Had the worst service. The staff were constantly complaining loudly in the back of the restaurant. Witnessed our server throw her middle finger up at the manager right in plain view of everyone. The only reason I was watching was because I was willing her to turn around and look at us and notice we had been wanting to leave for fifteen minutes. Everyone is full of excuses there. You dont complain to the customers for sympathy, you make it work. They werent busy either, there was about five tables in the whole place. The manager was hilarious too because when I called to tell her wed been charged for our pie on free pie Wednesday, she kept going on and on about how she had no idea how to check the price of our entrees. So I had to tell her how (you pretend to ring in the entrees and find out the price) which followed by another excuse that she had only been there for a year. Ridiculous experience. Not to mention the hash browns were old and she still served them to us and the pancakes were rubbery most likely because they too were old. Ive been to village inn multiple places in IA and this location is a joke.

Went from dirty to clean, and now its disgusting again. I took my fiance and my grandmother to this Village Inn and we were seated next to the kitchen area. I would have to compare this experience like sitting very close to a kindergarten classroom. There was a man doing an impression of a dog the ENTIRE time; barking and growling to make the girls laugh, and there was an abundance of screaming and yelling coming from the other cooks and waiters in the kitchen. That would have been acceptable had the food not come out and been cold, undercooked, and sitting on dirty plates. Also, we had to get about 3 new rolls of silverware each because of the amount of caked on food left on the utensils. All in all a disgusting experience and I will NOT be going back.

We go there just to hang out and talk with friends late on friday or Saturday. The food is better than ihop or Perkins by quite a bit and I love their pie selection. Every time we go in the staff is helpful, attentive to our needs and all around fun. They are also perfectly fine with you relaxing and chatting with friends or family. You dont feel pressured into clearing the table like you do at other restaurants and they continue to fill drinks and check on you periodically even after youve finished eating and paid.

Service was terrible. Two of us were seated and were one of 4 booths woth customers. It took 10 minutes to get a drink and by that time ready to order, but server told us she would be right back, which was false as it was great more minutes before she took our order. The hostess was polite and friendly, but thats where the positivity completely ended with a slow rude and literally hideous waitress. Food was served fairly quickly, and was very tastey, but the service ruined all that.

Unbelievable... was given an hour and a half lunch and was still late getting back. Seriously, if Village Inn is where you want to go choose the one in Iowa City. Finally got the food and was told I had to wait on my pancakes. Was done with my food before pancakes got there. Had to get free pie to go. They werent busy and the manager was not listening to my issue of how long it took. He really didnt care. Also as a side note, dont get the cheesy hash browns. They are disgusting.

Such a good experience!! We ended up there because we saw a billboard saying Wendys was open until 2 am, but when we got there it was close ( 11 pm ), luckily this place was open until 12, so we went and WOW, We were happy we did, everyone was so helpful and nice, not mentioning the good energy they showed us. The food was delicious and everything was very clean. I would recommend it, and if they have in Colorado Im sure I will go again.

I was disappointed on my recent trip to Village Inn. I found two gross-looking strawberries in my (plain) side salad, and the chicken strips were disgusting and greasy. The fries were also terribly greasy too. The only good thing was that the food got out fairly quickly. If youre in the Iowa City/Coralville area and craving some chain diner food, skip Village Inn and go to IHOP or Perkins instead.

My family and I came to this place after a long drive... Food is horrible! I ordered french toast, they gave me grilled butter bread NO FLAVOR AT ALL! Also, it was around 11:50 pm, the owner came up to us and asked "Hows the food? If I can get you guys to pay your bill now that would b great so I can close the register" Very RUDE and I WOULDNT RECCOMMEND ANYONE EATING HERE!

Staff was great, food was amazing, portions were HUGE. Stopped for breakfast around 8:30 on a Sunday morning on our way out of town. Were greated with friendly staff, served our coffee immediately, received our food quickly and really enjoyed our experience. Clean and comfortable, reasonable prices.

Worst biscuit and gravy ever. The grave was cold and nasty and the biscuit was old and dry. I can not believe they really thought that someone could eat it. We left and ate at stake and shake. 1 star it too good for this place. Village inn used to be good. Will never go there again. Stay away.

I am an out-of-towner who just called in a pie order for Thanksgiving. Kolbey, the Asst. Manager who is helped me out. It was refreshing to have someone answer the phone with such a friendly, helpful attitude. It is apparent he enjoys his job and is willing to serve.

Typically the service is really fast unless they are completely full and then its pretty good, usually 15 minutes or less to get food which is great. I like the variety and its a place you can go to eat a meal or just a slice of pie and coffee!

Worst awful service. When my husband inquired as to why it was taking so long, the reply was theyre workining on it. What!? I mean how long does it take to make eggs.... Food was barely warm..hashbrowns too oily.

The pick 4 breakfast is great since it gives you so many choices. Had a cheese omelet with bacon, toast and 2 chocolate chip pancakes. They were good. Service was surprisingly slow given we ate at 1:30 however.

Good comfort food, staff are very friendly. Always seems understaffed, staff covering too many tables to be able to offer quick service, keep up with bussing tables, and to cover cash register.

I wish i could give this 0 stars. Literally saw a woman pick up the phone there, then with her dirty hands, she rubbed some sugar on a pie. Really disgusting and was rude to us.

The Village Inn features some good breakfast foods at a reasonable price. The service was a little slow, but once our server came over to us we were taken care of very well.
