We went to Sea Dog in Bangor last night. The nachos were very good. The entries were horrible! My wife had the fish and chips and she was sick within an hour after eating them until 11 this morning. I had the pub burger. Unless the cheese was supposed to be black they burned the hell out of the cheese. You could not even tell there was cheese on the burger. I didnt even finish my burger it was so gross. I ate half of it. This meal cost us $40. We should have gone to Subway for $15. The service was excellent. The time before this time the service was horrible. Our waitress brought our food and we didnt see her for 45 minutes until I tracked her down for our check. We were out of beverages after our appetizer and she never brought more. She never checked on us. We are actually very easy people to please. We just want decent food and decent service. Nothing over the top. These 2 times are the only 2 times I have EVER complained about service/food at a restaurant. Even if this arent perfect we understand.

Stick with the beer and basic appetizers and youll be fine. However, if you want a good meal, prepared with care, then this isnt the place to try. The lobster bisque and clam chowder were both served barely lukewarm. The flavor of the bisque was good, however, the clam chowder had way too few clams. The Seared Brussels Sprout salad got good reviews, but Im not sure why. Salty, salty, salty AND the Brussel sprouts were too big and under cooked. If the chef had only cut them in half and seared them it might have made them more edible. And then to add insult to injury the rest of the salad was DRENCHED in a salty soy sauce vinaigrette which ruined it. A gallon of water wouldnt have been enough to quench your thirst. I left more than half of the salad on my plate floating in its soy bath. Oh, and the lobster roll was just meh. Bun wasnt toasted and the filling was tough. Bummer of a meal.

My wife & I attended a birthday celebration for a family friend in their banquet room. Was a very nice setup with plenty of tables covered with white tablecloths, cloth napkins & silverware, a picher of ice water with stem glasses on each table. A pay as you go bar was provided. A catered buffet was also provided, which was very delicious, with many choices, with hot & cold foods & veggies. The wait staff was very polite & accommodating to our needs. The one drawback, was the a/c was too cold, where several in our group complained of being cold. Parking was limited as the Bangor Folk Festival was ongoing thru the evening, but it didnt hinder anyone from attending or dropping in.

So I want to preface this by saying Ive had good experiences here before, including after my wedding, but July 4, 2016 was just a bad time. Three parties were sat before we were, despite our being name being taken first, and legitimately 80% of the indoor tables being clean and empty. Our server was polite, and the food came fast and was tasty, but we were overcharged for two beers and the waitress ordered brought me an order of chicken fingers I assumed was a small, only to find out on my check that they were a large... And $18. Yikes. Also, the kids hot dog was brownish-gray and tasted like a stake breakfast sausage. A tough holiday experience that will stick.

Had a large dinner for our Forest Resources Association dinner in their conference room then hit the whiskey watching Thursday Night Football until late. Atmosphere, cool old pics on the wall, crowd watching, and selection of beers and liquors get this place a 5 star. Slightly overcooked lobster, slow bartenders (in the conference room, not the bar), and our inability to get a waitress for 10 guys spending a couple hundred bucks and watching football get this place a 3 star. I am still headed back there this afternoon to watch football and drink beer... John K. Northey Port Ludlow, Washington

We sat on the outside deck and loved the view. Corey and Jason- the bartenders were personable and made great suggestions! I was very impressed with the food selections. They were much better than I thought they would be for a brewing company! My first visit we had the crab rangoon skillet dip which was awesome! I had a salad with quinoa, cabbage, Thai style dressing and lots of veggies. It was very good. A week later I was back in town and we decided to go to the Sea Dog again! We had pan blackened haddock tacos which were amazing! They do not skimp on the haddock.

We are from out of state and stopped by the Bangor location to have some good sea food- we waited about twenty minutes for a server to arrive, we ordered two beers and the server asked to see our IDs , they of course were from out of state - she took the IDs to her manager to double check them (?) and returned stating that they were only taking Maine IDs right now. Is this illegal? We were on a vacation and couldnt even enjoy a beer with our meal. We would have spent over $100 eating here but instead left to go somewhere else .

Fabulous experience! Being from Pittsburgh and traveling to Bangor for the first time I was very pleased to have had lunch here. Our server Neal was outstanding. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and the best personality. They not only had gluten-free options but an entire dedicated menu. The blackened haddock sandwich was so delicious including the gluten-free bun. The best part is I did not get sick after the meal. The atmosphere is super fun with a great water view. If in Bangor this place is a must.

Service, food, beverages! This place is awesome. It was a great start to the concert night at Darlings Waterfront Pavilion. I tried 6 of their own brews and was never disappointed with any of them. The blackened haddock sandwich was cooked to perfection. They werent supposed to give a slushy blended drink but since the bartender told my wife "If they ask, tell them you gave birth to me!" we were able to get a coupe of pina coladas for the ladies. I will be back everytime I go to Bangor.

My family and I went to Sea Dog Brewing Co. for the first time on June 4th. We now have a new favorite restaurant! We loved the decor inside and the view outside, the wait staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious from first bite of the appetizer to the last bite of the sweet dessert!! My family and I joke about us having "heightened taste buds", but we just enjoy quality food! Thank you for a wonderful evening! :-)

The beer was good. We were seated waited waited. Looked at the menu to find purely pub food. Seafood was out of the question. No scallops on the menu. Out of lobster calamari and muscles. Left with empty bellies and very poor service. Only ordered drinks and had to get up to get our check of 7.96. The waitress handed us back the 2 dollars and said "sorry I didnt have the 4 pennies." will not be returning.

Friendly, if not terribly responsive service. The chowder is exceptional, the crab cakes less so (but still quite good), the pan-seared haddock perfectly cooked, but the salad greens on which it was served slightly wilted. Very tight, smart selection of down east brews. Id go again, but will try other options in downtown Bangor first when next in the area.
