First time to Portland and we were looking for a nice somewhat upper scale place for a nice dinner. We heard Dimillos (spelling?) was a tourist trap and extremely overpriced so we tried here which is right down the street. My gf and I are from Boston and we go out to eat a lot. With that said, I would put the dinner I had here up there with the best Ive had. We started with the mussels. Those were the best Ive had. So fresh and the garlic broth they were in was phenomenal. We then had shrimp cocktail and that was also the best Ive had. Extremely fresh, cooked and chilled perfectly with excellent cocktail sauce. Then we had our meals. My gf got the NY Strip. Cooked perfectly, tasted great and was paired with string fries. I had the lobster pasta. Id have to say it was one of the top 3 seafood pasta dishes Ive ever had. They give you the entire amount of a lobster worth of meat. Full tail, both claws, and knuckle meat. Again, the freshest seafood on the planet. The lobster sherry sauce it was in was perfect and the pasta was great too. All in all, it truly was one of the best meals Ive ever had. Only issue - Beware of using their online (on their own website) menu. Its not entirely accurate and the waitress said its a "sample". Im not sure what that means because it didnt line up with what they had on the menu youre given at the restaurant and Im not sure why a sample menu would be a good idea if youre going to get people excited with whats online and then not have it when they get there. But either way, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and would put it as my top choice from the 5-6 dinners we had while visiting. Other important aspects that people might wonder about...staff was professional and very friendly and the restaurant itself was super clean, very elegant, and had a great vibe. Awesome fish tank too! Great place, absolutely worth your time and money! Highly recommended.

Last night, after driving 10 hours from Ontario, my friend and I arrived at Hilton Garden Inn. We arranged to meet with two of my sons who happened to be in Portland last evening. We wanted to eat dinner somewhere near the hotel. We saw that the Old Port Sea Grill, 93 Commercial St. was not crowded. In fact, the dining room was empty. But when we went in, the hostess directed us up the stairs to the bar area. We went there and perched on high stools at a small table just beside the stairs and across from the bar. Service was slow but we finally did get menus and a very small bowl of little pieces of bread - no butter. Then people began arriving just behind us. Each newcomer was greeted by those already at the bar with VERY LOUD whoops of joy, great hugging, slapping on the back, jostling around, VERY LOUD LAUGHTER, etc. Finally, there were probably 25 people packed into the tiny area beside us at the bar. Im sure the fire Marshall would have closed the restaurant if he had arrived on the scene. Our wait person had a very difficult time getting to our table. She never did clear away the bread bowl and small plates. It was difficult to swallow food in such an atmosphere and more or less hopeless trying to have a conversation. We left the better part of our meal on the table. I am very sad that I didnt have a chance to talk with my sons. I dont see them often and we had arranged this little rendezvous especially so we could have a nice, quiet meal together and catch up on news. When I paid the bill, $161.64, a felt even more unhappiness. If Im going to pay $7 for a scoop of mashed potatoes and $35 for a small piece of swordfish, I expect at least a pleasant atmosphere and good service. Last night, I got neither.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. ITS BETTER TO WAIT IN LINE AT ONE OF THE AMAZING RESTAURANTS THAT ARE IN THE AREA. We had a terrible experience during our visit to the restaurant. It was our first visit to Portland, and for only a few hours, but we spent an hour and a half at the restaurant. This was due to the fact that our food took over an hour to reach our table. When we walked in, half of the restaurant was empty, and it was pretty quiet the entire time. People who came after us, left before us, and they had ordered similar items. It took half an hour to get our appetizers. When it was time to get our food, the manager brought it out and was rude. He told us that it takes time for the food to cook. Then he came back and said he would cover our beers. We ordered a lot of food, and we didnt care for his beers. He asked what he can do for us after that. If hes the manager, then he should know how to deal with situations like that. We werent out to get free stuff, we wanted good food and never expected to wait so long. A lot of time wasted and the waitress was always rude and never apologized for the lateness. I have never met such rude wait staff, who tried to cover up the restaurants errors. This restaurant was a time killer. Ruined our entire day.

The staff greet you with a smile and are very happy to serve! We had a reservation but arrived 30 minutes early and they were able to sit us with no problems. We were here for a valentines day meal and the atmosphere was perfect! Not too quiet and not too loud, we were able to talk at normal levels while not feeling like our table neighbors heard every word. We started with Creole Haddock and Roasted Corn Cakes. There were 2 cakes perfect size to tide us over till the meal came out. They also served 4 fresh roles that we simply amazing. In perfect timing our main course came out, I ordered wood grilled salmon with the cajun seasoning and mashed potatoes and fresh steamed veggies on the side. The portions were perfect and the meal was wonderful. My wife ordered Idaho Trouth with Parmesan cheese. It was a little strong but still delightful. Both meals were fresh and very juicy. I cannot say enough about the experience we had there and would recommend The Old Port Sea Grill to anyone for any event, especially romantic ones!

I went there for my birthday expecting a faboulas dinner due to the fancy atmosphere and a menu that was on the more pricey side. The waitress had no personality and my date went the whole dinner with an empty soda glass. I ordered a lobster roll which did have a substantial amount of lobster meat however there was little to no mayonase, causing me to have to ask for more on the side. Im glad I went there once to try it, but I will not be back for another visit.

I was traveling with my two younger sisters and this was our first time in Portland. We were looking for some real Maine lobster and this was definitley the place for it. The restaurant was very nice, the staff were welcoming, and the service was good. We ordered a couple of appetizers and the lobster. Everything was great! The lobster was a bit pricey, but we figured were on vacation, why not? I would definitley recommend this place to others!
