This was one if the best dining experiences Ive ever had. Within a minute of sitting down, the server brought us chips, salsa, and waters. A few minutes later we got our drinks and ordered food. The food came out less than ten minutes later, and the staff checked in regularly on how we were doing. In less than 15 minutes, we had everything we needed! Ive been to other des Moines restaurants where we didnt even get water within 15 minutes! The food was delicious and plentiful and it was a great dining experience. If you want astonishingly good service, eat here

Mexican is our favorite food and we always try to find the most authentic Mexican place when we move to a new city (we move around every 2-3 years, so we have lots of experience!). This is definitely the best we have found in the Des Moines area. Much better than El Rodeo or other places that serve lots of orange cheese! Authentic Mexican food. Very quick. Casual. Friendly waitstaff.

The rice was super dry and the beans tasted like they had been reheated about 10 times. Its bad when you cant get the basics right. The salsa was the only thing that was good. I was suprised the food was so bad because other Mexican restaurants in the Des Moines area related to this one or with the same owner have always been good. I will not be back to this restaurant though.

I work down the street from this place and have eaten there may times. After today I will no longer be eating there. We ordered food as usual to go. We went picked up the food and got back to the office and half way through our meal we find a baby cockroach in the chips. Very very disgusted right now. Will never ever eat here again.

Best Mexican restaurant in Des Moines that Ive been to. Food is very traditional and great service. If you want something cheap, order 2 enchiladas. They come with a family-sized bag of chips and the best home-made salsa for around $4.60 with tax. Cant beat that deal!

Called ahead for our group of 15 on a Sat. evening and they had a table ready for us. Caring, attentive staff made sure we were satisfied. Food came out incredibly fast. Delicious and huge portions. Very reasonably priced. Definitely will be back!

It may wreck your insides the day after (or even the day of), but the food is good, the prices are so cheap, and the service is so fast that you dont even give Mazatlan a second thought. My favorite local Mexican restaurant.

Its a fast Mexican food joint. Typical. Busy. The chips and salsa are very good. Ive had several dishes and all have been fairly good. Chili Relleno is one of my favorites.
