I heartily recommend 5 de Mayo to anyone who wants to enjoy a typical Mexican meal (not Tex Mex) and feel like youre in Mexico, even if for a little while! My 5 de Mayo special was served piping hot by a very quick, efficient, friendly Mexican server. It was an abundant serving of chicken, jumbo shrimp, steak, green peppers, and rice with Mexican seasonings - not too spicy for the average American palate at all. My cantarito went with this dish perfectly. Whats a cantarito? Id never had this drink in any other Mexican restaurant in the U.S. before. Its a delicious blend of orange and pineapple juices, lemon, salt, and, of course, tequila! But maybe the best part was the glazed terra cotta glass it was served in. There was so much food that I took about a third home. But I couldnt pass up the fried ice cream (I saw a server walk by with one) - it was drizzled with chocolate and honey and topped with coconut, raisins, whipped cream, and a cherry - it tasted like homemade ice cream! Never had had such yummy fried ice cream. Enjoying this traditional Mexican food and drink in a typical Mexican atmosphere with terra cotta tile and painted wall murals of Mexican scenes brought back memories of my over ten years living in Mexico.

Honestly, I loved the food in the beginning. I loved the service. I loved the simple atmosphere. They were on course for a great thing, but the last few times Ive been there things have gone drastically down hill. The last visit took the cake. I never plan on putting a single red cent towards their bills again. The waitress was incredibly rude. She didnt answer any questions. She rolled her eyes when people changed their minds while ordering. She rolled them again when collecting the menus. We told the manager of our unpleasant experience, and she had the audacity to laugh in our faces while we stood their talking to the manger. What did he do? Nothing.. He did nothing. He stood their and watched her laugh. What a disgrace. Shame on you Cinco De Mayo. You could have been great, but you let it all go.

Worst service I have ever experienced. The self- proclaimed "manager", Alondra, was extremely rude and had a very bad attitude. She is very disrespectful to her customers and I will never go here again nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone! She lied to us, made us wait for at least twenty minutes just to try to pay, would not apologize for the fact that her system wasnt working. She acted as if it was our fault that she could not do her job. I told her I will withdraw cash and be back to pay since she doesnt know how to process a credit card and she chased me out of the building like a gorilla in heat. FYI- I did come right back to pay. The self proclaimed manager was nowhere in sight.

I had bad experience at 5 de mayo restaurant. The waiter mixed up plates. Then we returned came back again and still wrong amd wanted to charge for another plate of food. Tuve mala experiencia en el restaurante 5 de mayo. El camarero confundieron con placas. Después volvimos volvimos otra vez y todavía mal y quería cobrar por otro plato de comida.

Is there new owners? Did thy remember us from past years and one of us did not tip??? I Wonder why things seem different this time....the past 3 years my daughter and her cousin has chose here for there dinner ..they always have got bday desert and Sombrero while we all sing happy bday..... well this year NOT THE SAME...COULDNT TELL IT WAS ANY CELEBRATION at our table was disappointed 1st because my daughter spoke highly of this day to her boyfriend ( 1st ever) ÷) and she was so excited for him to see .. never brought hats out nor sang to them.. although there was a guy serenading a table for over 45 minutes it was cute but somewhat got annoying...

I normally dont do a review if its lower than a 3 but I have to with this place. 1, most of the photos for this place are stock photos not what the food truly looks like. 2, the food had no flavor was dry and I swear everything is cooked way in advanced and just slapped on a hot plate. 3, the place was a disaster. If a health inspector walked in right now he/she would close it. Floor was so slick we had to shuffle to get the rest room and one of the 2 toilets was full of BM. 2 of us ran to the rest rooms because the food made us sick. 4, service was terrible. There it is, all 4 stars. Food,service,atmospher, cleanliness.

Wanted to try something different. And picked the right place! I picked one of the new platters called the carne delgodo and it was amazing! I highly recomend coming here. Only reason why i put serice was only good was because we were greeted by a young girl that didnt seem to know what was what. But overall very good!

Great spot. I wasnt sure what to get but the table next to me got a fajita plate (served hot at the table) and it smelled so good I had to have it. Chicken, beef, shrimp and pineapple, well-seasoned and good sides. Also the chips were fresh and they brought me spicier salsa when I asked for it, which was awesome.

I love this place they are really well priced and have one of the best menus around. Me and my wife go multiple times a week. The menu has lots of things that you cant find on menus at other Mexican restaurants and you should really try it we usually spend $25 including tip

The food was ok. We were sitting close to the kitchen area and I saw one of the waitresses scratch her hair and touch someones tomato and then put it back on the plate and went to give it to the customer. I lost my appetite after that and will never go there again.

Usually a good place to eat. Service not so good tonight Kasandra was not concerned about the happiness of the guest or if we even liked our food. What waitress does not ask how the food was. Dont know if we will be back. Service hurt the quality of the food.

Great food, but service was to be desired. It was 4:30pm. Waitress must have been new. Never checked back on us. Would have had another Margarita, but she ever asked. I will be back, but not at this time of day. ..lost money... bad news...

It was amazing tonight ! The salsa was out of this world, the beans were extra tasty - the shrimp in our fajitas were perfectly done. And to top it all off - we were serenaded by the mariachis! This is our new favorite mexican place.

The tortilla chips and salsa are great, and so is a drink called "cantarito" I really enjoyed the food and drinks there.. prices are fair, and service is great. I would definitely go back to enjoy some Mexican food at the 5 de Mayo!

The food is typically amazing. Unfortunately, i believe they underwent a management change because i have never seen the new staff before. They took over 20 minutes upon ordering to receive our food. I was highly disappointed...
