Myself and a friend from work went there Thursday June 22 about 1pm.. Got our boats down and was about to walk down to leave them, pay the kayak rental to put them in and go have a drink.. Our plan was to have a beer then kayak come back and eat and maybe another drink or two.. One of Darkstars employees came out in a shoulder brace and told us if we had our own boats we couldnt park there without patronizing Darkstar.. I explained to him that was our plan and he said "thats what all the kayakers say then they park for 4 hours and never do so you cant park there" I looked around the parking lot and there were literally 3 cars in the parking lot. I said "looks like yall are real busy on a Thursday at 1pm and everyone is fighting for a space" and laughed. He accused me of being rude again telling me I couldnt park there at all, I had to park somewhere else. My last tab at Darkstar was $68.00 in early June. I will never ever go there again. Plus you embarrassed me in front of a friend I had just been raving about what great food, service and how everyone was so friendly.. I would rather pay the $10 at CQ or brave the mud at the park. I understand if it was a weekend (which is why we always went kayaking during the week in the afternoon) or there were expecting a crowd but as we were leaving, after patronizing Cunninghams and CQ instead, they literally had 5 cars in their lot. The little girl that works at the kayak rental was very apologetic and offered to launch our kayaks for free if I could find somewhere to park. I couldnt find anywhere that didnt have a sign so we loaded up and went to Captains Quarters. We can call Cunninghams at 228-Dock and they will bring food to you on the dock and you dont even have to get out.. Darkstar just lost regular customers.. We, my husband and I, are usually patrons all summer long at least once a week and recommends to others.. He loved watching live music, having some food and drinks after a kayaking trip. We used to go to Darkstar when it was on Frankfort Avenue. We have dropped a lot of money in there over the years and went at least once a week in the summer, had some drinks, kayaked, came back to meet friends, eat and have a couple cocktails. We will take our business elsewhere.. I sent Darkstar a fb message and posted my experience on their wall with no reply. Honestly, we would probably be there right now with 4-5 more people spending money but you humiliated me in front of a friend from work on her very first visit after I spent the car ride telling her how great it was. Nice job running customers off because she said she would never come back after that. Darkstar must have new owners or management, I have never had this issue before now because we were always welcomed with open arms due to the fact we spend money and tip well. We will wave at you in our kayaks from Cunninghams on second thought no we wont, we will pretend you dont exist.

Food is good, service is good but the place wreaks of cigarette smoke and is so loud with music over their sterio that it gives me a headache. If you are a young, bar person who smokes and doesnt mind extremely loud music then you can enjoy good food and good service.
