This is my absolute favorite Mexican Restaurant in DSM. The service is friendly and fast. I like how everyone works together so that your food never sits around and gets cold, and youre never waiting for a drink refill. I always want to tip 130%. The chips are homemade and are usually hot. Their salsa is just spicy enough, not overboard. They also serve free bean dip, and well... free is always nice. :-D Their margaritas are very good. Every once in a while theres a great special and I like to take advantage of that. Sitting on the outdoor patio is perfect on a nice Spring/Summer day. I get the same thing every time- chicken fajitas. They come with fresh veggies that are soooo good. It comes with a huge plate of rice, beans, and fixins, so I can share it with my fiance and we are both stuffed by the end. We eat Gluten Free because my fiance has Celiac Disease. He never has a problem eating here, though. He gets the corn tortillas or just sticks with the chips. The price is amazing!! When we split the fajitas its under 15 bucks. The colors and decor are really lovely. You can cozy up in a booth or share a giant table, just depends on your party. Everyone Ive brought here also loves it and keeps going back. Great food, price, atmosphere, and service. Would recommend this to anyone!

Our father was leaving for Mexico the next day and we wanted to have a nice family dinner before he left so we here. We went here on a Friday night with six adults and four children- two of which are one year olds. We told the older lady working as the hostess that we would need two high chairs. They sat us within five minutes which was nice but they sat us in the "party room." There were four other tables of adult parties all drinking and having a good, loud time. We asked if there was another table on the other side we could sit at. Seeing as how we could not hear the person sitting next to us. Ten minutes after I asked the waiter he finally came back to take our order and my dad asked him again if there was another table. Hes like oh yeah, I looked theres no other tables. The food came, wasnt the best, and did not make up for the noise level. Which we understood it was a Friday night and werent blaming the people for having a good time but to sit a family with small children with a bunch of loud drunks was an inconsiderate act by the restaurant. Common sense and taking care of their guests was lost on them with our group.

Friends who have traveled and lived extensively in Mexico, were visiting Des Moines over Cinco de Mayo. We decided to eat Mexican and picked Mi Mexico based on feedback from our daughter and the Internet. We arrived a little after 6:00 PM on May 5th. Very crowded but the staff had the situation totally under control. Even though the host described us as deep on the wait list, we were seated in about 20 minutes. The atmosphere, although loud, compelled our friends to tell stories of their visits to Mexico. After the orders arrived and they had been focused on eating for a few minutes, I asked "Hows the food?". They looked up from their plates and said "Excellent!" simultaneously. Muchas gracias Mi Mexico for providing us with a five star dining experience and for delighting the palates of our gourmet friends. My fantastico.

Fast, efficient, but not very engaging servers. Nice, warm chips served with the runniest, weak salsa I ever had and a mystery queso that was thick and tasteless. My Taco Al Carbon was served on a platter that had been under a warmer to the point everything was melted together; the tacos were soggy, the beef tough and the refried beans and Spanish rice were forgettable. The price was reasonable, but the food was a huge disappointment, given the fact this restaurant was rated 4.3 out of 5 stars. (I have no idea how anyone could rate this place so high!). I wish I had gone to the Chilis or Applebees right next door!

The minute that you walk into this resturant you notice that it is very unique! The service and the food are incredible!!! The chips are hot and very fresh and they are served with a bean dip as well as a salsa. The service is great they want to make sure that you are happy with your dining experience and your every need is taken care of. It is refreshing to have great customer service in a very unique dining experience combined. The food is even moderately priced. Great date restaurant!!!

We were traveling back home from KC and we were ready to stop for a break and something to eat. What did we do before smart phones? We did a restaurant search and found this restaurant with good reviews so, we stopped in. The wait staff were courteous and friendly, the food was hot and delicious, portions were generous, the service was fast and the cost was very reasonable. We will be back!!!!

If you like chips and salsa, go somewhere else. Salsa is watery tomato juice with some ground up jalepeno, onion and a sprig of cilantro. Two thumbs down on the salsa. Bring your own. Pace would be better. I had rated two stars. Then I got my taco and enchilada. Reduced to one star. If no other Mexican joints are open, come here. This includes the taco bar at Hy-Vee.

Great service, friendly staff, and a clean restaurant. The chips and salsa are okay, and damn near bottomless and they continued to fill me up with refills. I had two shredded beef tacos with black beans and rice. The tacos were ok, the beans not bad same with the rice. The prices are good. I would rate it a 3.5. I just felt the food was ok at best.

Excellent friendly service! Fast hot food! I would call this an upscale authentic Mexican restaurant. They have reasonable prices, my family of three ate for less than $30. I will definitely come eat here again. Plus you get free bean dip with your chips and its super yummy. Even my daughter whos a picky eater loved the food.

What happened to this place? Not enough food for 1 person serving but inflated prices. Price manipulation! No noticeable alcohol in margaritas. Used to be my favorite place but Im not sure what happened. When complained, the response from server was that they cant do anything about it... Never Again!!

Great service, great food and even better margaritas! If you go make sure to order the Original Margarita- comes with its own shaker and is very good. Salsa is fresh, you get a bean dip with your chips also. The burrito deluxe, faijita quesdilla are good dinner choices.
