We came to vesta on a sunny spring evening and it did not disappoint! The patio has some serious space and was an incredible place to sit for a few hours, enjoy some great food and a couple drinks. To begin, the appetizers were excellent! Great selection and a chef whos thinking outside the box! We enjoyed the beef wellington bites and hummus trio. The wellington bites may be my new favorite appetizer! The hummus trio included one that contained truffle oil and seriously, I would bathe in this stuff if given the chance. It was straight up awesome. For dinner we had the buffalo chicken pizza, the portobello burger, the vesta burger and the island chicken burger between four of us and all were worth getting again. The pizzas here arent flatbreads as most in the area have, but are true thin crust with some delicious baked in! The buffalo chicken had some zing and was solid. The vesta burger was the most impressive - topped with some legit onion straws that I had to steal more than once. Portobello burger was good, not great, little heavy on the goat cheese, but worth trying and the chicken was excellent. The dessert came next and there was some awesome going on. My wife and I had the huckleberry french toast with imperial stout ice cream - Fact - new flavors and great flavors! The french toast was sweet with some crunch and the stout ice cream was deep and a little bitter - it worked great with each other! Friends at the red velvet cake and in addition to a discussion about what "red velvet" flavor is, the cake was really good. Solid beer list with good draft choices and enough bottles to keep you guessing! Wine list is decent. The mixed drinks and specials were very nice - My wife had something we affectionately termed the "green mamba" - effectively white sangria with some lemon and lime. Theyre still figuring out that name, but whatever they call it - its a great summer drink! Overall, this is a spot well be back to and somewhere we hope catches on. The bar was pretty hopin as we were leaving and was a really nice space for meeting up. The service was great, the patio was FANTASTIC and the ambiance both inside and out are very nice. The water fountain nearby provides a perfect amount of back ground noise for the occasion and the lighting is excellent. Add a fire pit outside and a few more beers to choose from and this place becomes our go-to spot! Check this place out on a nice night with friends or your sweetie - you wont be disappointed.

Me and my girlfriend recently went here on the Saturday before Valentines day. They were offering a special menu that was a welcome surprise because I thought that we were in for tasty meal. Before dinner even began we ordered cocktails that were awful because of the low quality bottom shelf liquor used in their construction. Then the appetizers came out, the flavors were odd but overall it was ok. Then the night really went downhill. My girlfriend ordered the elk cooked medium, the meat arrived as tough as leather and severally overcooked. I ordered the halibut with spinach spaetzle. The spinach was great but the halibut again overcooked to the consistency of dried out chicken, the sauce the chef included on the fish tasted like ketchup and not the marinara wine reduction I was promised, very dissappointing! Dessert was great and the only redeeming quality. I dont pretend to be an expert on fine dining but I do know what a well prepared piece of meat should taste like. The flavors in meals clashed and overall I was left feeling cheated and I definitely overpaid. Save yourself some time and money, take a walk next door to Konomi grill and get some world class sushi and game entrees, you will be thanking me later.

Had an excellent graduation celebration here. Food choices were plentiful and the ambiance was excellence. Beef tenderloin was prepared perfectly and the truffle risotto was an excellent accompaniment. Strawberry salad was exquisite with multiple tastse exploding in every bite with subtle undertones. The passion fruit sorbet was a perfect ending to an excellent meal that had begun with wonderful bruschetta including a pear/Gorgonzola variety which was fabulous! Chef Hershey clearly enjoys preparing food and serving it well. The presentation of the meal was incredible and the service impeccable. If you want an excellent meal at a reasonable price this is a good place to start.

Really wanted the elk Ruben. They were out of it. Settled with the lamb burger and fries. Trendy sort of place. Well air conditioned. Refreshing iced H2o. Toe pull bathroom door opener. Brilliant. Great service. Nice choices on the menu. Locals say its "different" food, but it seemed normal to me. Maybe the choices on the menu are different for the people of Iowa. The kitchen staff seemed to be chatting a lot, which I believe affected the speed of the order. My burger was on the heat lamp counter for quite a while before it was brought to me. Overall a nice business. I would visit again. You should try it. Youll be glad you did.

Ate here on a Saturday night recently. Not looking for anything fancy, just something other than the Marriott where we were staying. The food took 45 minutes to come out, and was a disappointment to say the least. I had a simple hamburger that tasted old and very bland. My friend had a pizza that was burnt. The manager shrugged her shoulders and offered dessert, which we passed on, because we didnt want to wait again. Save your money and time and go elsewhere

I had high hopes for this place...but it was not good...at all. I thought we lucked out passing by on the hwy and finding a diamond in the rough instead of the normal road-trip fast food joints. HA. The food sounded good on the menu but I was sorely disappointed. I cant say that it was poor quality, it just had a really bad flavor. Dont come here, unless its just for a beer. The drink menu was decent.

Whatever they had been doing wrong a couple years ago (based on comments) they must have fixed. We got the caprese salad, antipasto plate, tomato bisque and a small pizza and it was all great. Granted, now that I list it out, all the dishes were pretty simple, but still, all was fresh, flavor was great, service was great, and ambiance was great.

Absolute dismal performance- served scallops that reeked of being NOT fresh (even though the chef assured us of their freshness and the server blankly asked "well have you tried them....." No anyone with experience would not put something that reeked like they did in their mouth)- 4 entrees none were pleased...... complete failed experience.

Lamb burger was over-cooked and dry. Bun was over-toasted. Pasta salad was boring. Ice tea refill not offered until dinner was concluded. I was disappointed. Have been there in the past and the food was great. I was there with a group of about 16. The room was very pleasant as was the waitress. Someone mentioned the menu had changed.

We were in Iowa City for a few days and decided to venture outside of the Marriott Hotel in Coralville, IA. Vesta restaurant was excellent with a friendly staff and very well seasoned food. We had the beef tenderloin and the rubbed pork. I would recommend both. Prices were reasonable and less than the hotel.

Food was good-- I got the Island Chicken sandwich with fries. The drinks were exceptionally good. I had the Back Porch Lemonade and my date had the Dark and Stormy (rum and ginger beer). Service was prompt and efficient. I look forward to coming back for a salad, more drinks. And bread pudding!
