The live music was pretty good. Hoping to get time to visit it again when I am there this weekend.

There is always a hard cider on tap. Currently its Downeast! Generally a smaller and more intimate place to hang out. Consistently good musicians and open mic nights.
