This is the first time I have been to this location (I often visit their location in Las Vegas). The building sits along the ferry terminal, with an upstairs dining room overlooking the water-really a beautiful view. Downstairs, the bar area is a bit smaller, but nice and cozy. We a had a few beers downstairs, along with some bacon, cheddar and green onion fries, and some wings. While I was just expecting regular pub grub, I was quite impressed how good everything was, particularly the fries. After a few beers, we moved upstairs and sat at the bar. Our bartender Evan, was a witty and funny guy, who is originally from Ireland. He is very fast behind the bar, and it was entertaining watching him handle the ever increasing crowd, without missing a step. After a few more beers (Evan never lets your glass sit empty!) we decided to order dinner, and had the Publicans Rueben and the Lobster mac and cheese. The Rueben was delicious as always, and the lobster mac and cheese was simply amazing. I could have eaten a few servings of this! I really enjoyed visiting this location, and cant wait to come back

Finally made it to this local restaurant/pub. Having been in Ireland and all over the UK and being a Celt, I am fussy about how my Guinness is poured - they draw a fine pint!! Then I decided to have Shepherds Pie since I miss the dish made the traditional way -- I was not disappointed!! Fabulous...including the masheds being done with a piping bag!! My friend had a salad with granny smith apples, grapes and goat cheese and it was as beautifully prepared and served as it would have been in any haute cuisine restaurant, anywhere. The upstairs back room faces on the harbor and between the way things are decorated, the very attentive staff - and the food (including well done bread like youd find in UK) - the place gets 5 stars from me since I long ago, gave up on the posh pretentious kinds of places.

The first two beers i asked for were tapped and i was told the local beers were gone, which was the first two i asked for. The drinks me and my girlfriend ordered were left on the bar for 15 mins before they made their way to us. Waitress seemed like she was in a rush even though it didnt look busy. Food was good, had the burger and my girlfriend had lobster tacos, came with only two but were good. Waitress only came by once, two minutes after giving us the food, to ask if we needed anything and that was it until we asked for the check. This was a Monday night. One of the things that annoyed me is the bathroom, might be trivial, the soap dispenser was broken, and no soap was in it. I hate that crap, especially if the staff uses that bathroom to wash up, which probably isnt the case.

The food was fantastic but the service was terrible! My buddy ordered the Breakfast Poutine and I ordered the Smoked Salmon & Avocado Smash. Surprisingly, the food was as good as any brunch Ive had in Portland but thats where the good time ended. There was no one there to greet us, we had to sit down at a dirty table, our waiter was not on his game (I had to wave another server down to get him to come back to our table), and then he got the drink order wrong. I hesitated calling to provide some feedback but I thought, eh, why not? I spoke to a "manager" who said he would pass it on to a "manager." Like I said, the food was 4 Star and the service was 1 Star. Ill give it another go but the service has to improve to be considered. UPDATE: Never heard back. Surprise! Ill find another spot.

Not a unique local, but can be found in several other cities, this Rí Rá in Portland, Maine is a great place for lunch, Dinner or late night with its very warm and inviting Irish pub feel. The menu is full of great food including some great Irish specialties like their Cottage Pie made with Braised beef short rib, Guinness brown gravy, peas & carrots, and topped with mashed potatoes and a Pineland cheddar crust - Its so good! Other Irish specialties include their Bangers & Mash and Fish & Chips. If you cant get out until late in the evening the bar offers a great selection of craft beers and libations and some wonderful late night edibles like Poutine with Pork Belly & Pickles, or the Falafel Bites with chips. I keep coming back to this place!

Graham, Jayne, Max, and our dinner were OUTSTANDING! Max was knocking-it-out while hosting and helping wait staff clear tables. Graham and Jayne were above-and-beyond with their service. We asked to be seated oitside which was accomodated but then it rained. The whole team was quick and efficient at getting all of the outside guests seated inside, and did it cheerfully in the midst of busy weekend chaos. The vegetable paella, the swordfish, and the lobster eggrolls were all fantastic. All in all, a great night for a couple of cacationing Floridians. Manager Matt also spoke with us for a few minutes and was as friendly and outgoing as the rest of the staff. Highly recommend!

Great bartenders and drinks. Music was good and being able to go into the side pub area away from the worst of the noise was great. Very cozy. We ate in the bar area and the food was wonderful. The baby kale Caesar with chicken was great! I loved the tiny fired mashed potato "croutons" and the chicken was well seasoned and tasty. I liked the twist of the baby kale. We also have the potato cakes app, the spinach dip app, and the cottage pie. All the portions were big and filling. Both the apps were wonderful, tasty and unpretentious. My friends cottage pie was huge and she couldnt finish it but she tried! We are going back again this weekend. Hope Kelly is there!

My wife and I stopped in for a quick lunch. Started with a Smithwicks and mussels for apps. The mussels beards were not trimmed and they smelled rancid. Sent them back untouched. For lunch I ordered their cornbeef reuben with hand cut chips. My wife had the crabmeat dip. It took the kitchen twenty five minutes to get our order out and there were only ten or so other patrons. The dip and reuben were very good but the chips were stone cold and appeared to be the dregs left over before dropping a new batch into the fryer. To their credit the manager did apologize and offered to comp us. We frequent the Portsmouth location often and have never had a bad meal there.

Walked in at 5:15 on Monday, 8-21-17. Bar was almost full, but only two tables in the place were filled. Sign said Please Wait to Be Seated. Stood there for 5 minutes, no one came, so we seated ourselves. Bartender looked right at us, and continued talking to his patrons. Didnt alert any waitstaff that a new table sat down. We waited 10 minutes, then got up and left. As we were leaving, one of the tables was looking particularly pissed. Apparently they had been waiting for their check for over 15 minutes. They said the food was great, but service was terrible and slow. No thanks. There are PLENTY of other places in Portland to get a good meal.
